  1. I have a Honda Civic FD4 - 2008 with mileage 150,000km Stafford maintained. There is a jerk in the gearbox when I put onto the reverse every morning. Once it happens, it is there when I put to D also. If I switch off the car and on again, problem disappeared. It happens only when the car is started after long rest. ATF also changed very recently. Any one came across with the same problem and know a solution? Thank you.
  2. Hello there good people at AL, I'm a random 18 year old looking to buy my first car (this will the first car of our family also, we have never had cars xd) Talking about the purpose mostly this will be my weekly driver to the Capital and Galle and also the daily driver in the busiest roads in Colombo. I prefer the look over fuel economy haha (mostly what teenagers r looking here) So I got few options that all of them I really like any suggestions from you geeks? 1. Aqua 2013 2. Axio 2008 3. Civic FD4 4. Corolla 141 5. Accord 2008 6. Yaris 2008 7. Swift 2008 What you people think and another thing I really wanna consider is less hassel in the garages, just coz I will be extremely busy with studys and job and all. I saw an old Mini Cooper (2002) must be one of earliest BMW ones in this range. I really like that look, as I heard from the internet the new BMW generations of mini are not the very best built. Before this price bubble I was looking for an Audi A1 but they all are now priced in 9mil range
  3. Between similar speced and aged Honda Civic FD1(1.8) and FD4(1.6), which car fetches a better market price in Sri Lanka? Furthermore which car returns better fuel consumption (not that I care but I think this will have an impact on eventual market price).
  4. Car: Honda Civic FD4 Problem: Engine overheating at long distance journeys and loss of coolant (about 500ml per 30 minutes drive). Observations: Foam creating in the radiator cap (currently running with only water due to coolant loss). Overflow tank getting full all the time after a drive. There are some foam in the overflow tank too. Occasional white smoke during the morning, cold starts. A leak in the radiator core. The mechanic said it takes a longer than usual time for the thermostat valve to be opened. Both fans work without A/C but takes time to turn on. No other visible external locations for coolant leakage. Things Done: Replaced the radiator. Question: What could be the reason? If it's a blown head gasket (or something else), what is the correct procedure to diagnose/fix it?
  5. Hello guys, Yeah I have been planning to buy a car for about 3 years, but gave first place to family expenses and higher education. Finally I decided to move on during the next few months to a new ride.My good old 121 is still serving me without letting me down but I think I had her enough(5+ yrs). Finally I narrowed down my search list to these two babes, the Ex and Fd4 as both of them are in the reachable price bracket.Previously had the idea for a 3rd gen prius but it is useless as I only do less than 1000kms per month. So my requirements are these. 1.Should be comfortable on long journeys.I might have to travel to places like Jaffna and Matara once or twice in a month. 2.Stability in speeds over 100 as I had to maintain such a speed speacially when travelling to jaffna. 3.Interior space both front and rear. 4.Fuel economy is not a main priority.I have an extreme light foot most of the times??.But if someone can give exact fuel figures I would be glad. 5.Should have a bit of soul in it???.A bit of handling and oomph Yet to drive both of them as they are very rare in our area. The problems that I have are 1.Does the Ex feels underpowered due to its 1500cc engine and 1200+kg weight? Also the 1600cc variant is rare and exceeds my budget. 2.I've heard the Fd series is not comfortable on long journeys and has stiffer suspension. Is it true?If someone who had driven both the fd4 and 121 can give me an advice that would be much valuable. I dumped the Axio because everyone has it and handles worse than the 121.Allion and Premio, again overpriced and common. But I would love to own a 240 series Allion on a Premio with 1800cc,but rarity and 100k+ kms milege keeps myself away. So i hope you guys will help me to make a good decision. Also any other choices are welcome. Thanks
