Sorry for bumping up an old thread.

I absolutely love the looks of this car, and dreaming about owning one since long long time and seriously considering buying one.

Know these machines are now 13-14 years old. I currently own a Honda Fit GP1, it has the tech gimmicks and the efficiency but still feel something is missing. :|

I need some advice on what it is like to buy and maintain a Nissan Skyline V35 today. The car in question, YOM 2003 , registered in 2006.

Went to have a look at this car and the body and interior condition looks good. But when I drove it, felt the steering is comparatively tight and had to put effort like the power steering is not there. Another thing I noted was that gear change was not smooth. (Had to accelerate more than usual to change gears) Due to those two reasons, I am in doubt if they are costly repairs and if more similar issues will arise :(

No service history was available, and the mileage was 80K (which is unlikely IMO) And feel the quoting price is also too high for a 14 year old car. 35lks.

Can you guys please advice me what should I do. Any owners of this model in AL ?

btw is this the KD rego Skyline?

read about the V35 model online first.then take the car to CarChecks to get a proper idea about the state of the car and then to Nissan to diagnose any issues and related costs to replace/repair. then you can decide whether to make the decision or not.

Thanks. Any idea about selling places?

check that quick site and also check at Gekko Trekko at Cotta Road, they have Saris brand carriers.

  4. Yes the plastic box may be too small. Search eBay or Amazon for "soft top roof bags". You will get a few options. Not seen any in Colombo yet.

Been looking for a roof box / soft top roof bag but none came across, recently there was a company who started bringing down Thule products but they quickly gave up that idea.

What about using an old 3-wheeler frame ? I think the Y-shape suits trailers on market.

Today I saw some ad on a paper about a company(subsidiary of Dbug) selling accessories for jet skis,a trailer was also pictured. But it should be quite expensive.

    is it seadoo?

  5. Talking about Tesla, I saw the white one two days ago near Durdans Hospital. There was a Black oval shaped sticker pasted on its rear bumper. It had two capital "C"s and wordings similar to "Corporate C-----". Do you guys know anything about it. I've seen lot of high valued cars like Porche,BMW & Benz with that sticker on.

    Consular Corps,I guess?

  6. sorry for hijacking the thread,

what you call those red and blue stuff connected to brake line? from where you can get them?

    CS_GARAGE_S14_3632_800.jpg

afaik those are called AN fittings,do correct me if I'm wrong. colors are just vary from the vendor/usage.

  7. What would be the normal idle rpm for a used starlet which clocks 100000km.Please someone with first hand experience help.

    Default is 700.

    correct me if I'm wrong.

usually it's around 750 without aircon running.btw I need to know some answers regarding your vehicle

1.isn't your car came with an OBD I port?

2.when was the last time the engine went through an overhaul or a compression check?

Since you live in Nugegoda,I suggest you to take the car to Udara Motors at Ethul Kotte.PM me for the contact details.

  8. Yes 15k produced. Can't find how many survive. Wiki even mentions Sri Lanka as a market where they were exported to. http://en.wikipedia....iki/Toyota_Sera

Also noticed that the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 was the first with car with dihedral doors. Hmm you learn something new everyday.

There is a UK forum but I can't find the number of survivors on "How many Left"

    http://www.omicron.u...dex.php?act=idx

Sera was made as a JDM/domestic market vehicle, but it came to few countries like you mentioned.

  9. Highly unlikely...There were more noteworthy cars that came way before that sported gullwings..Merc 300SL and the DeLorean DMC12 come to mind. Its more likely that Murray copied some minor technical aspect of it and the Sera fanboys exaggerated the rest.

obviously there were noteworthy cars that came with gullwing doors.

    http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Community/Car-Magazines-Blogs/Tim-Pollard-Blog2/Twelve-things-you-may-not-know-about-the-McLaren-F1/

according to that Murray have seen a sera & he got the idea about the doors,

however my original post was about the sera being a future classic, with limited number of production & pretty much half of that survives now. that is why I thought it should be a classic.

  10. Guys...

On this topic does anyone know a place in SL where they sell genuine sport seats ? Most sites I found on the net sell the fake stuff, but the genuine stuff cost a fortune, so trying to see if there is anyone who is getting them down in bulk here ?

I don't think that there will be anyone who gets sports/bucket seats in bulk.because the demand is very low + the price factor. best method is get in contact with someone in motor racing & ask them, most of the guys import seats personally.

  11. They tried to sell me this as well. But then I called Benedictsons and they told me they could issue MA-Z1s. I just had a look at reviews, they are not as popular as MA-Z1s. But the review seems to be good though not as enthusiastic as the MA-Z1 reviews.

    vs

    http://www.tyrerevie...A-Z1-Victra.htm

    I got my MA-Z1s for 12 400 a piece.

They also wanted more money for that tyre (the original price is 2K+ more than the MA-Z1). Personally I'd go for the Dunlops at 13 900 cash from SK Munasinghe or Falken ZE 912 as I mentioned before.

Did you speak to Mr ######## at Samarasinghe? Also the chap I spoke to at Benedictsons was called Asela.

the more grip the better handling I can get, ride comfort & noise wouldn't be a problem as I already run D2 suspension & it gives enough ride comfort :D I spoke to samarasinghe's & he wanted 14,000 for a i pro tyre,is that a good price?

  12. They were available last Thursday when I checked (in fact I bought 4 tyres). The size I bought were 195/55 R15 as well. Call Benedictsons and check with them. None of the dealers have them because it is not something which sells regularly. But Benedictsons will insist you buy through a dealer. I bought mine from Samarasinghe Wheel Alignment Gansaba Junction Nugegoda (the tyre shop we've always gone to). My two other fallback options were Dunlop Le Mans/SP LM703 or Falken ZE912 both made in Thailand. The price was around 14K per tyre. Failing which I did see some good looking V groove Hancooks in Amila Tyre house Dehiwala and apparently they had stock. worth a look. I did not ask for the price.

Ya I even checked with Samarasinghes' but they don't have the specific tyre, but they recommended Maxxis MA i-pro Victra i-pro,anyone has any idea with the usage of the specific tyre?
