I recently bought a Lancer Ex 2008 GLS which is a A/T car. I'm using 95 Octane as fuel. I can only get 8 to 9 KM/L out of it in city limits. I heard that manual Lancer EX does more than 12, 13 KM/L in city limits. My questions are Is there a ECO mode where I gain get more? Best practices to be followed(in A/T)? How can I improve? Any techniques or advice? Thanks in advance

Hi Automobiles or cars as we used call them, has long become a commodity and are now mass produced trade items that aims to fulfill the automotive requirements of contemporary human beings, whose day to day routines IMHO, are much more sophisticated now and reflect the chaotic and busy social, economic aspects of modern societies. Due to such scenario, most of us has lost certain feel good factor and innocence that we had when we were growing up (applies more to people who have grown up in 80's and 90's). IMHO, the cars themselves too, whilst become state-of-the-art and technologically revolutionary by every passing year, has lost a certain character and enthusiasts who love cars manufactured in 90's or early 00's, may agree that, their cars has such personality and character, that most modern cars (even the current models of their favorite make) lacks and thus continues to TLC their cars with great dedication and soul. IMHO, For example, a BMW car manufactured in 90's (or early 00's) has such a timeless design aesthetics and driving a well maintained car will give the impression that, people who made that car has such attention to detail, workmanship, passion and are mostly assembled in original factory of the maker. Now a modern BMW for example is mostly put together by robots and are mass-produced items in countries like India or china (no offense to the countries) and during recent ride in a 2015 5 series, I got the impression that, whilst the Car is modern looking and dripping with latest technologies, it lacked that certain character that old ones had and I got the impression that some of the materials used in the new car may not be durable as the ones in older cars. No I cannot afford a 2015 BMW for the time being I do not intent to discourage anyone from buying one. Also I do not intent to undervalue the brilliant tech or modern aspects of new cars, However, my heart always races when i see a mint condition older car (exclusively euro car as I am an euro car enthusiast) on the roads and I don't get the same excitement when I see modern cars. Hi all, I have a Mitsubishi pajero 2.8 exceed (manufactured in 1995) in which I have recently observed that the engine sound is little bit louder than usual with little vibration as well. My fuel consumption is also not very good it seams around 4-5 km per liter which I think should work more than that (I have recently bought the vehicle and have very little idea on this). my engine seem healthy with no oil leakages, no oil burning or black smoke. One of my friend told me this might link with diesel pump timing issue. Does any of you have any idea about the issue or can anyone point me to a good repairmen who is good with pajeros. It would be a big help friend since I am in big headache with this issue.

I have a 252-xxxx L200 2 wheel version. After the regular service which has done few two days ago, I hear a metal scratching noise when I turn the steering wheel. Today the sound got increased more and more and the steering got hard to turn. As soon as I came home, I checked the power steering pump. All the oil has gone. There is no leak in the pump horse lines. But in the power steering box, oil was all over the lower part. I put new oil and it took around 500ml to bring the oil level to max. I whipped out the oil on the box and chassis.Then I started the engine and turned the wheel many times.I cant see any new oil leak. But haven't driven after that. Is it OK to drive in this condition? what can be the reason for leak? Thanks! PS - These images are taken before whipping out the leaked oil.

Hi Guys... So I sold my FD1 and the Alto(sister owned，abused by me)... Happy news is my brother bought the FD1... So now I am back to car hunting.. I am gonna get a 2011 Audi A4 for me.. Enough OT, sry abt that... Here is the issue. The Alto was bought by my sister and her husband.. But soon they started disliking the car and I just ran it and sorta riced it.. And we sold it off.. They are now going to buy a Pajero Io. Probably a post 2001 model.. We used to own one back in the day when they just landed in the country.. Since it was vrand new we ran it well and sold ot off on 2 years and moved to something else... It had all the bells and whistles the io came in... Now the issue is,we will be buying one second hand,and now they are bit old..how are they coping up? I checked all the threads in the forum. But most were dated at 2013 max.. So I want to know the current situation of the io`s. Has the pump failing got any permanent solutions? How much is a pump ? What should I pay for an io? Anything to look at specifically when buying?(we check it at that car checks place anyway) Can I find a fully loaded model? How are parts priced? Any other alternative vehicle to look for?max is 2.6 million. Should be a mini suv or small crossover cos the roads we run are shitty and full of pot holes.. Thanx all. Sorry for the loooong rant

Hi, I am experiencing some slight hesitation when i accelerate from a stand still. I cleaned up the distributor cap and the contacts to the wires but I still seem to be having this problem. While driving the car pulls very well (no misfiring). During idle there is zero vibration. Any idea what I need to check? How do I know if my distributor is working fine? Thanks.

Fellow petrolheads, we're planning to have a Mitsubishi Galant/Legnum meetup on 14th February 2016 at 2.00PM at Parliament Grounds. (This Sunday) As far as I can tell, this will be a low key event since (As far as I know) this is the first time we're having something like this. I have a Mitsubishi L200 2 wheel vehicle(252-xxxx). It's radiator fan cover(Shroud) is broken. When I drive the vehicle, the heat level is normal. But when I park the vehicle with AC on, heat goes up very fast. When the AC is off, the rate of increase is low. I guess the rate has increased due to the above reason of not having the fan cover. I tired to find a used one. Still not found. There are brand new ones in Unit#d Mot#rs. But the price is very high. What is your idea of not having it ? Will it damage the engine? Thanks Andun

Hi Expert I was start ride on Lancer CS3 from last month. I have following issue with my car. Previous owner has been used duplicate key while Original key keep in safe custody. It is very hard to start car with both original or duplicate key. For start the car need extra power to push key in to hole and need turn key with same power. Removing key from hole also not easy and key hit against some thing. When key turning normal pressure, Dash board digital clock and Radio back light got dimmed. What is the reason for this? According to one of my friend it is the symptoms of Worn out key barrel. Doors can open with key. If my ignition key barrel worn out, what is the my next step. Do I need to replace whole key barrel or Can I repair key barrel? Is any good place around Kandy to do this job Thank you for the support regards Amila

Hi All, I'm looking for a good place repair my Mitsubishi Lancer EX. It would be great if the particular technical person has worked in Unit#d Mot#rs. So I can assume that he's specialized in Mitsubishi. Also should be a honest and reliable guy otherwise I won't be able to keep my car in the garage for 2/3 days. Because I recently had a really bad experience with a Makabas. Given that it doesn't matter whether it's little bit expensive but not as company. Hi guys, I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Magna VRX 5 speed triptroninc front wheel drive, which clocked 120,000kms. The problem I am having with the car is it has a rattling sound in transmission in cold starts. Also it changes gears, 1st - 2nd when rpm hits around 2500, and rest changes around 2000 mark. Can you guys give me your expert advice on this matter? Cheers

Hi all, I just had my L200 double cab serviced at Un*t*d motors, hyde park at the mileage of 35000km. They had changed the engine oil and billed me for sae30(used for petrol engines) but when i checked the oil it was all black without even running.according to the service guy its black because the engine has run a few minutes. Do the engine oil get blackened just as the engine is run for a such a short time?? Or are the service guys cheating on oil? also they had changed the oil filter which is due to be changed at 40k, mistakenly,. And had thrown the old one to the dustbin so i had to pay for the new one

Below are the 2 types of Mitsubishi Lancer EX 2008 I found it Sri Lanka. 1) GLX - Basic options 2) GLS - Basic options, fog lamps, climatic aircon, steering wheel radio remotes, auto-rain/light sensors, key-less entry and boot release button, 2 map lights at the rear view mirror there and 1 cabin light at the center. Let's assume that both types of cars are in same condition. Used but in good condition. 1. What would be the price difference GLX vs GLS? Ballpark figure would be fine. 2. Is it worth to go for a GLX? 3. Any other disadvantages other than features GLX vs GLS? As a side note which one is better? Both owners are expecting 32/= GLX - 40k millage GLS - 70k millage Both are in good condition. Thanks
