  1. Thanks for the quick response! Yes, it is the unit behind the dash. "Cooler" is the term the mechanic said. I too am holding off the repair for the time being, but my issue is what happens to the interior, which btw is in very good condition, when driving without the A/C in Colombo. And the gas leak is significant because when checked with N2, the pressure drops by about 50% within 15-30 mins. So no A/C whatsoever, and I'll have to do this soon. The labour charges they said is around 15k, but they also said something about compressor fluids (not sure what this is), and gas, and a full cleaning and servicing of the system would account for the rest. But if I get a genuine evaporator unit for 25k, + 15k for labour will be around 45k noh? So given Mazna's expertise do you think this extra is reasonable? The car is in good condition but isn't new. Sorry I forgot to mention this earlier, it's a 2008 and done 137k km. I'm the 3rd owner, but apparently the evaporator is still the factory fitted one according to the other A/C guy. And yes, for all my previous repairs I have been there in person, so I'll be there when the reassembly is done. The main concerns I had was the dash removal and reassembling process and of course the price, so thanks for the input on that! and of course the concern if some other part failing or something else going wrong after the repair because all the stories people say about A/C problems. I'll post any updates on the matter when I do this.
  2. Hi, I know this is a really old thread but I need some help from you guys. I searched through autolanka Mazda threads but could not find an answer. I have a 2008 Axela and there's a problem with my AC. It suddenly stopped cooling, now only the blower works. I went to Mazna as I usually do (for service and maintainance, and they're quite expensive on labour charges), but they don't do AC, so they referred me this other guy who as a shop in Divlapitiya area who does AC work for Mazna. After inspecting, they said there's a gas leak in my AC cooler and M**na quoted 55k and 2-3 days for the job. 25k for the cooler and the rest for labour and other stuff. I checked with another place and they gave the same diagnosis, but quoted 30k, although these guys do not seem to be experts in Mazda (there weren't any Mazdas around) so I'm a bit worried about the quality of the work. Apparently this repair needs to be done by removing the whole dashboard to get access to the cooler, so, in my opinion, someone who knows what they're doing should do this, right? So my question is, is this a reasonable price from Mazna? and if not, is there anyone here who has done this from anywhere else for a better price? Colonial Mortors or Carmart or any other place? Thanks in advance!
