  1. What are we looking at here? Flat spots/rotten tyres, dead battery, bad/expired oil & other fluids, lots of dust, some rust, bad fuel rails, salty smell on the car? Also, imagine the scenario will you. You import the car, knowing it's gonna get seized, you just walk into the office with a smile, the officers there expecting some sort of a quarrel only to see that you are there, all jolly and grinning despite hearing the fact your car has been seized. You go "that's okay sir/madam, have a good day" smile and just leave. ?
  2. ?? All them Bajaj, TVS & Piaggio peeps be jealous. Imagine the conversations about Thel weda, pickup and 2nd market. So much fun.
  3. Is it still legal to drive a LHD car in srilanka? Even if it's already registered?

  4. I like your rank title. A play on the lyrics of the only rap song I like listening to anymore!?

  5. Nah bro, just turbocharge the 1.5 or just swap in a nice SR16 (if those are even around anymore). ?
  6. In a time of strict emissions regulations, decline in enthusiasm, autonomous & EV startups, and boring toys, guess who's back?

Yes I read about the 6 too. Mazda isn't giving up anytime soon no matter what's going on.

Well...Toyota is working iwth Mazda on a RWD sedan. Yes...the rumor is that it is going to be the basis for a Mark X replacement and an equivalent Mazda marquee. Current size wise one can think it is the 6..but then considering the investment made in the 6's skyactiv platform...will they ditch all that and go with a RWD for the 6 now ? If they don't ditch it they might go with a badge like  Sentia (which was RWD) or Millenia (replacement for the Sentia but FWD) whic sort of have a sporty outlook. Originally the Capella/Atenza/626/6 was positioned to compete with the likes of the Corona/Carina and the Sentia/Millenia, Persona etc...with the likes of the Mark II/Cressida and the Luce/929 with the Crown.

Would love to see something like the underrated Eunos Cosmo come back. Nostalgia is good for business, this is especially true in the car market.

Not like our bayyas care though.

  7. Uhhhh... Why is your comment written the other way? ?
  8. If this is true then... Basically, no more Evos or wrxs. But of course, it's not stopping the JZX Tourer V conversions happening around (upping from 1800/2000cc to 2500cc). Or Maybe it's because those people are retreating to some "effective" methods.
  9. That forum truly is some place eh? Shish Also I think you basically summed it up, along with @peugeot407's example. While one or two of us would love to own a mini or a KE20, there are hundreds of average non-enthusiast people who would say Hell No! to those cars. Also, compared to modern computer boxes old cars aren't that much fuel efficient or safe either. And not everyone is a Petrolhead who is willing to spend time in a garage to keep his car running. People with busy schedules and important professions need modern and reliable cars. In my OL days, our science sir would fail to make it to our class once in a while because his FB13 would die somewhere randomly no matter how much he maintained it using his limited time and salary. Old enthusiast cars like the Lancer Box, KE20, B310, E30, W124 and some rare classics have their own strong market and the owners live in that safe bubble where their investments are safe on those cars as their market is a niche one. No hope for any other average car or rust bucket. Your intentions are good but sadly the srilankan car market is beyond saving due to the fact that the governing bodies don't care. Not only is the public transportation system unsatisfactory, but the private transportation system is very expensive and improper too. It should be any one of those, not both.
  10. සිංහල? That didn't take an engineering degree to figure out?
  11. Just saw this. Lucky guy, Truly a sweet car, that interior reminds me of the early 90s sports car like the RX7? hope you are smiling everyday when driving it. BTW those junkyards make me envious? Could bring down some Swift Sport parts for cheap chips and just convert a standard swift here?
  12. Just an opinion. The D15B is a lighter engine so you might see some of the original handling being retained. A quick Google check says about 40-45kg difference between the D15B and K20A (without fluids) which is the same as a young teenager being tucked away under the hood. Also wouldn't you need to mess around with the mounting points if you want to put a K20A in there? I think the D15B build will be easier to live with maintenance wise and I think by chucking the K20 in there, you will have to deal with the RMV and the weighing process and other boring stuff (someone correct me on this, will the d15b swap have to go through the exact same too? Or is just a receipt from the shop where the engine was purchase is enough?) But the K20 will make your car more powerful and it will be unique too. It's all a matter of personal preference. But anyway you do it, it will be awesome!
  13. He's done with it. No one is an officially certified expert here, just members with a better than average knowledge set. You got the answer to your problem. Be respectful and grateful for that atleast. Let's just stop. No need to send death threats and try to make anyone's wife a widow here.
  14. I believe @The Don & @tiv have given you very good answers. If you want more than this, you would have to take it to a professional mechanic, remove the head/oil pan and check yourself or search around Facebook, quora, reddit, international car forums, toyota forums, engine forums, etc.. In hopes of finding that one person who has the same exact problem and engine sound as yours. Like mentioned earlier, we can't give you percentages or anything like that by sitting behind a computer screen. The least you could do is post a video of the sound which you didn't do yet.
  15. Drove one, really liked the launching power and silence. That's why I have seen alot of Nissan leafs with broken bumpers.l due to the silence and braking power. Even the car I drove had a cracked bumper. Like 1 in every 5 leaf has accident damage. Or is it just me??
  16. Yours was a red leaf? Talk about Cherry bomb. The leaf owners club truly is a sad sight. Until the relevant battery technology comes around, this would be situation.
  17. Apologies for the late reply. Just saw this. Back seat space is fine, way better than the starlet but similar to the March K12. I have never driven the K12 equipped swift. But I heard it's a Rev happy engine. A review by Evo India said that the 2nd Gen Swift (K12) is fun to drive and nice but is not as raw as the 1st Gen swift. It depends on the person driving I guess.
  18. By the way, late but wish you and everyone else a happy & prosperous new year!
  19. There are, they are called mechanics. Each member here has a specific set of knowledge/talent, some have are more knowledgeable than the other but we are all here to help/learn from one another. So please don't treat this as some sort of magical one stop shop for all your automotive needs. This is a discussion forum after all, not a panel of judges and experts. As this is a unique type of problem pertaining to the internals of the engine, no one can say for sure without seeing it or having experience this same exact problem before. I'm Truly sorry to hear about your problems as you are in your 3rd engine now but some people would rather stay silent rather than speculate or give false knowledge/false hope. Let's see if there is someone here who has an idea of what could be wrong. Also, do describe the noise. When does it occur, at what point, how loud, or if possible post a quick video.
  20. Hope he didn't pump petrol into his diesel engine.

  23. Did you notice any leaks at home/on your driveway? Try checking on the oil pressure switch (at the bottom of the engine block, behind the engine usually) and see if it's lose or has any leaks. I hope you didn't experience any loss in power and didn't drive too far? Also did you note the color of the exhaust smoke and if it was excessive? I wonder if it's a deteriorated oil pump.
