  1. Hi Guys, I'm planning on buying my first car and the choices I've narrowed down are 1. Cefiro 230 2. Cefiro 250 3. Bluebird G11 4. Mark X (bit over budget) 5. Premio 240 6. Corolla 141 7. Civic FD1 and FD4 Having combed through the threads, I could not find much details on the newer cefiro version although the a33 had been discussed thoroughly. What I'm concerned about is whether the newer version will have the same problems as the notorious a33? In general, given the above choices what would you experts choose? Also if possible user experience will be appreciated - I.e. fuel consumption (in traffic vs highways), frequency of repairs, availability of parts - on each of the above models (the information available on the forums right now seem outdated). Also if I were to buy one, to get a check done would you recommend c*r checks or t*y*ta lank* or is there some other provider I'm not aware of? Note: 4 people will be travelling regularly and monthly distance covered is expected to be below 1000 km and I have zero knowledge on cars 😬 😔 Thanks in advance 😁

    Pick the best car

Hello fellas, I need some help to pick the best car among these, since which is my first car, I'm curious a bit. wanna know the durability, after market price etc. What's better, Toyota Ceres Marino or Nissan March K11? Thank You!
  3. Hi, I'm planning to buy my 1st car. I was interested in hybrid and EV models hoping they would be more economical but after reading some threads here it seems I'm wrong. I was looking about Toyota Aqua, Honda Fit (GP5), Honda Freed and Nissan Leaf(seems not so reliable for long journey) and seen more negative comments than I thought. I don't know much about cars(even my parents didn't have one) and I would like to here the opinions/suggestions from the experts. Below are some of my concerns. This is going to be my 1st car. Would be better if the maintenance is easier and economical in terms of maintenance and fuel consumption. I don't want to invest a lot in a vehicle. I prefer to have good resale value in case I want to switch to an EV model once it become more reliable here. My budget is 4m, but can go little up if it's worthy (have to obtain personal loan for around 2.5/3m). I would love if I can get something below that budget as I don't like paying lot of interest for a loan and loan interest rates are high now. Minimum of 5 seats and good boot space. Would love if 6/7 seater available at this price (like Honda Freed). I would prefer safer ones with 5 or 8 airbags (because in most cases would be driven with all seats occupied) Most of the time will be driven in Colombo city and would take for long journey on vaccations/special occasions. Love to have latest features in the interior. In terms of exterio body shape, I dont like box types(like in Suzuki Every) but that wouldn't be a deciding factor. More concerned about interior than exterior.
  4. Guys, I'm a young engineer working in Dubai. Usually I come to Sri Lanka twice a year (2 weeks each) for vacation and whenever I come I have to get a rented vehicle for my travelling. On average it costs me around 120k per year for rented vehicles alone. Considering this money drain and my plan to work in Dubai for next 5-6 years, I'm thinking of buying a vehicle for myself. Following are my requirements, concerns. 1. Fuel efficiency is not important, 8-9 km/l is enough 2. Need to have good ground clearance as I will ride on it roads less traveled in the hill country. But I'm not a serious offroader 3. Should be easy to maintain, repair as I don't have much mechanical knowledge and don't want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere 4. Usual occupancy will be 2-3 people 5. Should be auto gear as I have never driven a manual ever since that last ride at RMV Werahara 6. I will probably sell it after 5 years, so resale value is a matter Vehicles I'm interested in are, Suzuki Jimny (3rd gen.), Honda HRV, CRV, Pajero Junior, Pajero IO, Nissan Xtrail (1st gen.). So which one of these are better considering my concerns? Appreciate your valuable comments P.S. If you ask why I buy without continuing to rent a.) For the next 5 years I will have to spend 120x5 = 6 lakhs on rented vehicles. b.) However, if I managed to buy it around 2M there will be a opportunity cost of 160x5 = 8 lakhs (considering FD for 2M at 8% interest) c.) Insurance cost will be 25x5 = 1.25 lakhs d.) I allow 3 lakhs for maintenance and repair over the next 5 years e.) I assume I won't make a profit or loss by selling it (in real terms) after 5 years. So its a vs b,c, and d (6 lakhs against 12.25 lakhs). Odds are against my decision of buying one for myself. But there is this feel good factor by owning a vehicle in SL which cannot be measured. This will be my 1st vehicle in SL.
  5. Hi guys, I know there are loads of threads regarding queries and advises on choosing a new car, or choosing between an Indian new one or a used Japanese. These threads are quite old and my problems are a bit complicated, so thought of seeking expert opinion of you guys 1. I plan to buy the car with a leasing package and hope to use the car for at least 3 - 5 years.. 2. I have zero technical knowledge regarding cars/ vehicles as I have never driven one before. 3. Since I am going for leasing, I don't want to be spending much and frequently on the maintenance / repairs of the vehicle, hence I am reluctant to go for a car which is too old.. 4. Need to travel 25-30 km daily, hence fuel efficiency is also important. 5. Budget - 1.1 -1.3 million Please suggest a good option for me considering the above factors. I like the new Maruti Alto 800 too, though it is priced at 1.42 million, I can go for it since its a brand new vehicle ( lease rentals would also be a little low ) I also gave a thought about the Hyundai Accent - auto, which I heard from a friend is a decent car + the price is very good for an automatic car. Also, Kia Rio - Auto seems good for that price But complicated in selecting options above or some other option, which seems bleak at this stage Please suggest. Thanks in advance Cheers!
