Greetings gentlemen, I came across a Fiat Palio car when searching for a Grande Punto. Priced at a ridiculous 900K, I am about to make an impulse purchase. Please advice me on the purchase. Here are the details Make and model - Fiat Palio Stile 2007 Sport 1.6L Registered -2007 Odo - 75,000 km Petrol, Manual transmission My expectations are to find a car to get my hands dirty with mechanics and electronics, have some fun riding/towing/ pushing around this thing, and sell this within 2-4 years with the lowest depreciation. This didn't look like a popular car in the first place. A few online reviews didn't tell much other than how unsafe the car is. A search on Autolanka forum gave only one topic with only the OP. I would like to know form anyone who owned a Palio if to buy this, what to look for when buying, and any caveats regarding this particular model. PS. It's an unusual color, is from outstation although the licence plate is a western province, and the owner says 16 km/L (lol). Which might partly explain the low price. Edit - The specific one that I was talking about was sold. Still your advice is appreciated in case I came across another Palio.

Hi all, i have been following you all's post and advice's and what not in this forum. And yes i have used the search function before i am posting this question. My car has an electronic carb, or a sensor carb as you may call. Aaaand many mechanics are reluctant to tune the carb because of that reason. I have went to like 3 or 4 people, also called Mr.Dhammika at cotta road, and also IMTC to see if they do my car. But nope, they dont do this specific make. I want to know if any of you have electronic.sensor carbs? aaand is there any person you can recommend me for this. btw, my car is a Fiat Bravo 1996 MK1. The reason behind im going for a tuneup is that because of the low fuel consumption, does like 5km/l when the tank is below the halfway mark, will do like 8km/l above the halfway mark. Air Filter is good, changed oil filter, new spark plugs are all there. and there is no issue/leaks with the exhaust. Sorry in advance for the longer thread

I was wondering why there isnt a Fiat/Italian/Euro community in the threads, yes i know they are scarce than japanese and indian cars, but also on the other hand i have seen many posts on puntos and other euro cars here. Also saw BMW, Benz, Peugeot communities. Almost feel sad for not having a fiat community although many help is received from the community, and kudos to that Regards, fiatLife

Cheers to Everyone! I'm a newbie to the maximum.. I started following this forum very recently and I have found it extremely usefull to me just as for you guys. So thumbs up to everyone who is sharing there experiences and knowledge.. Guys! I'm looking to buy a car for our family as soon as possible. These are the things I'm really considering at this moment. 1.) Our budget is around 1.5M (Max of 1.7M) 2.) As we are getting a part of it by a loan from dad's office the vehicle need to be registered within the past 12 years. 3.) This won't be a daily runner but, having a fuel economy of 11/12kmpl on citys is somewhat expected. (This might not be practical for this situation) Maybe used about 100km per week, this is just a rough idea, not so sure. 4.) Manuals are prefered, would go for an auto unless we don't have any good condition manuals in the market. (As we are hoping to buy one within atleast 2-3weeks) So right now these are the vehicles I have been looking for, Mazda Demios, Fiat Puntos and some Peugeots. I have no idea of buying Indian stuff and dad doesn't like perodua kelisas, marchs, swifts etc.. Test drove a Peugeot 307, a 2002 one registered in 2007. Used in UK, 150k on clock upto date. It felt so great with almost every aspect, but then again I'm a total newbie when it comes to inspection. I guess I was too excited since it was the first time, I even forgot to check wheher it had power mirrors :yahoo:It's 1.5M, 10kmpl on citys as he said. Petrol, 1.3 if my memory is right no alloy wheels, body condition was good. Is it worth for a 1.475M? And guys I'm sorry about the length of this post.. Just two more clarifications, In the 307 the signal light lever on the left and the wiper lever on the right. is it same for all european vehicles in SL? And how much would be necessary to maintain a usual car for an year apart from the insurance? Thanx in advance!!

My 2007 Fiat Punto (petrol) has a 5 speed dualogic gearbox. This has both auto and manual modes. The gearbox doesnt go to auto mode but the manual mode is working. when we called up the service center, they said that the clutch might have to be replaced. further they said that untill this is fixed its okay to run on manual mode. so we ran on manual mode for couple of days, and suddenly the auto mode started working again. The dashboard LCD gives a message as "check transmission" from time to time now. but if there is a clutch issue, im guessing that it should affect both auto and manual modes. can anybody please give me some advise? Anyways im planning to take her to the service centre as my service is due in couple of weeks.
