  1. Toyota (Lexus) takes orders for an EV from 40,000 GBP upwards, at last! Sure it will have the precision, fit, finish and the refinement of Lexus but lacks the Autonomy of #EV according to the published data. The intelligence specs are far behind not only Tesla, even Nissan Leaf. .....and this indicates the building of a coffin for hyped up FCHV as well! Performance/specs of Lexus UX300e Acceleration 0 - 100 km/h 7.5 sec Top Speed 160 km/h Electric Range 260 km (NEDC) Total Power 150 kW (204 PS) Total Torque 300 Nm Front drive / single motor Battery Capacity * 54.3 kWh Battery Useable* 50.0 kWh Charge Port Type 2 for Europe Charge Power 6.6 kW AC Charge Time (0->260 km) 9 hours Charge Speed 29 km/h Fastcharge Port CHAdeMO Fastcharge Power (max) 50 kW DC Fastcharge Time (26->208 km) 55 min Fastcharge Speed 190 km/h They are late, rivals are much more advanced today. But this is great first step of #Toyota, towards electrification. https://mobility.lk/.../toyota-vw-will-take-over-6-years.../
  2. Hi guys, It's been ages I've been back on the forum but I did thoroughly search the whole forum before posting this I am currently looking for a webpage which I had come across in late 2018, where almost all details of the generation 1 Nissan Leaf was listed comprehensively, including all the differences between each trim levels for JDM (S, X, G) and UKDM (Visia, Acenta, Tekna) along with pictures of different options, even photos of the different standard alloy wheels, navigation units, climate control dials, interior colours and materials which were offered etc. Unfortunately, since it was more than 6 months ago, my search/browser history also does not have details going back that far and like an idiot I could not bookmark it also. In my current searches, I was able to locate some sites with good info but not as detailed as the earlier one, which really helped in getting to know the exact model and trim of cars on sale. If any of you have seen, know which site I'm referring to or come across it, appreciate if you can share it! https://samholford.github.io/leafguide/ https://insideevs.com/news/325877/used-nissan-leaf-buying-guide/ https://www.drivelife.co.nz/2017/12/2011-nissan-leaf-g-used-ev-review-daily-driver-replacement/ I'm looking to sell/exchange my '18 WagonR for a Tekna/G grade Leaf due to a change in finances and not needing more than 50km max of range per day anymore since I'm back in my hometown. I'd prefer a Tekna since it's all in English though heavier and got slightly less range, but there are apparently around 20x more G Grades in LK than UKDM cars.
  3. Hi Guys, Though this topic is not the type that can answer directly, I appreciate if anyone can add something with contacts or contents, really appreciate it. I was looking at EV Conversion kits on internet where we can buy one and install in to a car or jeep. The problem is that, I don't find anyone doing it in Sri Lanka or has done it as a project. (Couldn't find) For instance, look at this kit. Though it's expensive and has 4 motors, same will come much cheaper with 2 motors. But lack of knowledge and experience will waste money and time if one is going to do it. So, hopefully if you are a mechanical / electrical engineer or even auto electrician that has something to say about, please post a reply. This is just a start of gathering some details about it before going to a practical installation. Thanks so much.
  4. Good Day Gentlemen. I am on the verge of purchasing my maiden automobile. To summarize my requirement : I need to buy an unregistered vehicle for 3 Million. I will be doing outstation travel mostly occasional trips in Capital. . A bit of research revealed I have only a few options which i list below 1. Honda Hybrid GP1 -2013 reconditioned [ 3 Mill] 2. Suzuki Wagon R Hybrid 2015 Brand new [ 2.7 Mill] 3. Perodua Azia B/new [2.6 Mill] problem is being new to automobiles seeking opinion from friends and relatives is very frustrating some people ask me to buy a nissan leaf pointing negatives in above options. Some want me to extend budget and buy a Toyota Aqua saying all above cars are not good options. Therefore I need a neutral Point of view hence I am looking at your valuable inputs. Thank you in advance.
