  5. Is there a significant enhancement in fuel economy by replacing existing paper based air filter with Cone Air filter (Washable and reuse) in a regular car? I have seen some people using this on their cars.
  6. Hi, I owns an Axio Hybrid. In the display it show the distance that can go with the remaining amount of fuel. Is it accurate? When it becomes 0 km will the vehicle stop? or switch to the fuel reserve? How many litres of petrol in fuel reserve? Thanking you for your kind answers.
  7. Hi, I came across this gadget in the web and would like to know your experiences and ideas about it. Does it really work? as the manufacturers say this is the way it works "FUELSHARK - HOW IT WORKS JUST PLUG AND SAVE! The components in your car's electrical system are interconnected with each other. To get superior performance from your car, it must have a clean electrical circuit environment. Many cars develop electrical imbalances over time due to the power demands made by various accessories and normal wear on batteries, spark plugs and other parts. To maintain optimum electrical performance and improve MPG, your car will run better with a stable voltage environment. The Fuelshark provides just that. It is a multi-purpose Voltage Stabilizer. Fuelshark's design instantly stabilizes your car's electrical system, resulting in better fuel efficiency and overall performance. By stabilizing your car's electrical system, one big benefit is that your engine's spark plugs deliver a strong even spark, resulting in better combustion. This can increase power and MPG, in addition to having cleaner emissions. This revolutionary technology provides consumers with an inexpensive way to save money at the gas pump and help our environment at the same time. Better yet, there are no installation charges. Just plug the Fuelshark into your cars lighter adapter and the blue light will let you know that the Fuelshark is working, and reminds you that you are saving money! '
  8. Guys, Hows the fuel economy of New Toyota Passo (Hana) model? I had the Passo old model(2007) it did around 10-14 kml. I have seen the new model has "Eco" mode also. Any ideas???
  9. I have recently bought a Nissan Sunny SB 13 Diesel automatic model. In Colombo with traffic it does around 9 - 9.5 kmpl. But for long distance it does around 11 - 12 kmpl. Is this normal for NISSAN SB 13 or my car doing bad? Highly appreciate if you people can give details of a good mechanic to do some engine tune up. Thanks.
  10. Update : Bought a starlet. Details see the thread. Hi fellows. My question is a big and like a question paper but hope it will help you to give me a good answer. My requirements are Manual gear car with good fuel economy. budget around 1.1-1.4 and max 1.65 A good resale value. not sure how long Im going to keep it. Maybe from 3 to 5+ years I prefer diesels because we own a townace lotto van (57-xxxx) in our family for about 10years now. Did a full engine overhaul about 8 years back@ edirisinhas and still no any problem. I don't want a fast car and ok with the town-ace like performance and feel. Don't care about boot space but leg space will be needed. Prefer hatchbacks but sedans are too ok. My monthly traveling will be bellow 500km but if its good for pocket will do more. I've read over 2,3 times the threads that talks about above models in topics. But i need more to decide.
  11. I have sold my lancer & bought a Prius 3rd Gen (UK imported version) recently. What should be the correct engine oil viscosity for my car? Mfd. Year: 2010 Mileage: 35300 miles (approx. 56800 km) Driving conditions: weekdays very low traffic around 30 km per day / weekends long distance around 200km every weekend Yesterday the full service was done from Cl**n Pa*k and after that fuel economy reduced to 35 mpg on average. Usually it is between 50 - 55 MPG. Oil type used: Toyota 0W-20 SN Air filter replaced Oil filter replaced What could be the issue?
  12. hi guys today i pumped Rs.4000 worth petrol to my new prius gen3 and drove from nuggegoda to navinna. i checked my fuel meter just after pumping petrol, it indicates 4 gauges. but on my way to Navinna i noticed a drop of one gauge which is impossible for a prius. then again on my way back to Nugegoda it gained that lost gauge and i was surprised....hehe this is not the first time and few days back same thing happened when i was travelling to dabulla. that day i pumped rs 2000 worth petrol on top of the petrol which was there already and statrted heading towards Dabulla and as i reached Kurunagala i suddenlly notice that iam out of petrol, the last gauge was blinking so i pumped another Rs 4000 worth petrol. then i saw 7 gauges in fuel indicator, i was happy and start driving again. after driving for 6 km again it drop down to 6 gauges. after another 12km it drop down to 5 gauges then to 5 gauges in another 23km. I was shocked. At the end, there was only 3 gauges on the indicator when i reached Dabulla. on the next day when i start the car the indicator showed 5 gauges again and i was more shocked....hehe. so i took the car to few garages near by dabulla but they didnt know much abt the matter. at the end of the day i managed to get the indicator back upto 6 gauges after driving around Dabulla city and belive me when i say this, on the second day i head back to colombo without pumping any more petrol and i lost only 2 gauges from the 6 gauges i had. still i cant figure it out what cause the issue. so i googled it and found this http://priuschat.com/threads/reset-2009-gas-gauge.130111/ Reset 2009 Gas Gauge1. 14. Note by the moderator : This post contains information neither endorsed nor supported by the Autolanka community. Readers are advised to read the entire thread and form their own conclusions. Hi everyone This is my second post on the forum. I think this post will help a lot of people to reduce their fuel bill on petrol and diesel vehicles. Going forward we will have lot of vehicles but empty tanks. I have been doing some R&D on engine efficiency and cleaner exhaust gazes for some years and decided to do an engine modification on my Prado to get some extra power and a full burn. For non-technical members it is simply modifying the air intake of the engine at a safer place to feed in HHO as a gas instead of normal air we breathe which is not 100% accounting to a full burn inside the combustion chamber. HHO is a combustion rich gas but the generation mechanism should be done with absolute safety precautions out of water. Luckily I have a friend of mine who has a Garage (Unfortunately in Gampaha, which is a bit far away) and he was nice enough to listen to me (instead of ignoring me as if I have gone crazy) and comply with all the safety precautions and install the unit. Some pictures are attached for enthusiasts. Results: Increased fuel consumption by 20-25% (Mix of city and long distance). I refill a full tank earlier around 360KM range. Now it is 440-450KM range. Increase of power. I can feel it in the depth of low end torch in the Engine which keeps going. Reduced carbon emissions to a good as new engine. This is a 1999 Prado. Less vibration on engine Quick start when you crank the engine Everyone should not jump into this modification. It is a NO for vehicles with warranty by agents (Those brand new shiny vehicles are not lucky enough to have this because they will say “You have modified the engine and now we are not responsible!!!”) So save it for a later date. This is good for engines about 5-7 years and beyond. Vehicles of this age are having different relationships between the owners and the vehicle as such a bit of tweaking will not hurt any feelings J. There is absolutely no harm in doing this modification because it is done outside the whole system. Safety is first in this installation. Is this a real innovation which I should patent? Well absolutely no, because lot of people know about this but no one cares about the safety. Instead I though everyone interested should benefit from this because it helps going green and hugging trees a little. Regards Nana
  15. Hi guys, I'm planning to buy Viva Elite manual transmission car and I need to know your opinions about its fuel consumption. Thanks in advance..
  16. hi guys, * First of all, this is just for information requisition only * Im looking to change my Cefiro and go for a Impreza (2000) model. Need to know what a reasonable price is for this car, the fuel consumption etc. Thanks a loads
  17. Hi guys I got a 2007 L200 warrior. The fuel consumption on city is about 8 km/l and out side city its about 9 - 9.5 km/L. I am using IOC extramile. Every one i ask who has a 4 x 4 say that they do about 9- 10 km/l on city. Is the high fuel consumption purely because of the type of fuel i use? or because of another menchical problem?. If it is a mechanical problem where can i get it checked? sam
