  1. I have a Nissan Tiida 2008 model, clocked at 96k. Today suddenly reverse gear stopped working. no matter engine is cold or hot it's not working, however when I put the gear into R and accelerate the engine, its engaging about at 3000 rpm. Once it engaged I can reverse without problem. Other gears are working fine as usual. I have change the gear oil every 30k miles with Nissan branded trans oil. also i have checked the gear oil levels and its not low. What could be the problem? How much it cost to replace the auto gearbox I am from kandy. Are there any reputed gearbox mechanics around kandy?
  2. Hi, I am currently looking at a Skyline 250GT 2001 YOM online. Before purchasing, I want to know the common faults of this car and VQ engine (other than CD Player issues) and the parts availability in 2024. If you give me some pointers on what to look for and check (any specific details I should look for) that would be amazing. Also is it mandatory to use 95? Cause I have seen in some other foreign forums, that users have gotten better mileage and reliability through 91/92 fuel.
  3. Hi, Hope you guys are having a good start of the week. I have a budget of 3-3.5 mil. I searched through some ad postings and narrowed down a list of vehicles which I like and fit within my budget. Nissan Primera 2002 (178,500 km) Hyundai Santa Fe 2004 (118,800 km) Suzuki Grand Vitara 2005 [2 door] (175,000 km) Mitsubishi Galant Super Saloon 2003 (131,000 km) I want to know, If these vehicles are worth for that budget? Is it easy to maintain / find parts? (I've had bad experiences in the past not being able to easily find parts for my previous vehicle so I'm really concerned about this) I'm leaning more towards the Grand Vitara or the Santa Fe since I like SUV types. Which one would be the better option out of the two? Or would you recommend any other new suggestions? This would be my second vehicle. I work in a hybrid setting so I don't usually drive everyday. Typical mileage per month would be between 450-500 Km. Fuel consumption around 10Km/liter would be acceptable (But this is a low priority focus since like I mentioned, I don't drive daily). I'd greatly appreciate your input. Thank you.
  4. Hi Friends and Greetings for Holiday season. I am stepping down after 5+ years from my reliable Suzuki Swift 2003 (Jeep model) sold due to migrating plan. But plan is delayed. I don't want to spend a lot on a car due to current crisis. Required is basic relative comfort travel 15-20 km. Mostly reliable so you can go somewhere with confident even in night. Also no need of profit but need to be able to get rid of car at short notice+ easy maintenance. Budget prefer about 1.5M max go up to 2M but I want to go as cheap as possible. Also I really like to have auto gears manual if no choice at all. I have done some research and even check few cars here's my list please help with pro and con so make me not make a mistake. Nissan : For my budget Very good condition Trad Sunny is there. But 90% manual so not a fan. Very few auto ones - are they reliable? Then Doctor Sunny diesel is lot cheaper than petrol. Petrol I think overpriced. Why is diesel cheaper? Cars look good condition but people say Diesel Sunny is a lot of problems why? But still not auto but my budget gets me good condition cars. Few Auto gear cars are there as well. Wingroad Auto is there but 2 cars I checked are terrible state so I think most are like that. Good ones above 2 M Toyota: Everything is above 2 Million except for Wagons (18/19 dash) But Manual. And corolla and Corona (17/18 dash) both available Auto and same engine 5A according to a seller. Diesel Auto also available Reliable? Parts? Mitsubishi Honda very few for sale at the budget - Honda Grand Civic is there but a friend tells it's likely to have lot of issues and no one knows to fix it. Suzuki few random Cultus etc but worried about spares. Finally there's a LOT of Hyundai for this budget Sonata Elantra and Accent. Much newer and Auto+ Seems a good deal but what's the catch? A mechanic tells their difficult to fix. What do you think and suggestion friends? Should I conserve budget an go for a classic like Sunny Trad/Doctor and live in pain of manual drive in city? Are Hyundai risky? Or should I just stretch my budget to above 2 M and get a March K11 or a FB14??
  5. Hi, I have a Nissan March K11 Automatic, manufactured in 2000. I experienced that the engine stops automatically and the dashboard indicators turns on. Once I change the gear to P and start the car, it works as usual. This doesn't happen very often though. I figured this happens when the car runs on idle speed. I appreciate if anyone can give me any idea to figure this out. Thanks.
  6. My fb 15 auto gear. between changing 2nd to 3rd gear, the engine races for around 2 seconds. It is like some time gap in the Gear.
  7. Hi, I'm thinking of doing a petrol swap for my Nissan SB-14 1996 with a CD20 Engine. Engine is at 285K on the clock and is under compression. Since there is no benefit of saving money on Fuel these days as both petrol and diesel cost the same, is it a good idea to swap for a petrol engine instead of rebuilding the CD20? If so what are good alternative engines for the car? Would GA15 (Engine of FB14) fit without much of a hassle? or any other good alternatives?
  8. Looking to buy my first car. Please share if anyone has any suggestions or advices. My desired specs are as below. Thanks... Desired model: Mazda familia 323 YOM: 1990 - 1994 Price expected: 1 - 1.5 million LKR Fuel type: Diesel or Petrol Transmission: 5Gear manual preffered Other: power mirrors, steering, shutters
  9. After hunting for cefiro's for weeks i have come up with the following reasons as to why cefiro's have a lower market value than other contemporary cars. 1) the A33 singapore imports have a fastly deteriorating interior. i checked out a '99 specimen today and my god! interior looks quite horrible. i think a person of the caliber who'd go for a cefiro would be very concerned about interior. this generally brings down the value of cefiro's and even the jap models without this problem tend to take a hit on the price becuase of it. 2) well it's not a "Toyota". Toyota markII is not a lot better than a proper jap cefiro(ok i know singapore imports are crap but jap ones are cool). but somehow people think that markII is lot more up market and pay sometimes up to twice the price on a markII simply becuase of that perception. come to think of it, a nice jap cefiro will pamper you lot more than an allion and you will have 2 million balance in the bank that will pay you interest to pump as much extra petrol. but people don't want to calculate the true "total cost of ownership" and make a decision thereon. that is called market perception and i don't blame anyone for that, "it's people's choice". 3) well it's not a Mercedes, BMW or an Audi. it cannot bring the same amount of social status or driving pleasure as do these established brands in upmarket. cefiro do not realistically belong to the same league and there's nothing wrong about it. 4) the general inconsistent fuel consumption of nissans. i have seen so many honest people who says their nissan fb15 (automatic transmission) does 9km/l in traffic and i also have seen so many honest people who says their nissan fb15 (automatic transmission) does only 7km/l in traffic. i my self have used a 1996 nissan pulsar with 1.5L engine that did only 6-7 km/l in traffic but i also have seen people prove to me that their's do 9km/l which is not bad at all. i think no party was lieing. there is something about nissans that offer inconsistent fuel consumptions and i don't attribute that to driving behaviors alone, it's something to do with cars for sure. the same is true for cefiro's. whereas some do 7km/l some other do only 5.5km/l, both kinds being identical on paper. 5) there are so many in the market and quite a few are these notorious singapore imports that ruin the general perception and price of the vehicle. besides so many coming to the market every week generally ruins the market for any upmaket car. bdw today i found in a manual 2L A33(jap specimen), quite a rare kind, but the bugger is demanding too much considering the troubles (hidden though) that it has. if any of you are interested, it's out there in the market but beware of it's hidden troubles and do a full diagnostic check b4 buying. i am obviously not going for it and that is why i spill the beans in conclusion i think nissan cefiro jap models are the best value for money luxury cars out there.
  10. Once import ban is lifted is there any way to import a 1997 made Nissan car to Sri Lanka? Maybe with a special permission? If possible what's the procedure? The car I'm looking for is a Nissan 180 SX that needs some repairs. (3.5 Grading in Japan auction).
  11. Is there anyone using Nissan X-trail TL T31 diesel model? I need to know some information about that vehicle.
  12. hi, my car Nissan fb15 2000 model having starting problem time to time, some time its engine cranking but not starting, that time i realize when ignition switch on initially fuel pump not working to initial start up this fault is intermittent i gave direct power supply from fuse bord to the fuel pump for couple of second to run the pump for initial start up then start its starting, any body having any idea about it. is it problem with ECM, thanks very much.

  14. Im creating this topic since the last topic about this discussion was back in 2010. What are the best places to get a car detailing done in Kandy. A full interior cleaning with seats removed using good quality products. Prices should be reasonable
  15. Hello! Hope you’re all keeping safe! Yesterday I was driving my moms HT32 XTrail which has 81k kms on it and while driving downhill at the Pita Kotte junction, I felt the usual EV-Petrol shift jerk, a bit intensified and the vehicle started vibrating a bit. Like the engine was sputtering, sort of. And so my obvious reaction was to stop the vehicle. It was then that I realised that the Engine had shut off. I tried restarting the engine and it did, but when I shifted the gear to try and drive it to the side of the road, the engine turned off again. By then the Engine Check light, ESP, Brake Warning and Master Caution lights were illuminating on the dash. I somehow managed to push the car to a side and park it by the side of the road but unfortunately was not able to find any mechanics to diagnose the issue. So I had to tow it back home. Can anyone here please give me any credible information regarding this? I’m quite sure it’s the infamous gearbox issue that played up, and I’m sure it has something fishy to do with the apparent “gearbox replacement” that was done in June of 2020 by Sterling Aftercare. Can anyone give me any advice as to how I should proceed from here on please? Thank you! Hope you all have a much pleasant Sunday than I am having!
  16. Hello everyone, I would like to get an expert's view on the following issue. The car is a Nissan Sunny E-B13(1993) Up to the point, the A/C was working properly but now it has got a problem. When I checked it, I could see that the compressor clutch is not engaged when the A/C is switched on and my guess is that it might be an issue in the electrical circuit of the system. How could I find the problem exactly, and if it's an electrical issue, what are the things that have to be checked(Relays/Fuses-according to this car model)? Any of your assistance is highly appreciated. Regards.!
  17. Hi guys, My car was having this acceleration issue recently and show it to a mechanic and got the fuel pump (the one inside the petrol tank) replaced by mechanic two week ago. Actually he checked the fuel pressure and there was no pressure at all when switch is on only jumped it to 25 knots after engine started. when engine stops pressure came down at no time. Mechanic told that even after engine shut down it should keep the pressure. With that conclusion he changed the fuel pressure pump. However replaced one was a TAIWAN made. After that I drive the around 1000 km with several long trips. Last week I drive to Kandy and again the same issue came and car was not moving at all at the middle of Kandy Town. Engine was not accelerating when I paddle. However I found a mechanic there and managed to drive back. He told that TAIWAN petrol pump is not reliable. Since the I was driving the car and I felt car was not ruining smoothly as earlier. Hence I show the car to the mechanic who replaced the petrol pump two weeks back. He tune up the engine replacing spark plugs, cleaning injectors and all. After that he check the petrol pressure again. It was zero when switch is on. went up to 30 knots after engine starts. back to zero in no time after engine stops. Mechanic is telling i got to replace the petrol pump again with genuine one. Now I am thinking of what option I have. Car is not running well and engine starting is also a bit lazy. I have to give little gas to start the engine. (can all these be due to not enough petrol pressure? can it be something else) Please share if you have any this kind of experience and hope mechanical experts can assist me. Thank you.
  18. Hello Friends, I’m experiencing a strange thing that my car (AK 12) giving a continuous ‘beep… beep…’ sound when I apply the brake. That ‘beep…’ alarm is buzzing until release the brake paddle. There is no dashboard indicators are appearing also. This is not happened always but most of the time it happened. I don't have any idea why that happens, please share me if you are having any thoughts on that. Thanks
  19. First of all sorry for being the least active member on the forum🙃. Now since I used my beloved teana for 4 months I'd like to share my experience + what i did with the car. 1. So when I bought the car it had some minor oil leaks so I redid all the oil seals in the car as a precautionary repair using original Nissan parts which I got from A*W (slightly rip-off price but hey atleast it's "original"). 2. Redid my brake system with refaced calipers and original pads because of a minor braking sound which was noticable at traffic situations. 3. Installed KYB "New SR special" shocks and shock mounts. The new SR special is the only shock nissan recommends for the teana (finding this was a pain in the ass because almost all shops in Sri Lanka has KYB Excel Gs and nothing else) 4.Replaced 3/5 engine mounts using the original nissan parts from A*W. (Didn't knew japanese mounts costs that much😑) 5. Did a engine tune-up + throttle body cleaning since I felt like it's doing a bit less on fuel consumption. 6. Redid all the leather parts in the car back to the factory beige material The shocks were a game changer to the ride quality and now it's actually comfy. After 4 months of usage the car feels nice and smooth, a car which you'll enjoy to be a passenger in but not so much to drive because it's a barge. (Can't do risky moves while driving). Other than that the car drives superb and people think I'm a government V*P since most these cars are used by government secretaries and such. Fuel economy is 7.5-8 kmpl on city and 10-11 on highways. I'm actually impressed by the VQ25s smoothness because I've never driven a V6 before. Still i have much more to do in this car to bring back back to it's factory glory and here's a few I'm planning of doing within the next months, so if anyone can help me in the process I'm much appreciated. 1. Need to find original 16 inch alloy wheels that came for the car since the 18 inch alloys (aftermarket) that looks great reduces the comfort by a significant margin. Current alloy wheel The original 16 inch alloy that came with the car. So if anyone can hook me up with these types of alloys it's much appreciated. 2. There's a slight noise coming from the AC compressor when the compressor clutch is applied so should investigate that before it blows up. 3.Rear passenger armrest wood trim piece is cracked so should replace or find someone to fix that up. 4. Need to do a full interior detailing but can't find a good place that'll do justice for the velvet seats. (Please let me know if y'all know any place). So that's chapter 2 of my nissan teana journey. I'll try to post more on the forum definitely. Special thanks to @MaleCortana for recommending me the mechanic that did everything in the car. p.s i installed an android infotainment system which is me going out of my way to bring the car back to factory glory, but i had to do that since it's a nightmare reversing this GIGACAR out of my driveway. The unit has all the OEM functions (A/C control, CD changer + modern functions like android auto and spotify.
  20. Hello , I recently bought a nissan march k12 2002 There is problem , when accelerating a noise comes from the front . The front vibrates and the sound goes like 'brrrrrrrr'. I already showed this problem to a mechanic and he said that its the silencer and its loose. So he fixed it but still the problem exists. Does anyone know what the issue is? Also i heard that there is a place speaclized in nissan march repairs but it couldnt find it. If you know this place pls reply.

  22. Hi all, I'm looking for a sedan in 2.0-3.0 Mil range. I think Nissan Bluebird Sylphy 2003,2004 (FG10) 1500cc is a decent car for that price range. I was looking for a Corolla 121 but now they are over priced. So I don't think it's worth the money. Anyhow, I am interested on knowing what the best available vehicles within my budget. So any suggestions? Are there any common issues / repairs in FG10 1500cc variant? Is it a reliable car? How's the acceleration of the 1.5 engine? (I'm asking about the power to weight ratio) How's the fuel consumption? Thanks in advance.
  23. So guys I got a 2008 Nissan Teana J32 and I've been suffering from the inability to reverse properly without a reversing camara. The car has some aftermarket reverse sensors that doesn't work properly and because of the sheer size of the Teana it's very hard to reverse properly. So I'm thinking of a entertainment system upgrade and I'm looking for any suggestions that will help my cause. This is the stock entertainment system and I don't want any flashy RGB android 10 system to disrupt this simplistic atmosphere. All I want from this upgrade is good rear visibility and some bluetooth audio for calling purposes. Any suggestion is highly appreciated
  24. Hey guys so this is my first post in the forum and I'm thinking of logging everything I'm doing for the car in this thread. So this is my first car, it's a 2008 Nissan Teana j32 with a VQ25DE engine. The car has 111k km on the clock and still runs smoothly. The previous owner had everything documented (services, part invoices) so I'm a bit lucky there. I'm about to do my first service and I'm thinking of doing a full fluid flush including the CVT oil as well. So my aim is to make this car as luxurious as possible that includes suspension change and anything that makes the ride comfort pristine. Throw me any questions or tips regarding my mission and I hope to update everything happens to the car regularly. Cheers✌️
