Guys , my brother has got a $25000 permit and is planning to buy a c class c220cdi diesel car with +$5000 allowance. Totally $30000 worth. I checked the site and it showed a very basic edition c class in the pic. Could someone here who knows about this permit vehicle tell me is it worth buying ? Are features sufficient ? A rough list of features anyone ? I'm gone abroad and unable to get one directly from dealer. Thanks. P.S., he's not interested in BMW or Audi - bad resale value. In case I've got a $25000 vehicle permit, and I want a car such as a mercedes benz b class diesel (which is not offered by dealer), is there a possibility of importing the car by any other means ? Third party dealers or so ?

How much is a BMW 520D “permit version”? I am being quoted between 11 and 13 Million. Apparently the government officials’ permits are now transferable. I met a car dealer yesterday. He had just sold a “Permit vehicle”, the buyer was there with him. According to him, the transfer is "free" (other than the normal DMV/RMV fees.) Have not done a transfer myself, cannot guarantee accuracy of this information. Thanks

I'm new to this Forum. Can anybody tell me Gift permit (or any other permit) is still available for Sri Lankan citizens who are working abroad? According to government's website gift permit has been suspended since December 2011 (http://www.imexport....-events〈=en) :speechless-smiley-019: . But I doubt whether they again started issuing these permits or not. Does anyone know about the latest status of it? I have sent money (more than 20,000 USD) to Sri Lanka during my 2 years of stay in abroad. I'm still working abroad and I have evidence to prove my remittance to Sri Lanka. Is there anyway I can import a car older than 2 years? Any help would be appreciated!

I ordered the 2012 Audi A4 using a permit, $25k max. The car is supposed to land sometime in June. The permit says its a 60% tax, am I affected by the new tax policy? Vehicle was ordered in November.

Hi everybody, Can anyone shed some light on what will happen to the government employee vehicle permits? Will that be continued or is there any news that the government is going to invalidate them in near future? And most importantly, will the newly introduced tax affect to the permit holders as well?
