  1. From few days in my Honda Fit GP5 2014, the car audio system (pioneer AVH-265BT) can only operate on the reverse gear. If I'm not on the reverse gear setup is fully locked and I can't control anything. (Buttons are not working and display is turned off) To go to the menu or change the channel I have to put my car into the reverse gear. Does anyone have a clue about what's going on here?
  2. Hi Guys, Does anyone here knows whether we can change the language of Audio Setup in honda fit gp1. It's Gathers VXM 128VS. I'm curious has anyone done it before or if it's possible. I my self tried this using the Manual and couldn't succeed. There were couple of YouTube videos as well which we can use google translator to find out correct language settings that didn't work as well. If you guys have any experience or knows a place a do so I would be really great full.
  3. My GP1 (2011) AC was repaired by Stafford on a same day they changed the Air bags.they have done a service and replaced 8 "O"rings ( i was not there actually ,I admit to garage and collect it in afternoon) . charged me 13K. it was OK for 2 weeks and today suddenly AC stopped working in a middle of the hot day. before that, car was at the car park with the AC running around 10-15 min. then when i start the journey, with in 2, 3 min time I realized this issue. I checked the AC fans and compressor Click sound , nothing. I let the car to cool down for 30 min and tried. AC start working again. compressor and fans are fine now. What could be the issue? one AC man said it could be a fail safe mechanism has been switched on and stooped the total AC system due to some kind of issue. high pressure or temperature ..etc may be i have parked the car and let the AC running for 15 min and there will be less air circulation with condenser ..etc. has any on come across this kind of issue?
  4. Hello guys, I'm looking to buy a Honda Fit Aria GD8, and my concern is most of the car mileage is around 150k, since this is my first car and for the price will it be worth and will be there any problem with 150k mileage and should we expect any engine issues?, if anyone can call me and help personally appreciated much
  5. I own a Honda Fit Hybrid car with year of manufacture as 2012(GP1). It's odometer reads 71000 km to the date. Speaking about the vehicle's history, it hasn't given me any issue till after the completion of 65000 km reading. As usual we all know that at around 40000km we need to replace the drive train oil or otherwise it gives the indication of HMMF(Honda Multi Matic Fluid) replacement. I performed the procedure when the vehicle was at 38000km mark and scanned and reset the vehicle's ECU. Since then the only replacement I have done for the vehicle was its 12V battery. Please note that almost all Honda Hybrid vehicle's doesn't have an alternator to charge the 12V battery, it is always charged from the High Voltage battery when the vehicle is started. So that if you encounter any problem with the high voltage battery, it stops charging the primary battery where the end result would be vehicle's total system failure. If you see the red battery light on in your display while you're driving it means your primary battery isn't charging form the secondary battery. First you check the fuse box for blown fuse and in most of the cases that would be the issue. Still after replacing the fuse you have to scan the ECU and reset the fault codes. If you ignore the CHECK BATTERY indication it will lead to IMA indication. There after the vehicle's ECU disconnects the High Voltage battery form the drive train for safety purposes. That is one of the ways you get the IMA indication on your vehicle. At around 60000km mark I encountered a new issue. The engine started to give a knock and the CHECK ENGINE light came on. Since it is not an issue for me to resolve I went to a professional for help. He scanned the vehicle for fault codes and informed me that there are some blockages in the fuel injectors and the engine is running lean. (Engine running lean means that the fuel injected to the chamber is ignited with excessive amount of air.) It could be either a problem with the fuel injectors or a problem with air intake. The professional informed me to go for an injector cleaning. The issue was no more after the injector cleaning process. Then came the high voltage battery overheating problem. The system scan showed that the HV battery cooling fan malfunction. We removed the battery and checked the fan separately and it worked fine. After consulting an Engineer at Honda we understood that the battery cooling fan works in 3 stages in Honda, depending on the heat produced by the battery. Due to some electronic failure in the fan driver it didn't change speeds. Therefore i had to replace the fan which cost me around 40000/= . Since then the car became even smoother to drive. The efficiency popped up to 20-22km/l and the high voltage battery bank was at 75% of its initial capacity even after 6 years from manufacture. If you have any information about the problems like this and their fixes I am keen to learn.
  6. I heard that there is an oil burning issue in Honda Fit GP1.
  7. Hi, My friend has a Honda FIT Hybrid Model DAA-GP1. Few weeks back he got his vehicle check engine lights on and put his vehicle for diagnosis at local Honda Agents. They said there is an engine oil burning issue and hence they advice him to do engine flush clean-up along with spark plugs & injector cleaning. Then as per their advice he did above. During the repair they changed engine oil from 0W-20 to 10W-30 stating that its advisable to move to a higher viscosity oil grade in case of oil burning. It costed nearly Rs 20k. Then again just few days after his repair, Check Engine lights came again. Hence went again to Agents & they said it's a known issue for my model a hence they need to repair engine by changing Pistons, Piston Rings & other accessories etc etc.. which is kind of engine overhaul which may cost on avg Rs160k ++ . Other option is just clean the pistons without replacing.... which may cost 1/2 of the above price. However they havent recommend same as problem can re-appear. It seems there were similar cases before for same model. My friend got shocked as his vehicle has done only 40,000 ++ Kms. Its totally a design fault. I couldn't believe why Honda can't manufacture an engine which can drive at least 100,000Kms without any issue as I never experienced same either with Toyota or Nissan. However through internet, I found that this is a known issue for Honda Fit & Insight, & hence Honda Japan has issued a recall notice for same. My friends model / Chassis No also falls within the recalled chassis range. Refer below link. ( Open link with Chrome browser and Translate to English via Google translator or refer attached 3 images ) http://www.honda.co.jp/recall/auto/other/170120.html Seems initial Piston design allows sludge formation on the edge of the piston oil ring, hence it may result in poor sealing of the oil ring. Due to above it may cause engine oil to leak into engine combustion chamber which causes cylinder misfire hencec trigger Check Engine Lights. Sometimes even short circuit spark plugs. In the recall notice Honda has clearly mentioned below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chassis No range - Honda Fit : GP1-1200002 to GP1-1242186 May 10, Heisei 24 - August 2, Heisei 20 [Request to customers] 1) We are very sorry for everyone you love us, but if the above events occur, please contact the nearest Honda dealer in advance to inform us of your visit date and we will accept your inspection. 2) If parts replacement repair is necessary, we will do it free of charge ( FoC). 3) If you have any questions, please contact the nearest Honda dealer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since this is known recall, when i ask from agents , they informed me that they haven't officially informed to do this free of charge from Honda yet. Q1 : Has anyone experienced similar issue with Honda FIT GP1 ( or Insight ) ? How you have resolved it ? Have you guys replaced pistons + piston rings or only cleaned and re-fixed ? Q2 : I'm planning to write to Honda Japan and check validity of above recall option in SL. Does anyone has contact email of Honda Japan ? I couldn't locate it from their Japanese web site. Has any one tried this option before and any positive response /luck with it ? Thanks.
  8. Hi All, I own a honda fit gp1 2012 model which has an ODO of 62,000km. Couple of days ago it suddenly started to indicate the check engine light. We did few scans, one even from St#fford M#tors. All scans indicated that there's a malfunction in Oxygen sensor. Stafford recommended to replace it straight away asked me a ridiculous amount to replace. I took it to a different well known garage and did replace both sensors but yet it keeps indicating the check engine light. A scan would still indicate the same error as previous. Then we replaced the Air filter package. Still the check engine light would not go away. Once the error is erased by the scanner it would start to re-appear again in few minutes after engine turned off and started. Garage now suggested to do a Tune up with cleaning all injectors etc.. Has anyone else faced this kind of a issue before? What would be the cause for this. Also to tell you same day this started to appear I got someone to replace a bulb in the front. It was the right side bulb of the hazard warning lights. Apparently the guy has tried a wrong bulb and a fuse went off causing both lights to non functioning. He then somehow put the fuse back on and fixed the lights with the correct bulb. I actually didn't thought of that far of the replacement and causes of it since that was just a changing a bulb. Could this be any where close the reason for the check engine light? Because it came up only after few mins of replacing the bulb. I know that was just changing a bulb and a fuse . But it came only after that. yet the scanner keeps showing O2 sensor as the error.

    Honda Fit Liftkit

Hello, I have a 2010 Honda Fit. The suspension needs repair; it squeaks as I drive over speed bumps. The Fit has been a great car from day 1. However I have never been satisfied with how low the car is to the ground. Since I am going to replace the struts/shocks, I am wondering if there is a liftkit, maybe 6" or so, on the market that I can install at the same time?
  10. in my auto gear honda fit hybrid car, (mileage 56 000 KM) I had a engine tune up and changed my injectors (8 injectors) last month and after 2 weeks i started getting a slight knock (jerk or shaking). i remember i have had this once or twice in the last 6 month but it wasnt noticeable and looked like to be as a miss. anyway, now everyday morning when i start the car and drive for like half and hour or hour, it goes smooth and nice. and then in a while it gives the knock. (the time is not fixed, some days in 45 minutes, and some days in 30 minutes and sometimes in 20 minutes after first starting to drive it comes) The knock is like, when i stop at a traffic light and accelerate it comes. it only comes after a break or a stop and accelerate so it comes in low speed. then when driving with the knock, it gets a bit worst and knock (jerk or shaking) goes up, when i drive a little more it becomes more worse. then when i stop for few hours and start back then knock (jerk or shaking) is less and smoothness is bad. so i figured out this is something to do with a heat. when one of vehcile's part becomes very hot it gives the knock. so i went to a small mechanic and as advised changed my Gear box oil (ATF). it didnt fix the issue. then i took it to Honda company by when i got a check engine light and they told to run without the EGR valve, then i did it that and noticed that knock (jerk or shaking) is 50% less but car is not at all smooth. (it takes too much power and was hard) i felt so when driving. then they told to clean it the EGR and drive as the Honda company diagnosed EGR valve is causing trouble. after cleaning it didnt work, so as they told i changed the EGR valve which costed around 500$. And then my vehicle was super smooth and very very comfortable to drive. later after few hours of driving here comes the same knock (jerk or shaking). which confused me. apart from that the honda company told this is not a problem with gear box, (which means they told its not a judgger) Then i took it back to my local bass as he suspected it can also sometimes cause with fault fuel pump. then i changed that too. still the issue is not fixed. Now after having a small internet research i found this is a bit common issue, but only issue is finding the exact issue is difficult. Now i am confused what to do, Company told they will need to remove the transmission and see in the worst case. some times if its a damaged flyweel it can happen. so before taking it to any place anymore to repair i just want to get an experts advise here. Should i check in to these things ? Spark Plug Wires or Spark Plug Starter clutch ignition coil | coil packs motor mount flywheel I really appreciate any feedback that will help me to sort out this issue.
  11. Guys need a small help.. I'm no car expert and I'm trying to buy my very first car so bit cautious that's why posting here. Chosed gp 1 since i felt in love with the look of the car. I'm planning to buy a honda fit gp1 2012 10th anniversary model hybrid car. After negotiations price could be vary between 27.5-28 laks. So after much consideration I brought a guy to inspect the vehicle guy was from Greasemomkey (it was easy as they had a mobile inspection service). Few things I want to get clarified from experts and honda gp1 owners here. At first When the vehicle was breaked in the traffic IMA indicator did not show power transition to hybrid battery. It was still showing fuel engine symbol. but then drive went on further and it started to shift to battery on when stopped in traffic. It was shown in the IMA screen near speed meeter. Inspection guy said this die to car hasn't been driven regularly so the battery isn't charged. So if I do atleast 80-100km drive this won't be a problem. As per the owner of the he drives only once a week. When I asked the inspection guy about the battery percentage he said it was more than 65%. He also said after the test drive it increased. I'm curious on this could this really happen? Also on the scanner it showed faulty for ABS. He said it's not something big only scanner could identify it hence not to worry now I will be able to do more than 5000 kms. If it's something big error will appear in the dashboard. Also there another error it showed for Honda BCM. He said that's also because of ABS issue. He said battery is in good health condition and if I drive few miles consistently percentage will go up. Is that possible? I'm attaching the scan results here. I would be really thankful if anyof you can give me yours opinion whether it's a worthy buy. This vehicle's chassis number doesn't fall for engine oil burning issue which honda recalled. https://www.honda.co.jp/recall/auto/other/170120.html Appreciate your thoughts.... 12. 1. Do modern cars need timing chain replacement ? 2. If so, does any one know when to replace timing chain in Honda GP5 ? 3. As a user why should I care about interference engine or non - interference engine details ? What info would be valuable to us ? 3. Does any one know weather GP5 has interference engine or non - interference engine ?
  13. Hi, I am planning to buy a 2013 Honda Fit GP 4 RS vehicle which has 85,000 km + milage. Kindly share your suggestions and experiences on the same kind of vehicles with all pros and cons. I am in sort of a dilemma cz I do worry about IMA battery condition. Thanks
  14. Please help me to choose best car to invest from below My budget is 3mn and daily travel 50km to colombo and back.fuel cost considerable factor. Aqua car Honda fit Peradua axio Anyother?
  15. My Honda Gp5 coolent resovoir tank cap broken ( noticed today ). Is there a place I can buy it ? Worst case I would buy full tank . Can anyone recommend a place to search ?
  16. Hi All I have a 3 million lkr budget . I am looking for a car to buy but do not like hatch back cars except vitz. I am hoping to buy within a month but still confused what to buy. Please give me some suggestions with you all's experience Thanks
  17. So I was on a hunt for a car for few months. Was initially planning to buy a used Honda GP1. Then decided to buy a GP5 as I saw 2014/15 GP5 being priced around 4 mil price range. Then I thought of importing a reconditioned one as I managed to stretch my budget a bit and spoke with a vehicle importer and asked for quotations. But he said now vehicle taxes has changed and cars like GP5 & Aqua (with 1.5l engine) costs more than before. He suggested going for a smaller engine hybrid like Swift RS or a normal car like Vitz, both of which I have ruled out due to various reasons. Enough ranting ? I have several queries, 1. Most of GP5s advertised are around 50k mileage costing around 4 mil. Some are tagged as "agent maintained". If I buy an “agent maintained” one with records, would I be able to get a car in good condition as per the records with a genuine mileage? 2. I see Honda vezels of 2013/14 priced around 4.3 mil. Has this been the case even before the taxing? Or do the hybrids with medium sized engines now have a lower price tag? 3. Will there be a policy change any time soon? (I know this is a stupid question considering the quality of our policy makers) I am a newb to the fancy metal world. Any answer would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance. ?
  18. Hi, Can someone explain the difference between GP1 and GP5? Are there any other GP versions available? I do not know much things about Honda. Any information regarding my query will be really appreciated. ——————— I used the search function, but it didn’t yield any fruitful result regarding difference between aforementioned models. There are substantial amount of content regarding Fit, but not many things illustrating difference between models. Thanks in advance.
  19. Any one got English honda fit gp5 user manual..?
  20. Hey guys, So just planned to do quick review after driving a specific car as it would help most of the people who seek out details about a particular model. Those entries contain details about how the car is like to drive, comfort level, build quality and interesting facts(if there are any). So I will be unable to post details about long term ownership and maintenance. This review is based on Honda Fit GP5, which is one of the most common cars in SL roads and one of my favourite cars to drive. Driving I have driven this car in hilly areas, bends, stretches and bad roads. So I will be able to give a brief idea about how it is likely to drive. The first thing you notice when you get into a Honda (specially if you are a Toyota owner) how the seating position, dash layout wraps around you. It just makes you feel like you are sitting in a driver’s car. The seating position feels much sporty and lowered. The Honda’s Earth Dreams Hybrid system (even though it has those early clutch replacements and a bit unrefined nature) is a joy to drive. The acceleration is really good even when the car is filled with 5 adults. I drove the car from Padukka to Kegalle once with 5 adults and I never felt that it was underpowered. The Fit will do 0-100kmph around 8-9seconds but I never tested that. But trust me the car has more than enough grunt for day to day driving and sudden overtakes. The steering is really light with a little bit of weight, but much sharper than a toyota. It goes where you direct without a delay. In corners it’s steady, feels much more planted and rigid. Given the size and power, the car is miles ahead in the driving area when compared with a Toyota Aqua, the main competitor. You can corner this really hard without any slips or stability issues. But the issue you’ll find with this car is the unrefined nature of the hybrid system. When you are going slowly round the town, the throttle response is a bit hideous. Sometime you really have to put your foot down to make it get going. When the engine kicks in, it’s much less of a trouble. This is existant in all the three i-DCD equipped models, Grace and Vezel also. Another thing that a felt is that due to the high amount of torque generated by the motor, the car is a bit hard to control during small manevours and specially entering into a garage with a bump. You’ll have to be a bit carefull or otherwise the car will jump forward. Around the town the car is a breeze to handle due to low turning radius and light steering. Comfort When compared with an Aqua, the ride is pretty comfortable, but not as a sedan with softer suspension setting, such as an Axio Hybrid. The seats are on the firm side and the suspension too, but for me the car feels a bit more comfortable than the Aqua. Also the seats hold you better when cornering providing good side support. One thing that you’ll notice is the amount of leg space for the both front and rear occupents when considering the size of the car. It’s really adorable. One day I drove a Fit from Kadawatha to Kegalle and after the journey I felt a bit tired which I never felt in my 121. That’s due to the stiffer suspension and a bit higher road noise levels since it’s a hatch. Interior Quality Most of the materials used are hard plastic. But the finish makes it feel a bit more upmarket. The door panels and dash are nicely finised with silver accents and piano black insertings, so I find the car to be miles ahead when compared with Aqua, Vitz and even the 3rd Gen Prius. The car has much more options such as paddle shifters, brake hold and LCD colour multi information display. Interesting Features and facts -The climate control system is touch sensitive, which cannot be seen on far more expensive car models. It’s really cool, but sometimes a bit harder to control on the move. -During a hard braking, the signal lights alert the rear driver by doing fast pulses. -When you pass 100kmph, there is not much power left. -Just like most Honda’s the original speakers are really good. Make sure to use a good head unit or keep the original japanese one than replacing with a crappy chinses head unit. Overall the GP5 is a car that I really love to drive and would fit a small family with kids nicely. The economy is good but not good as an Aqua. But beware of the dual clutch system and the hybrid battery when you are buying one. This review is based on my personal experiences and other people might have different opinions. If there is anything wrong or inappropriate please let me know. Also that this review is not sufficient as a deciding factor for a new car since it omly covers about the brief time period of driving experience but not MAINTENANCE AND DAILY DRIVING. Looking forward for your comments?Thank you for reading! Cheers! -alpha17-
  21. Recently I met with an accident and I had to replace rear windscreen of my Honda Fit GP4. I handed over the car to Mag C#ty and asked them to handle insurance and everything coz of my busy schedule. They have replaced a duplicate Malaysian windscreen instead of my original Honda one without informing me. And also there was no transparency of the process at all . However, after replacing to a duplicate one vibration noise coming from the rear windscreen when I drive on broken roads. Mag C#ty guys are not accepting this and they are arguing that noise coming from somewhere else. But I pretty sure that's coming from the back door. Can this happen technically? Has anyone experienced this before?
  22. Hi, I would like to get an advice on whether buying a hybrid vehicle (Vezel 2014/15 Aqua 2013/14 and FIT 2014/15) which has been used in sl for a while. Many of my friends say that all of them will be required to change the battery(most used ones have done more than 50000km). This could cost from Rs. 300k -700k. The other issue is apparently vezel has a gearbox issue that would cost approx 700k. As I see alot of these vehicles being available to buy, I am seeking advice if it is a good choice to do so. If so which model. If not any alternative that would fall below 4.3m
  23. Hello everyone. I am looking to buy a new car for like 32 lakhs. I am not a car expert so your ideas will help me alot. I have some options in my mind. I was looking to go for a Hinda Fit gp1 but I saw a post that it has some mechanical problems like engine oil draining. Belta and Yaris and wagon r are my other options. I am going to buy this with a 5 year lease and will be using it for next 5 years. I would use this vehicle for my daily works. Please give me your thoughts and help me to find a good vehicle.
  24. There is no passenger seat belt alarm in my Honda fit gp1 2013. Driver seat belt alarm is working fine. 1. is it the same for all gp1 or is it just mine? 2. if its the same for all the gp1,is there any way of installing a passenger seat belt alarm? (i bought the car second hand so i have no idea whether the previous owner removed it or not.)
  25. Hello , I personally Import a Honda FIT GP5 (2015) on May this year. Now the mileage is around 4250Km.And I was planning to do a service at 5000km. Then I searched for Service Schedule available online , but unable to find them. Then I found that Japanese 'Maintenance note" that came with the "spare smart key". As per it i don't need to do a Engine oil service worst case for 7500km. Can any one give me recommendation on this based on Sri Lankan context. Please see the table. (http://dilancw.blogspot.com/2015/10/honda-fit-gp5-service-maintanence-manual.html ) BTW. About the manual i have a doubt whether that is specific maintenance manual for GP5 or generic one for honda. Thanks in advance.
