  1. Hi Expert I was start ride on Lancer CS3 from last month. I have following issue with my car. Previous owner has been used duplicate key while Original key keep in safe custody. It is very hard to start car with both original or duplicate key. For start the car need extra power to push key in to hole and need turn key with same power. Removing key from hole also not easy and key hit against some thing. When key turning normal pressure, Dash board digital clock and Radio back light got dimmed. What is the reason for this? According to one of my friend it is the symptoms of Worn out key barrel. Doors can open with key. If my ignition key barrel worn out, what is the my next step. Do I need to replace whole key barrel or Can I repair key barrel? Is any good place around Kandy to do this job Thank you for the support regards Amila
  2. I am inspecting a Mitsubishi lancer GLX 2008 which i like to buy. The car looks in good condition, except for one issue. The SRS indicator light keeps lit. I've heard that airbag indicators act abnormally due to seat position detection problems. I am not sure if this is the case. But in any case, i checked with a technician. After doing the scans he mentioned that there is a malfunction in one of the srs indicator circuits (front) and i might have to replace it. What i want to know is how big a repair this could be. If anyone have an idea on how much it could cost if i had to replace this circuit or if any other solutions exists, i would really appreciate it. The vehicle comes for a fairly lower price compared to the other ones in the market, so i would like to know if its worth taking the gamble. Thanks in advance. Sorry if a topic already exists for this issue. I did search, but i couldn't find any leads.

  4. Dear Friends, There was a very old topic which already discussed about modiying a 1978 Lancer A72. Since thats too old, I want to get some information according to the current situation. Lancer lovers, owners, enthusiasts, please be kind enough to write down all usefull information & advise on below areas. The versions, model numbers and unique features to identify original lancer flat light / tube light models ? How reliable are these today, specially to be used as a daily runner & for frequent long drives ? Maintenance & availability of parts (Body parts / mechanical parts) ?   6. Hi All, I'm looking for a good place repair my Mitsubishi Lancer EX. It would be great if the particular technical person has worked in Unit#d Mot#rs. So I can assume that he's specialized in Mitsubishi. Also should be a honest and reliable guy otherwise I won't be able to keep my car in the garage for 2/3 days. Because I recently had a really bad experience with a Makabas. Given that it doesn't matter whether it's little bit expensive but not as company.   9. Hi Guys, We are planning to buy "Mitsubishi Lancer CS3 2008" or "Nissan N17 2008". More or less both are same except engine capacity (CS3 - 1600cc and N17 - 1300cc). CS3 will cost 2.3 and N17 will cost 2.2. As far your experience which one is more worth to buy? Thanks

Below are the 2 types of Mitsubishi Lancer EX 2008 I found it Sri Lanka. 1) GLX - Basic options 2) GLS - Basic options, fog lamps, climatic aircon, steering wheel radio remotes, auto-rain/light sensors, key-less entry and boot release button, 2 map lights at the rear view mirror there and 1 cabin light at the center. Let's assume that both types of cars are in same condition. Used but in good condition. 1. What would be the price difference GLX vs GLS? Ballpark figure would be fine. 2. Is it worth to go for a GLX? 3. Any other disadvantages other than features GLX vs GLS? As a side note which one is better? Both owners are expecting 32/= GLX - 40k millage GLS - 70k millage Both are in good condition. Thanks
  12. Hi All, I am about to replace the front brake pads of my Lancer CS1. I have checked the price from Unit#d Mot#rs and they sell it for Rs.14,800/= However I was able to find after market products around Rs.4000/= from other places. Is there any real difference exists between genuine Mitsubishi brake pads and after market products? Is it still safer to go with genuine Mitsubishi brake pads when considering the price?

    Lancer Cb8

    Hi, Brought a 1994 Lancer CB8 and planing to do some engine maintenance works before use as daily runner. 1. Replace Timing belt 2. Replace Clutch plates 3. Replace AC/Fan belts 4. Break pads 5. Cleaning the radiator and check whole cooling system Thought to get some advises from you guys before. Is there anything i should do initially..? Any idea about the cost? Place to buy those spare parts i needed..? please help me diesel lancer guys.... thanks.
  14. Hi All, Currently I'm driving a 2008 model Lancer GLX (1.3 engine) and hoping to upgrade it to Lancer Ex. But a lot of people including some owners warned me about an ABS sensor issue. I want to know all the known issues related to this model and the description of each trim level (e.g. GLS) for Lancer Ex. Hope experts can help. Note: I have read all the related topics on the forum. But I was unable to find any issues other than the ABS sensor issue.

  18. Hey guys! I am interested in buying this CK2 that I saw today. It is in really good condition, except for some minor bodywork. The engine is in immaculate condition and it runs perfectly, but I have a question about that. There is like a huge empty space on the upper right side under the hood. I did a test run and the vehicle runs very smoothly. Im not much of a mechanical minded guy...but that empty space is just driving me crazy. I don't know if i should buy the vehicle or not. Very confused. I wanna know if all CK2's come like that or if anything needs to be fixed. I've added a google pic and pointed out in red; the section that looks empty. Btw, im not sure if that air filter (if im right) was there...can an engine run smoothly without an air filter? (again, I suck at the auto mechanics, so please take it easy on me) Car specs: Lancer CK2, YOM - 2000, One owner (Company Maintained), 1500cc, Manual. Please explain in simple terms. Thanks
  19. Guys, I need some help with the colling system wiring of my 1993 Mirage. Basically yesterday while I was driving back the temperature shot up and boiled. I discovered the issue was that the radiator fan was not working. While I was investigating the problem I realised that the wiring of the fan was a bit of a mess. And because the fan was changed (possibly a couple of times but I changed it 6 months ago due to broken fins) and the wiring was modified (possibly by the AC guy a couple of years ago) I was at a loss to figure out how the damn thing should work. From what I can figure the thermosistor switch in this car is in the radiator in the bottom. It has two wires but only one is connected to anything, the other was blanked out using insulation tape. Something is not right there. I haven't figured out whether the termosistor switch works anymore or not. The fan connector (no gurantee this is original but could be) seems to have three wires coming out of it. The fan sees to need only two but of course this is not the original fan. The thermosistor switch has a 2 wire connector. When I found the circuit the thermosistor switch had one wire joined up with the ground of the fan directly though there was nothing connected to the other end of the thermosistor switch. The positive wire was connected to one of the wires in the fan connector and one wire of the fan connector is not linked to anything. A neighbour helped me a bit and he figured that there were two ground wires and one positive in the fan connector (at least now, remember wiring could have been altered at the other end) and if the fan is connected to one (coloured) ground wire and the other positive wire (this wasn't how I found the circuit but this is what we figured) connecting the battery negative to big ground wire on the fan connector seems to start the fan. Now this could be the wire the thermosistor switch is supposed to connect to but as I said before it had only one wire connected to anything. But the radiator fan should also come on when the AC is on with the condenser fan. That does not happen. I have found one positive wire that was lying around again not connected to anything that comes on when the AC circuit is on, so this could be the missing link, but I am not sure where its supposed to connect to. From what I understand the radiator fan should work in the following way. If the water temperature is above 85C the themosistor switch will complete the circuit and turn the fan on. When the AC is turned on another relay also triggers the radiator fan on. I have found this circuit diagram for an older Mitsubishi but assume it could be similar in my car as well. There are 3 relayes in my setup as well (on the far side near the front headlamp). http://manual.pajero4x4.ru/?wpfb_dl=3571 Could somebody confirm that the setup is the same in later Mitsubishis (1993) and could someone please explain connections going into the radiator fan motor, just to confirm what I've assumed.   20. Hi Friends, I'm having bit of issues when starting my car in the morning or whatever time when engine is cold. This is a Lancer CB2 with 4g15 carb engine. Have two problems actually. 1. when I crank the engine in cold it would start right away and rpm jumps to around 1300 for around 2-3 seconds and then comes back to around 300. Again the choke kicks in and rpm again goes above 1000 for a minite and again come down afterwards. Sometimes the engine stops unless I rev it for bit. RPM keeps fluctating like this until the engine gets heated up for normal operating temp. (To put it simply fast idling happens only time to time ) Once the engine heated up rpm settles around 700 and no issues afterwards. How to solve this? choke seems not working continuously. 2. Other problem is related to riding experience. I could hear engine knock when pressing on gas hard in mostly in 3rd & 4th gears. Have noticed this happens only after engine got heated up for normal operating temp and until that knocking will not occur. And I don't see any lag in pulling power nor other riding issues . What could be the reason ? Note: I'm not actually sure whether this is engine knock sound. But the sound is similar when we try to press more gas when rpm is low for that particular gear. Appreciate your valuable advices on this. Thanks.
  21. Hi Guys, Since recently I'm facing some issues with my car when the engine heats up to its operating temperature. Car is Lancer CB2 1994 (4G15 Carb engine). when I start the car in the morning it starts up without any issue and engine RPM stays at 1000. But after some driving about 10 mins, following could be noted, 1. When I stop and try to start the engine when it is heated, it starts with difficulty and engine revs slowly around 400 - 500. (without AC). But I don't feel any low pulling power when driving. 2. When heated, it starts to emit smoke but this happens intermittently. (at cold start no smoke) I have replaced all 4 plugs recently but it didn't help. Also engine miss fires a bit in the morning but goes off when engine gets heated. what would be the reason for above? Thanks. PS: Today when I start in the morning it started to emit white smoke after being idle for about 5 mins. I reved the engine a bit and then the smoke turned blue.

  23. Hi my dearest car enthusiasts and experts.. :-) Although many people asked me to modify my lancer I never liked it except for a spoiler and may be some trimmed side skirts. I've tried my best to maintain its original looks but now it has been some time since I bought the car (brand new) and the paint is slightly faded. Thought of doing a good paint job and fitting a Evo iv type spoiler.     About Lancer Cb2A 1994

    Hi friends, I had recently bought above car (Lancer CB2A) and this is my first car. It was a 1994 brandnew manual transmission with 4G15 engine (Carb). It has about 164K logged. Had done few running repairs like clutch adjustment , fixing radiator fan issue recently and didn't had any more troubles for now. Previous owner said the timing belt was replaced recently and also had new battery and tires. Just want to know whether there are any known issues exist for this particular model and also would like to hear some expert advices from you guys on maintaining her. I'm not a daily runner and use the car only in Weekends. Thanks in advance !
