  1. I am willing to buy a used Honda Grace car. But I'm concerned about the DCT clutch failure which is known in the Honda series. Can I know from experts, are there any methods to check the current status of the DCT clutch in the car and how to getting know it before failing? Are there any signs to notice before failing it?
  2. Anyone who can develop like this hand clutch for manual gear vehicle in sri lanka using Arduino?
  3. Hi all, I just purchased a Nissan Bluebird SU14 Eprise. It's diesel vehicle which has done 144000 on the ODO. The issue i'm having is that while driving when I shift to the third gear and leave the clutch, the car bounces while moving forward. So I quickly press the clutch and the car runs smoothly for the momentum. The problem occurs when I go to the third or fourth gears only where when I slow down and change to the second, it runs perfectly. I did the clutch test where you put the gear in the third while on standby and you leave the clutch while accelerating and as it is supposed to, the vehicle stopped instead of trying to move. Has anybody had this issue?? Do you guys know what causes this or what this issue is?? Thanks guys
  4. When I start the car in the morning, most of the times there is a hum (Like two rubbers fastly rubbing together) sound coming in the idle warming up process from the engine for a bout 20-30 seconds and gradually disappear. As observed this comes from the mid/bottom of the engine. If I press the Clutch while sound, it goes off immediately and if release the clutch it comes back (Within this 20-30 seconds, it doesn't matter how many times I pressed/released, it will be the same behavior) No other issue or abnormal sounds in the driving in all gears, but if I run about 10-12 Kms continuously and parked in idle to open the gate or traffic lights. Sometimes I hear a metal rattling noise from the engine compartment which I could not identify where it comes from. This is more noisy with A/C compressor running with high idle. For this also it's the same story with clutch Goes away when paddle pressed and comes back when released. I'm totally confused on what to do as I could not diagnosed where it is coming from and is there a connection between morning noise and this random metal rattling when engine is hot. Car is Toyota AE110 Petrol Manual. Experts please help.

    Clutch System

Hi everyone, Hope you all are keeping well.. This is not a mechanical problem I'm having but to seek for an answer for a question I have regarding auto engineering for quite sometime. I know how a clutch system work, its components and principals. But I have this question why does not it slip at high loads, when climbing a hill or at rapid accelerations if it is locked with friction only. For example we have seen how a lorry struggles carrying a heavy load when climbing a hill, so I'm sure there is lot of torque passed through the drive train but how come it does not beak loose in the clutch where it is just attached with friction? Thank you, Best Regards, Dush
  6. Hi All, My car is a 1996 Mazda BG3P. About 1 yr back I’ve swapped my engine and my mechanic said that the clutch plate has work out and asked me to replace it. And I said ok for that. After that from time to time clutch becomes very heavier and difficult to push the pedal. And when you push the pedal and release it quickly the pedal comes up with a “Creek” sound and I’ve notice that clutch will not engage with the speed of releasing the paddle. Which means that when I quickly release the pedal, I fell that there is a 2-5 second lag in engaging the clutch and it engages slowly. When I stop the vehicle for some time and start it again then it works fine. I feel that the clutch getting difficult to push when I drive in heavy traffic like Colombo where frequent releasing and engaging the clutch involves. Does anyone have any idea about the cause and what goes wrong? And would be grateful if someone can recommend me a garage or mechanic who can fix this at a reasonable price.
  7. Dear all, I have an issue with my Hyundai Santa Fe 2011 (Diesel/Manual/4x4). It has now done 20,000Km without problems. 4th service has been done recently in the company at 20,000Km. This time the mechanic told that there is a kind of hardness in the clutch pedal. What he is suspecting is that the pressure plates which has got tougher due to running in the heavy traffic mostly on the clutch. There are no any other problems such as hardness in shifting gears, dropping gears whatsoever. It’s just the hard clutch pedal. Now I am thinking whether to let the company to work on it which is a sort of big work which they need 2+ days or just ignore it and keep drive. Mechanic says this is not a common problem for this vehicle and it can happen due to a manufacturing fault or else due to wear away. It will be fixed totally free if it is found a manufacturing fault or will cost a lot to fix it by the company if it found a running repair. Is this a serious issue? Please give me your ideas/experience on this. Thanks.

  9. Guys. Recently I was requesting a lot of favors from AL members regarding civic's and lancers; I ended up buying a nissan pulsar. (I know, it bloody weird...) Anyway, I need to know if there is a way to adjust the clutch, because there is a lot of free-play in it. Meaning, i have to lift my foot way too much in order to allow the vehicle to move...like in those indian swifts (beetle)...so if it can be done, please be kind enough to tell me if its costly: any parts need to be replaced etc. (Im kinda week in automobile repairs... :/) Thank You
