  1. Nevermind, I just realized I'd have to toss my 205/60R16 spare if I go with 215s this time. No way Imma get rid of a practically new tire so back to hunting 205s. Anyone have any experience with Nexen Blue HDs?
  2. BTW guys I just had this crazy idea, could I replace my 205/60R16 tyres with 215/60R16 tyres? Yay or nay? Could it make any components of the car (steering etc) wear faster? I guess petrol consumption would obviously be a little higher but I'm ok with it
  3. Thanks for the recommendation @K.o.N.o.S! any idea how much one would cost?
  4. Guys, I'm in the market for tyres. My Toyota 141 takes 205/60R16 tyres, it's being run on somewhat rough roads so a strong sidewall is a must. Durability (thread wear) should be reasonably good too. The car rarely exceeds 70kmph. My budget is 20k-25k per tyre. Do you guys have any recommendations?
  5. AutoLankans, is there a workshop around Kandy you could recommend for a suspension repair/replacement of a corolla 141? Is this "Willies Automobiles" any good? Or are there better places? Don't want to go to the agent and get myself fleeced. Thank you in advance!
  6. Gents, I'm planning to buy a car for personal use... So the requirements (in order of importance) would be - Budget : 4.0 - 4.5 million Year : 2012-2013 or newer Engine capacity should exceed 1450CC Should be a Sedan / Crossover Ease of maintenance. Procuring spare parts and competent workshops should be rather easy Fuel economy Resale value Going by these requirements I'm guessing my best option would be a Toyota. I won't be able to visit Colombo every time I'll be needing spare parts... I have shortlisted Allion 260 (2011-2012) and Axio 161 (Non-hybrid) 2013-2014. Please mention if there are any other brands and models you know that would suit my requirements... Your recommendations, suggestions, opinions, any kind of insight is deeply appreciated.
  7. So, update: Battery warning light came on and stays so the alternator seems to be defective, could this be the reason for the hose blowing off (due to radiator fan not working properly?)
  8. So during a journey a coolant hose blew out - fixed it again with a new hose clamp, same thing happened again. Fixed it again and while filling up the system again with water noticed that the lights are dim. Called a garage. Mechanic advised to fill the radiator and keep the engine raced for a while for the batteries to charge. While racing the engine hose blew out again, strangely, as soon as the hose blew all the lights started working properly again. Managed to reach home with the radiator cap opened. What could be the issue? Head gasket? Alternator? Blocked radiator?
  9. WTH is this guy on about if he hasnt even bought the car yet? If he's convinced this is such a great car so far as to call everyone else who have doubts about it "idiots" why wouldn't he go ahead and buy it instead of trying to convince the doubters of the forum how great a car this is?
  10. They have introduced the Z100 as an entry level hatchback, don't know the price though
  11. I'd choose the Lancer among these three, considering: - Lancers are well-known for their durability and reliability - Japanese. You can't beat Japanese when it comes to troublefree motoring - Agents carry all necessary spare parts for this model and they have a good service network around the island, plus their charges are lower than most agents, so relatively cheap maintenance - Reconditioned spare parts are available If you're patient, you'll be able find a brand new import maintained by the agent for your budget.
  12. Well OP didn't specifically ask for a Toyota or a common model so...
  13. Comments made during the honeymoon period tend to change after 2-3 years of marriage with a Chinese.
