  1. I own a 2007 Corolla axio and about six months ago when I stopped the car at a junction for signal lights, car stalled and when I cranked again it started without any problem but some time later I found that the check engine lamp was on. Then I took the car to the garrage where I got all the services and they scanned the system and said that the crank position sensor was faulty and replaced it. But when I got back home the same fault occured and I managed to take the car back to the garrage and they cheked again and said the faulty may be with the air/fuel sensor and they disconnected it and gave me the car and ask me to run for sometime. Thereafter I ran the car for about two weeks and I connected the A/F sensor and managed to run the car without any fault for about a month. Thereafter I went back to the mechanic and got the old crank position sensor installed replacing the new one and managed to run the car about three months without any problem. However about a month ago the same fault happed and I could not start the car even after disconnecting the A/F sensor and I had to tow the car to the garrage and they scanned again and replaced the A/F sensor. Thereafter I ran the car about a month and the same fault happed again and I managed to get the car started after few attempts. I took the car to toyota lanka and they also can't identify any problem. Can anyone help me solve this issue..
  2. like to know the Toyota corolla model differences ....xli , x, G
  3. Hi AL, Thought I'd share photos of my KE72V. Technically it's my father's but unofficially it's mine A little history on this- my father imported this KE72V DX in 1989 with 40,000kms on the ODO. It's been with us ever since! The milage now is a little over 141,000kms and it still purrs along without any issues. I'm in the process of restoring it to factory original specification but I'd love to replace the stock K40 transmission with a k50 (5speed) transmission. I would if I could find one for cheap! I've even got the original seat covers! (I'm looking for another set, let me know if any of you good KE72 owners want to sell yours!) Instrument cluster- Future plans- I've already wet-sanded the entire body with 1500grit sandpaper in anticipation of a cut/polish job. Sadly that was a few months back and I spent all the money I had on another project! I'm hoping to cut/polish the paint soon. Both rear lamp lenses are cracked and missing bits so I'm searching for new lenses. My car is missing the fan shroud (better known as the 'radiator cover') that is essential for the factory AirCon to work. I've given up looking for an original so I'm going to try and get one scratch built. That's about it, hope you enjoyed my ride as much as I do! Thanks for stopping by and regards, Jay. EDIT: I moved all my photos of the '72 to a separate album in Photobucket so had to repost the direct links. Hope they turn up!
  4. Hi, I have a 1993 Toyota Corolla CE100 diesel car. On its diesel pump there is a TPS (Throttle position sensor). Wire harness of this sensor is broken and I want to fix it. As in the images below, sensor side there are 3 wires (Yellow, Blue, Black). other side harness contains 3 wires (blue/orange, Yello, Brown). In the wire harness socket 3 terminals are labled as 1,2 and 3. If any of you having the same model car, could you please tell me the wire colors in the sensor side (yellow, blue, black) for each terminal 1, 2 and 3. Or the wire colors connected by the socket in each side. Thank you, Chamilka
  5. Update : Bought a starlet. Details see the thread. Hi fellows. My question is a big and like a question paper but hope it will help you to give me a good answer. My requirements are Manual gear car with good fuel economy. budget around 1.1-1.4 and max 1.65 A good resale value. not sure how long Im going to keep it. Maybe from 3 to 5+ years I prefer diesels because we own a townace lotto van (57-xxxx) in our family for about 10years now. Did a full engine overhaul about 8 years back@ edirisinhas and still no any problem. I don't want a fast car and ok with the town-ace like performance and feel. Don't care about boot space but leg space will be needed. Prefer hatchbacks but sedans are too ok. My monthly traveling will be bellow 500km but if its good for pocket will do more. I've read over 2,3 times the threads that talks about above models in topics. But i need more to decide.
  6. Hi Guys, Does anyone know the front speaker size of a 1997 corolla wagon (CE108 Elephant back model) ? I did quite a bit of googling on this and some specs say it's 5.25" while some say it's 4". I could not find any rear speakers in the car, so it seems that I just have to replace the stock speakers on the front doors. Thanks in advance !
  7. Dear Friends, What is the best place to do an EFI Tune up in Colombo area? What about Auto Miraj?
  8. Hi dear friends, My Car is TOYOTA Corolla AE110 XE Saloon (1998, Auto, Petrol) Recently I purchased this car from another person. Car is in mint condition. But there is a problem. The radiator fan working continuously. My knowledge about auto electrical is very poor. But I checked the problem with my knowledge. The fan is switching by an original relay. (Normally closed relay) There is no voltage at relay coil, so the relay always closed. Then the fan is working nonstop. I tried to find, the operation voltage of fan relay, but I couldn't find the it. Then I thought the problem is with "Thermostat Sensor" Then I went to an auto electrician, He said the thermostat wire has disconnected in somewhere. But he couldn't find it, My questions are, (1) what is the other end of thermostat sensor wire? (2) How can I find it? (3) How to check thermostat sensor is good or bad? Please help me. Thanks.

  10. Hi all, I am planning to buy a Toyota Corolla CE100 car and would like to know your suggestions. I know that according to the year of manufacture of this model what I would get is something done around 200,000km. What I want to know are there different types of diesel engines for this model. I have heard some term "molli engine". So is there a "NON molli engine" for the same model. I am glad if someone can post me a picture to recognize this engine. And by the way I am only interested in sedan car, not wagen. Are there 1.8 diesel engines in Sedan. And finally what will be a reasonable price for a SE Saloon with climate control AC, white light and manual gear, if I find one hopefully. Thank you in advance.
  11. Hello, First of all I need to mention that I am not knowing a lot about cars but I did a search about AE100 because on several posts it was mentioned that It is good with better fuel consumption, comfortability and kind of easy maintenance car for a range of 1.2-1.5 million rupees. However I found the below models of AE100; AE100 Sprinter Corolla Marino Ceres L Touring S Limited Corolla SE Limited L-Touring Corolla XE Limited Can someone kindly explain me a bit about what these models are and a bit information about how better each of them compared to each other. What I really need to know is, If I buy a AE100, what kind of model I need to look for if I consider Fuel consumption, Maintainability, Comfortability ...etc for a long distance travel. Also I don't know about them as if they come with 1300CC or 1500CC engine. Again, I kindly expect someone know a lot on this will post a detailed reply and really appreciate that. Thanks.
  12. Experts, I'm planning to buy corolla 110/111, Crystal light model (301,302,Gx range). What is the average price these days. What are the differences between 1300cc model and 1500 model, advantages, disadvantages? What do you think about manual and auto models? fuel figures? I went through some other threads but didn't found clear discussion about 110 and 111 models. Appreciate your feedback. Many Thanks.
  13. Hi guys, Got my JDM imported civic EG4 . Used for track days and as a grocery getter. Here are a few specs and upgrades done to the car by me: 1. HKS titanium exhaust 2. 16 inch Borbet rims 3. type r badges 4. TEIN shocks 5. upgraded brakes The car is sitting low compared to the corolla next to it and the handling for a car that weighs 980kg's is awesome (can corner a bend at 85km/h easy . will be upgrading the engine to a B16A one day hopefully. The car currently makes 125bhp, give me some your thoughts and ideas to help me make this beast into a better monster track and street car. ohh and what about the prius hating sticker? lol. Yes i do downshift whenever I see a prius, prius drivers hate me lool . The sticker would be good in sri lanka as well considering the amount of those hideous cars on the road.
  14. I'm having a Toyota Corolla NZE121 G Grade 2004 (This model has reverse lights in the dickey) and when I start the car and press the AC button on the AC starts but blows normal hot air. Then after 2-5 mins cold air starts to come out. Once the cold air starts to come out the AC continues working fine without failing again. The only issue is that there is a delay of few minutes for the cold air to blow. I've checked the fuse box and this model doesn't have a MG-CLT relay installed. And when I check the AC compressor I can't see the magnatic clutch from out side. I checked with the AC technician and he said this model doesn't have magnatic clutch and has a belt type unit. And also he said there might be issues with control valves. He said the solution is to replace the compressor with a unit with a magnatic clutch. Does anyone have an idea about this problem and how it can be fixed.

    Ee110 Burning Oil

One of my friends has recently bought a Corolla EE110 (1.3L, 1997). Till about one month from purchase, he had no issues with the vehicle. But he has now found out that the car is actually burning oil. There is no visible leak and the engine heat is at the average level too. There is a little bit of white smoke coming out when starting/racing but it does not exhaust any smoke once you get going. According to him, it has 1.70k km on it, which he now believes is doctored. He's not a very rich guy, so he must get going with this car anyway. Which options has he got? What could be done to fix the issue at a minimal cost (rather than the obvious oil top up). Would appreciate your expert advise P.S: He says that it is slow to start up if kept idle for about a day. He's not a heavy runner, probably about 100km per week.
  20. Hi Guys, I have selected a Corolla Fielder 141 (2007), DBA-NZE141G Manual Transmission, F/O Please advise regarding the second market of this car. Any discussions regarding this would be highly appropriated. Thanks
  21. Hi, I have a 96 CE110 and its time to refill the radiator coolant. Here are my problems 1. I currently use a regular green color coolant and was thinking about using toyota/caltex red coolant but read in some places that you should not use the newer organic acid coolants in iron block engines and brass radiators. What do you guys say about this ? 2. Do I need to drain the old coolant from the engine block too ? Is it not enough to drain it from the radiator only. and how hard is it to drain the coolant via the engine block drain in a 2c engine ? 3. Do I need to do a coolant flush from a place like pitstop. Is it really worth it? How many of you do it ? My current coolant has been there for almost 30k km now and it does not have the green color anymore Also as I remember it was a local brand. (Not sure though). The engine is almost on the 200,000km mark now. Thanks.
