  1. Hi All, Wanted to know if it is possible in SL to change the vehicle (sell) but retain the number plate to be used on a new vehicle of the same type ( ex. from old car to New car). I know this is possible in other countries which is swapping plates between old and new vehicles as the plate is registered to the owner and not the car. my number plate is nothing special, but just nostalgic and I would like to retain it if and when I change the vehicle, if its possible to keep. Thanking eveyone for your comments.
  2. Thank you, will check it out.
  3. Thanks for your reply. The route you suggest is wonderful but a bit too long for my friends to do. We hope to do one trip Colombo-Dambulla/Sigiriya (may be stay a night around there) - and return to Colombo. We hope to travel via the Colombo /Kandy road (A1) and then Kurunegala to Dambulla. Another day trip to Pinnawala-Ambakke Devalaya and the temples close by-Peradeniya Gardens -Kandy and back. We have still not decided where would be best to go to in the South, so all options are open for discussion . Galle is good for the history and a walk about, but would like to go to a place where there is a good beach to relax and a safe sea like Unawatuna, any other suggestions ?
  4. Hi freinds, This question is not about automotives, but since it relates to travelling and getting about using transport I hope it's ok to ask. I am in the process of planning a travel itinary for a few friends of the family who would be visiting Sri Lanka in April 2014. We are planning on doing a bit of travelling around to show them our beautiful isalnd, and planning to visit Pinnawala, Kandy, Dambulla/Sigiriya and a trip down South which seems like Galle, Benthotha or some place nice with a beach. We would like to stop for meals and a bit of rest while on the road and would love to know best places to stop for breakest, lunch or dinner which are clean, good service, respectable and not too expensive, which also have clean washroom/toilet facilities specially for the ladies. Any suggestions on other locations that would be of interest to visit inbetween the places above will be very helpful. All suggestions and advise is welcome. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Would appreciate if some advice could be provided by the AL memebrs on what should be done to keep the vehicle in good order while its parked. Also would like to know from where I could purchase a Steering Lock (the one that fits on the Steerng wheel) for the car. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looking For A Car For Around 3M

Thanks everybody for all the suggestions. My thoughts were for a Toyota 121, Yaris, Belta or the SX4 (heard that its not too economic on fuel). would have loved to get a Pajero but that seems not to be that economic, I may be wrong? But since the suggestions have so many models will take a closer look at all before I finally decide. Thanks again, you guys at Autolanka are a real help.
  8. I am looking to purchase a car with a budget around 3 Million. The car will mostly be used for running around Colombo and the occasional out of Colombo /outstation family trips. I am looking for a economical / easy to maintain and durable car for home use, not a sports or fast car (yes, I realise with this budget they would be out of my range ). I am new to the local market and not familier with the current prices, Would appreciate all comments and suggestions from my respected friends of Autolanka. Warm regards to all.

    Dialog Tv Or Peo Tv

Yes, it is a vey interesting subjact and it give you a better picture of what's happening in the world around us than what shown on our local channels. Sorry, to say but the local channels don't cover any international news, they run thought the int'l. news in 60 sec's like the larger world does not matter to us in Sri Lanka. I think we should be more knowledgeable about whats going on, and I just cannot understand why we still are 20-30 yrs backwards when it comes to integreting with the rest of the world on the technological front.

Just want to know, has anyone being able to put up a SAT Dish with a decorder and catch any of the free international channels that are being transmitted via the satellite? Surely SL must be in the range of a foot print from many satellites. Would love to know.
