  1. Hello guys, recently on Iam having this idea of doing a complete conversion of my LJ78 prado to a VDJ76 by swapping a 1VD-FTV engine with manual transmission. So for that looking forward for some help and advice from anyone who knows the subject. Also for the record what type of fuel consumption figures and budget will I possibly have to allocate for this conversion as iam also having second thoughts of either swapping a 1HZ instead of the 1VD (much interest is towards the V8 though). Any form of advice and thoughts would be very appreciated. Thanks
  2. Hi, there is an original 90s car which is a four door sedan. The book is original and everything is 100% legal right now. I wanted to know if it is possible to convert it to a hardtop. Is this prohibited by law? If not, does this require updating the book or relevant authorities? There is a hardtop version of this car and I love the styling of it. Any advise would be much appreciated.

  4. Hi Guys, Though this topic is not the type that can answer directly, I appreciate if anyone can add something with contacts or contents, really appreciate it. I was looking at EV Conversion kits on internet where we can buy one and install in to a car or jeep. The problem is that, I don't find anyone doing it in Sri Lanka or has done it as a project. (Couldn't find) For instance, look at this kit. Though it's expensive and has 4 motors, same will come much cheaper with 2 motors. But lack of knowledge and experience will waste money and time if one is going to do it. So, hopefully if you are a mechanical / electrical engineer or even auto electrician that has something to say about, please post a reply. This is just a start of gathering some details about it before going to a practical installation. Thanks so much.
  5. Hi Guys, I have a Honda car with Single Carb EG8 1995 model. I have few problems with the current engine and would like to enhance/upgrade the ride with conversion or new engine. Current issues - Carb is not working upto the mark as some fuel lines are not connected to carb. - Engine oil burning. This will happen only during the last 1000kms before the next service. Using Caltex SAE 40 Engine oil. Service period 5000km. Current mileage 261,550 kms - Its difficult to start if I parked the car 2-3 days without start the engine.(Battery is full charged and auto choke not working) I'm planning to use this car till 2021. So think about conversion/upgrade would be useful for me. Thinking about below options, 1. Repair the current engine and use it. 2. Remove the carb and do a EFI conversion. 3. Replace with Exi engine.(this option to avoid the hassle of EFI convertion) 4. Replace with VTec engine. Please advice me on above options with the price and the complexity of it. Also I would like to know the places/persons who are selling above mentioned type of engines with complete set. I have gone through the below threads as well.

  7. Hellow Everyone, Can somebody tell me what the procedure for changing the registration of a car after converting from petrol to diesel. and the approximate cost of doing it. I know i should go to RMV but want to get an idea from any one before going. and by the way the car YOM is 94. new engine is a "2.4 3C turbo diesel". thanks in advance.
  8. Guys, Good day ahead! I got the front wheel brakes converted from drum to disc of my jeep and the pics attached below. The known issue of 4DR5 Jeeps which is the inability to be stable by the time of applying brakes because of the fact that the shoes engage to the drum at different intervals. So the result is the vehicle to move left or right suddenly when the brake applies. When Speeding at 80Km/h or so, it gets worse because there is possibility of facing an accident. The issue was solved with the disc brake conversion and now it feels the difference while braking specially at the moments said before.
  9. Hi all, I got to know that you can convert a civic eg8 rear drum brake to a disc brake... Any experience???? Have anyone in this group have tried it??? What are the pro's and con's???
  10. Guys, I found myself an original petrol S2 Land Rover that originally came with 8 Sri plates. But the guy who owns it recently had it converted to diesel and had the number changed to 325- Is there any way to get the old number back if I convert it back to petrol? This car has had a lot of character and with this number its all gone
