  1. I need a 7 seater SUV for 3.5 million which has a good fuel economy. (diesel) I could only find that Hyundai Santa Fe 2007/2008 will help all my requirements but all the vehicles available have crossed 100,000kms on the clock and I heard the engine needs to be overhauled after reaching 100k and the second-hand market is horrible too. The main reason I need a 7 seater is that there are 6 people in my family and we mostly travel together. I also have thought of buying something like an x-trail or rav4 2007ish and ride with the family by turning down the back seats or I heard that a seat can be installed as a 7 seater on a Facebook post. I could only find old posts about this from 2013 on this website so please help me. Thanks in advance, Somasiri
  2. Hello everyone, I am in need of an SUV in 5 mil to 5.5 mil range and the BMW X1 diesel seems to fit the bill. But my concerns are on how reliable will it be as of 2019. Most ones are 2011-2013 range and have almost or in excess of 100k kms. Ive done my research and find out some issues 1.N47 engine timing chain issues 2.Steering box 3.ZF auto transmission and its lifetime oil change claims(This im not so sure about and many say it needs changing oil) 4. Problems with the A/C? Most of my research was bases on the internet so are there more issues native to SL ? It would also be appreciated if owners could mention about servicing costs, repair places other than the agent and general costs Thanks in advance 😊

  5. Honda vessel is a hybrid crossover utility that you can buy at a low price. But I saw that many problems comes with it on other threads but I cant take a straight decision depending on them cus there are both negative comments and positive ones at the same level in all the other posts. This much of an investment is a huge amount for me so any expert who can advise me on buying it now for 4-4.5 million and other possible alternatives with the same fuel economy? Thanks in advance!

Premium vehicle to buy for 3 - 4.5 million?

Hello everyone, What are your thoughts on buying a Mitsubishi Outlander 2008/2009/2010 or 2011 model now? Since I can find one for the price range of 4-5 million I think its the perfect crossover for me (correct me if I'm wrong) I want to know about all the positive sides and the negative sides of buying this vehicle. And spending 4 - 5 million on a vehicle is a huge investment for me so I will continue to post whatever the vehicle that comes to my mind which I can't find proper information on other threads as it will help me and other Sri Lankans to make the right decision when buying a vehicle. Thank you in advance!

    TOYOTA HARRIER - 3rd Generation XU60

Hi Guys, I did a research on new Harrier XU60, prior to my upgrade. If you are a HARRIER fan, hope this will help. TOYOTA HARRIER - 3rd Generation XU60 New Harrier 3rd generation launched Japan in 2013 and face lifted model from 2017 onwards. Generic model goes as XU60, derives on Toyota's new MC platform. https://toyota.jp/harrier/ Harrier comes in 3 Versions based on Engine Hybrid system namely ; Gasoline, Turbo, Hybrid. Each version has following "Option Grades"; 1. Gasoline comes with 2.0L Petrol engine 3ZR-FAE , Frame ZSU-60W (2WD) / ZSU-65W (4WD) -> Option Grades : Grand, Elegance, Elegance GR Sport, Premium, **Progress Package 2. Turbo comes with 2.0L Turbo charged Petrol engine 8AR-FTS, Frame ASU-60W (2WD) / ASU-65W (4WD) -> Option Grades : Grand, Elegance, Elegance GR Sport, Premium, **Progress Package 3. Hybrid comes with 2.5L Hybrid Engine 2AR-FXE , Frame Code AVU-65W (4WD) -> Option Grades : Grand, Elegance, Premium, **Progress Package With face-lifted 2017 model, Grand variant was removed and the Elegance became the base variant. Turbo Charged model got introduced along with 2017 facelift. ** Progress Package is also called as Advance Premium. *** Premium & Progress Packages have two interior trim variations called ; 1) Standard 2) Metal & Leather https://toyota.jp/harrier/grade/?padid=ag341_from_harrier_navi_grade You can refer full detailed Specs from below link. 1st column is for Turbo, 2nd for Hybrid & 3rd for Gasoline variations. https://toyota.jp/pages/contents/harrier/003_p_007/pdf/spec/harrier_spec_201706.pdf Unlikely during previous Harrier models, TOYOTA has decided to launch Harrier in international markets as well. Hence now its available both in Malaysia & Singapore but with slight option grade variations. These models equipped with English Multi-Information Display which is a plus. https://toyota.com.my/vehicles/suv/harrier https://www.toyota.com.sg/showroom/new-models/harrier New XU60 Harrier is mostly in par with Lexus NX, RX from option wise though they demarcated from outer appearance ( unlikely 2nd generation XU30 Harrier vs Lexus RX ). New face-lifted models includes Toyota Safety Sense P safety features such as, Adaptive Cruise Control ( powered with mmWave Radar ), Lane Departure Assist (LDA) , Pre-crash Safety System (PSS), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Automatic Parking Break, Break Hold. https://toyota.jp/harrier/safety/?padid=ag341_from_harrier_navi_safety Also it equipped with Dual Zone Climate Controlled A/C equipped with Nano-e, Panoramic Electric Twin Sun Roof, Heated side Mirrors and back door Windscreen, Power Electric memory leather seats, Heated and Ventilated Seats, Power Back Door, Power Tilt steering, Auto dimming Rear View Mirror, Intelligent Clearance Sonar (ICS)/Parking Assist, Hill Start Assist, Automatic Level Sensing Cornering LED Headlights, Sequential Turn Lights, Dual (Vertical & Horizontal ) LED Day Time Running Lights, Rain Sensing Wipers, Wireless charging, Auto Retract Mirrors, 7 SRS Air Bags, 360 Bird's Eye View with Steering Guide Lines equipped with factory installed JBL Audio Package + JBL Sub Woofer, Multi function Steering, 100v/100w AC outlet, Shark Fin Antenna, Scuff & Trim Illumination etc.. Features depend on Grade variations. Also Premium and above grades comes with a Smart RF Card Key which you can carry on your wallet. However it lacks virtual cockpit, powered & ventilated rear back seats, 3rd row seats, front & rear USB ports (only Premium Advance comes with single USB port inside center console), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) etc when compared to European counterparts. https://toyota.jp/harrier/interior/?padid=ag341_from_harrier_navi_interior Harrier comes with few styling options. https://toyota.jp/harrier/exterior/?padid=ag341_from_harrier_navi_exterior 1) Toyota Styling Package Ver 1, 2, 3. ( With old model (pre 2017) there were special style editions called Style Mauve and Style Ash ). https://toyota.jp/harrier/accessories/ Harrier Turbo variation comes with a unique 18 inch alloy wheels which gives a very premium sporty look. 2) TRD Styling Package - Areo Ver 1,2 http://trdparts.jp/english/harrier/aero2.html 3) Modellista Styling Package Ver 1, 2 https://www.modellista.co.jp/product/harrier/ Out of above Modellista styling variations are quite popular. Harrier is a quite popular mid sized SUV in Sri Lanka from its 1st generation. It competes with Lexus RX/NX, Honda CRV, Nissan X-Trail, Peugoet 3008, Audi Q6, BMW X5. Being a TOYOTA it has a very good 2nd hand resale value too. Harrier is powered with 6 Speed Electronically Controlled Tiptronic Transmission (ECT) System which gives a very efficient fuel consumption. As per manufacture specs Gasoline does 16km/l, Turbo 13km/l & Hybrid 21.4km/l under standard idle conditions. However based on my personnel experience 2.0L Harrier Gasoline version does around 9~10 km/l in Colombo city traffic and above 14km/l ++ long distance. This is with ECO Mode + Smart Engine Auto Stop modes ON. When you switch to POWER mode, you can feel real glimpse of sporty racing drive. In Sri Lanka you can get both XU60 Harriers from 2013 and 2017 models mostly Grand, Elegance, Premium & Advance Premium Option grades. But you may hardly find Harrier Turbo grade as those variants goes above government permit CIF restrictions. Sadly due to government permit / duty restrictions nowadays its not possible to import Harrier in brand new condition. Hope things will change in time to come. Being a TOYOTA, Harrier gives very good value for money with its features, performance & professional design. Below link gives good overview of 2017 face lifted new Harrier. (Official TOYOPET version ..... of course in Japanese 🙂 ) English version of review. Your comments well appreciated. Thanks.
  12. Dear Experts, I'm a newbie to the forum abut I've been following AL forum for a very long time which helped me a lot. I'm looking to buy an SUV around 2.4 - 2.8 mil and maybe I can go up to 2.9 mil maximum. Currently using a car but doesn't really fit for a family of 5 members. So thought of going for roomy SUV, although I'm not talking about extreme off roading. Searching here and there I came up with two available options. Your expert advice about below cars is well appreciated. If there are more suggestions I'm open for them as well. Thank you. 1. Hyundai Tucson 2004 - 2006 2.0 L (Petrol Automatic) 2. Kia Sportage 2005 - 2006 2.0 L (Petrol Automatic) What I want is a less trouble vehicle that I can use for about another 3 years with regular maintenance, Not much worried about the fuel economy. Both Automatic and Manual transmission vehicles are fine for me.
  13. I'm really interested in buying a Land Cruiser 100 or 105 series. But even though these are 20 year old vehicles, they go for about 8 Mil to 15 Mil, which is totally not worth considering that many brand new cars cost go for that price. Whereas in Japan or Elsewhere you could buy one for less than 2 Mil. I know these are reliable and amazing vehicles which don't die. Just want to see what everyones opinion is. Thanks!

A Brand New for lesser than 6mil.

Any Ideas for a brand new vehicle for family use between 4-5.5mil? We had a 2009 Honda Insight for several years, bought it on second market. Under this economic condition is there anyway to get a decent vehicle(an upgrade of course) without any compromises?

    Pajero Computer body

Hi all, My first question on AL, so if theres anything wrong in the manner this was raised just let me know. I'm planning to buy my first vehicle. After some search and following up on relevant AL threads here I am. my budget is 3 - 3.5 ml and Im looking for a 7 seater. preferebly a 4x4.(I've been driving a navara 2008 which belongs to my father and love it) though not a hardcore offroad driver After a bit of a search my options were pajero palathsaba(1989) and computer body(61-xxxx) models. Eventhough palathsaba has its reputation and being my choice, due to some feminine impacts now I'm considering about computer body. I'll be travelling from colombo to matara and return every weekend, and upcountry once a month with at least 5 seats occupied. Need some advice from anyone who has experience/knowledge in there. What I should check when buying one, Is it reliable, fuel figures(ain't expecting much, just to understand what Im getting in to) spare parts availability, Planning to keep it for at least for 3 years. Anything I should know before spending hard earned money.. Please let me know if I missed any other option in that price range as well. (No sir, I cannot stretch bit more. 3.5 ml is stretched)

    Peugeot 5008 SUV

  17. Hi All, I am looking to buy a jeep. Less than 9 million is my budget. I am looking to keep a jeep for 2 years and sell. Please advise.
  18. I currently have a somewhat basic Kia Sorento from 2014 which I am planning on replacing with a newer SUV (probably a crossover). Due to the lack of a sun roof, 4WD and an extra set of seats in the back, and 100k on the odometer, I assume the sale price would be in the range of 7 to 8 million. I am looking to replace it with a newer vehicle, and would appreciate your recommendations. I have checked out the Toyota CH R 2017 (worrying reviews) or a few years older HONDA CR-V. Or would it be better to stretch the budget further (up to another 1m) and consider something like the Audi Q2 or a newer CR-V.

I hope this will be a common site as the car drivers will do this as SUV cut across.

    Mini-suv under 2.5 mil.

This might be a proper noob question but utterly confused after going over this topic. I am looking for a vehicle to buy under 2.5 million. My main concern is resale value. I am used to driving an '87 honda teg. My choices have narrowed down below. I want to know which is the best option to buy in terms of resale value and petrol consumption. - Zotye Nomad II - Chinese :/ are the newer models still so bad? - Grand Vitara - hard to sell, - Toyota Cami - any thoughts - Rav4 1997 - any thoughts? probably out of this budget.

  24. What will be the best bang for buck at current market prices? Looking for something that's manufacturing year is at-least 2010. There are some of options such as Audi A4 2011 (B8), BMW X1, BMW E90 facelift. Is Audi A4 B8.5 within my budget? Or anything else that I can consider?
