  1. Greetings friends, I've an issue with the Mitsubishi Lancer (2008 make). Yesterday morning my car started normally and after the startup the RPM goes to 2k (which is normal) and in few seconds the engine made a sound like a cold start. RPM was fluctuating rapidly from 0.5 k - 2 k. It continued around 5 minutes and I didn't turn off the engine. After the heat was raised up to 50% the engine was acting normal, RPM came back to 0.7 - 0.8. During the time of the issue engine was clearly shaking (i opened up the bonnet and checked). When things became normal I drive around and the issue never came later during that day. But it occurred this morning too, similar symptoms and the knocking was gone around in 5 mins time. I've observed that it was smokey than before when this happens, and the smoke doesn't smell like patrol during that first 5 mins of start. (later it smells normal). The common facts on these two days were the rain. There was continuous rain here and the environment is cold (below 20 c). Now the milage goes as 88k and I have done a engine tuneup from Mr, Dhammika Frenando on the mark 82k (he changed the plugs and said there are no faults found by the scanner). I've heard that EFIs doesn't have cold start (i'm not sure whether it's correct) I'm planning to take her to the agents at Katugastota tomorrow, I value any advice / ideas from experts.   2. Dear Friends I have a Peugeot 3008 (from Car Mart). Normally when we cold start a car its engine RPM will be little bit high (around 1,100RPM) for about one minute. My practice is, I keep the car idle until it becomes normal idle speed(750~800RPM), without driving. Is this practice good or bad or useless? Thanks in advance.
  3. Our 2008 swift was sitting idle for 3 or 4 days but it did start all right in the afternoon. But next morning, around 4:45am, I try to start it but on the first turn of the starter the battery just went flat. I charged it, and it was in working order for a week..when another morning (5:30am) it struggles to start but somehow started. Later that day in the afternoon when I was using the climate control with the engine off for like 3 minutes, the battery died. Jump started it and got it working again..4 days later I jokingly told my brother that the car won't start the next morning & alas, that's what happened (today morning 4:30am) the battery went flat on the first turn and the dashboard lights were fluctuating, I switched it off immediately. The internet says cold weather plays havoc on an old battery (our battery looks old but not sure how many years old) & that it is time to change the battery..the green indicator is there as well. When attempting to start, you could hear the motor slowly turning over. So hopefully no problems with that. So is it time for a new battery or is something seriously wrong?
  4. I have a peugeot 406 2L petrol engine. Engine starts perfectly in cold start. The engine hesitates after a while till the engine heats up to 90 degrees with the AC load. Without the AC, the hesitation is seldom present while it is heating up. Car runs smoothly when the temperature is reached. I have done an injector cleanup and replaced plugs, air filter & petrol filter. having done two tune-ups didn't help. Need help.
  5. Hi Friends, I'm having bit of issues when starting my car in the morning or whatever time when engine is cold. This is a Lancer CB2 with 4g15 carb engine. Have two problems actually. 1. when I crank the engine in cold it would start right away and rpm jumps to around 1300 for around 2-3 seconds and then comes back to around 300. Again the choke kicks in and rpm again goes above 1000 for a minite and again come down afterwards. Sometimes the engine stops unless I rev it for bit. RPM keeps fluctating like this until the engine gets heated up for normal operating temp. (To put it simply fast idling happens only time to time ) Once the engine heated up rpm settles around 700 and no issues afterwards. How to solve this? choke seems not working continuously. 2. Other problem is related to riding experience. I could hear engine knock when pressing on gas hard in mostly in 3rd & 4th gears. Have noticed this happens only after engine got heated up for normal operating temp and until that knocking will not occur. And I don't see any lag in pulling power nor other riding issues . What could be the reason ? Note: I'm not actually sure whether this is engine knock sound. But the sound is similar when we try to press more gas when rpm is low for that particular gear. Appreciate your valuable advices on this. Thanks.
