  1. My personal preference is for a branded used head unit (not Japanese ones since they don't have full-band radio). This comparison is between a 25k Chinese head unit and a 25-30k branded used head unit. Typically, I require good sound quality (with stock speakers), reliable radio reception, a reverse camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and an option to play videos to keep my kids entertained while parked (though they now prefer using their phones). Other options are also newer used on my head units. Chinese head units come with more bells and whistles, but most of the time, they malfunction after 1-2 years. I dislike the radio tuner because it can't hold the radio channel after driving a little outside Colombo, and the touchscreen also goes out of sync after 1-2 years. I've heard that new Lenovo and expensive Chinese head units are performing better, but I don't have any experience to comment on those.
  2. I am using a Picanto for the same purpose and am happy with the ride. The 1000cc engine is very responsive and easy to handle. It might be less fuel-efficient, but it's okay for me since it's a secondary ride. The 2011-12 version might fit into your budget.
  3. Twelve years ago, I owned a Beetle model Swift at the same time the market was flooded with 1000CC Vitz. Everyone compared fuel economy and reliability of the Vitz, but nobody talked about the driving pleasure. Personally, I enjoyed that ride and am so happy about my decision. From my perspective, if you buy a car to impress neighbors, office colleagues, or in-laws, then go for a Vitz. But if you want to spend your money for your own satisfaction, then go for a Swift. P.S. Currently, I'm looking to buy a Swift RS for my wife because I love that vehicle more than toyota eco-box.
  4. No idea about the Dehiwala shop but can recommend the Boralesgamuwa joint. They corrected my 3 alloy wheels and I am totally satisfied. Mine also European car.
  5. option 1 - Slightly bigger tyre might be help on ur issue but have to reconfigure speedometer. Option 2 - I think Townace flatbed model has different kind of differential ratio (Since rear tire smaller than regular model) and swaping differentail might help you to drive faster with regular tire. But again speedometer might not accure with that modification. Above are my thoughts and not a professional openion.
  6. 70mai (front + rear + GPS model) doesn’t have an inbuilt park monitoring system. Have to purchase an external wiring kit for that facility but that kit also not sensitive enough to identify regular vibrations. And other issue is that system get activate after 5mins. So you don’t get any recording for the first 5 mins after parking.
  7. Any specific part? Most of mechanical parts are available Panchikawaththa since it share with Toyota s.
  8. I don't think they'll remove the bumper for small paint job. Normally they cover the other area and will do the job. Secondly, this is not worth to do at all. Cloudy paint patches, color miss matching, time hassle and financial lost is high on this kind of repairs.
  9. I was owned Altima with same motor and still dreaming on that acceleration. I put 120k miles and only complain is braking power is not enough on Altima with 3.5. But I believe Maxima will handle that part and It's again 10 years old story. Nice ride buddy..
  10. Auto also 8-9 range on light traffic.
  11. I don't think this is good move since those engines and all components are 15-20 years old now. This conversion is very popular on 2006-2010 due to fuel price and Tax variation but no longer its profitable. ( Just my thought). Better to sell your current Van and buy a original diesel one or properly converted one. (Proper conversion include Rear diff, front suspension and lot of etc.. just engine and wire harness conversion is not recommended ).
  12. We do own 2017 Picanto I will list down Pros and Cons according to my knowledge and personal experience. We used this as a secondary vehicle and some statements may not fit to your requirement. Pros Body style. Preferred body style for small hatch Very easy to drive in traffic. Non-hybrid basic car. Handling also not bad. Very good acceleration. 1000CC engine is preferred than 660CC. Basic oil and maintenance is good enough. Alloy wheel is standard for most of the version. I don’t like steel wheels with cover. Do have doughnut spare wheel. Never use that but still prefer then repair kit. Cabin space is ok size. Good driving position. I am 5 10 and wife is 5 2. We both can drive comfortably and good visibility around the car. Verified and trustworthy mileage on ODO. Conventional auto gear box. No need to worry about CVT belt , oil and expensive maintenance. day to day repair parts like bulb, wiper blades, tires, filters and etc are cheap. No need high tech items. Mine is around 50K KM and no repairs except brake pad change I don’t think you face any issue on spare parts since it’s dealer imported car and they have responsibility to supply your needs. Ride comfort is not bad. Ideal max speed is 100km/h. 80-85 is most comfortable speed. I drove around 120km/h and feel it’s not safe for that tiny car. Finally most important thing is, Can buy newer car for very reasonable price. Cons Basic climate controllers. Minimum safety features. Only ABS and airbag (Even lower grade doesn’t have both) Second hand market is low. (I got a secondhand car and financial lost is very minimum. But it’s totally different story for who brought it as a brand new car) Fuel consumption. Max 9.5 to 10 on light city traffic. I am always heavily foot on gas paddle to match my primary drives acceleration. J but again highway its around 16-18 km/l Not a WOW factor car. Even Vitz and WagonR also not in that category. Swift is bit closer to that. Finally, Why Picanto: We had requirement to buy small hatch car for my wife to do school trip and short distance trips for daily needs. Our main goal is buy newer car with good pulling power for quick traffic jump. We don’t worry about fuel consumption since it’s use only for short distances and total 500-600 km per month. Picanto fulfill all above with less price tag. So, why not?
  13. If he returning after 1 year, then no taxes for that. Normally he can carry that as his check-in language but most of airline charges oversize fees for that since total dimensions greater than 60 inch. (length + height + width ) not TV size.
