  1. So I got a courtesy call from the agent’s customer relations manager today after my online feedback to their survey from the last job. She was all “oh sir I hope your car is working well now after the job”. I mean if there’s a way to make a situ worse, she checked the boxes. So I had to politely say no after which she gaslit me by asking why I didn’t bring the vehicle back to them immediately. Yup, told her I didn’t want to hear more of the, “it’s normal with these new cars. Long live the old!” that I experienced even after taking it on a test ride. She was like, “oh ok sir we look forward to welcoming you again for your next service!”. I’m lost for words.
  2. Using the 3M fiber mats however the darned thing keeps slipping under the pedals now that the grips have broken off. It’s a bit of a pain to clean off too. Need to also get a steering wheel cover knitted on thanks to a part of it wearing off due to the 2020-2021 hand sanitizer use. Agreed. I think the hook was tugged a little too much. Unfortunate situ. Btw, on cabin filters, is yours a pure white paper one or is it one of those charcoal coated filters? The original one with the car was the latter, but the agent replaced it (thanks to rodents taking a leak on it!) with this white paper one that doesn’t really filter out smoke smells as effectively.
  3. Forgot to tell you the story of the glovebox damper that I asked the agent to check too. I think the Hub had broken it during their service as the damper was super loose and rattling around. But can’t really pin it on them cos I can’t really be sure as to whether I mucked something up before that. The agent said they’ll check and fix. I got another service advisor to check since the issue persisted upon collecting the car and he quickly removed the hook to find it dislodged from the bracket. When checking again with the fellow who took up my vehicle, he lied saying that they had checked and the damper wasn’t loose nor was there any rattling. Asked him twice, but he swore that it was all perfectly normal when I handed it in. He then found the hook removed so he was like “oh but we fixed it”. He went in and checked with a mechanic who removed the whole damper only to find out the damn thing had snapped from the bracket (thankfully the bracket is a small replaceable part). As usual, this guy told me this damper is a useless contraption and to drive without it since it’ll keep failing. Went on to complain that the damper is mounted with a tiny joint and tried showing that it was completely messed up. Can’t believe he even decided to teach me how to open the glove box carefully without the damper. So, damper in hand I now have to get the thing fixed elsewhere cos these agents really ought to be servicing tractors, not modern cars (if a 6yr old car can be called modern, that is). By the way, anyone know a place to buy the genuine velvet carpets that are for some reason optional with the civic? The agent doesn’t stock accessories.
  4. Got the rotors resurfaced at St**ford. Somewhat decent improvement, however they didn't bother to check about the main complaint, which was spongy brakes. They gave me some nonsensical lecture about how older cars are better than the new Civics and they don't like the new Civic at all since it has way too many gadgets and people who spend a lot of money on things like this, Benzes, BMW's, etc. just have way too many expectations; apparently the main point of a car is to get from point A to B. Ignored the idiot who told me that and asked him why the Brake Hold was struggling when downhill. He was clueless and said that it's normal and it must be the way the brakes have worn in a particular direction. He went on to say that they only tested it uphill since the function of brake-hold is to prevent the car from slipping backwards. Bugger was full of nonsense. On the flip side, they also spent a day with the car removing the links and checking for any play, which they claimed there wasn't any. If I wanted to change the links regardless, it would be about 54k per wheel. Asked them to place it back as-is. Funny enough, after that the suspension seems to be performing significantly better and isn't wobbly anymore. The only thing is that it still tends to slightly fishtail sideways at the rear when driving at higher speeds over manhole covers, etc. on the road. Decided to take all these into my own hands and give explicit instructions to whichever garage I take the car going forwards, which will be Hy**** H**. Next step: get the brake fluid flushed and replaced since it is dark + there's most likely air bubbles inside. Figured this out since upon opening the reservoir lid, there was a bunch of bubbles that surfaced too. That's most likely causing the spongy brakes. Second, is to get a 3D wheel alignment done (possibly at Tyreb**s.lk) since they came recommended by Hy**** H**. This is to check if anything on the rear is out of place that can cause the minor fishtailing. Shall keep you guys updated!
  5. yes, that's the exact car. Quite a lot of city driving so I guess that's what's straining the brakes. I guess the stability assist feature also causes the pads to wear out faster than usual. How are the Brembo pads btw? Was thinking of getting those for the front when they need changing (quite soon, I guess!). Ok so here's an update. I'm going to fix the car issues one at a time starting with the brakes and suspension. I took it to the agent (yes, I don't know what got into me!), but armed with the Hybrid Hub service report. Expected a pushback from them as usual, however met one Mr. Guruge there who was actually quite embarrassed that they had failed to detect any of these issues despite my repeated indications of the same. I told them I wouldn't be servicing the car with them again due to this, however if there are very specific things like this, I wanted to give them a chance. He was apologetic and took a copy of the report to show the rest of the service advisors how to check and explain vehicle issues in detail. Basically, he said that Hybrid Hub seems to be doing a much better job . After that, he took the car for a 15min test drive and said that the brake discs are indeed too polished (they're almost like mirrors now), and they can get it faced. So, it's good they noticed the problem as well without disregarding it. If the brakes need changing, they'll let me know as well and I can choose to do it with them or outside if I opt for a 3rd party set of pads (I will certainly not be going with the Honda pads priced at 80k+ and last just under 20k km!). Mentioned the suspension issue and possibility of link failure, to which he admitted that they need to check that properly. I'm guessing the previous times I took it to them, they just visually inspected for grease marks and damages only, which there aren't. Decision time: I'll take it to the agent on Monday morning to get the rotors resurfaced and suspension checked. Any brake pad changes required will be done outside with Brembo or other brand brakes (any recommendations for this model?). That said, I don't want to compromise on brakes since that's the only thing saving me from entering the pearly gates of heaven (or dungeons of hell) when on the road! As for the suspension system, if links are an issue, I'd rather the agent fix it themselves with genuine, new parts rather than reconditioned / 2nd hand. All in all, the car is a gold-digger indeed... but she's MY gold-digger
  6. Still love the car, but she’s a gold-digger alright! Ugh yes the dreaded timing belt… hopefully I don’t get that little surprise too. So far the belt was mentioned as good. Has anyone else had their brake pads wear out so quickly though? It’s ridiculous that it only lasts like 3-4 years despite such low mileage. Might’ve had better luck with 3rd party pads than the stock ones, I guess!
  7. Ok so I took the car to Hybrid Hub for a service as the agent was absolutely useless. Got my favored choice of engine oil too: Castrol Edge 5W-30 A5. Just realized the agent was using Motul 0W20 C5 all along. Re: my woes, there was a service advisor named Akalanka who explained things very well. He took about 20min to go through these with me. 1) Brakes: calipers were getting stuck and I need to replace the front pads. He was surprised they wore off this fast and it looks like even the rear pads that were recently changed seem to have worn unevenly, thereby eating into the brake discs. The rear discs have worn quite a bit so they can’t re-face it. In any case, I need to book a separate session to get this fixed with a possible brake fluid bleed as well. Not enough time to do it with the service. The brakes still don’t seem to work right and I need to push the pedal down quite a bit. 2) Oil leak: it’s leaking between the engine and gearbox and is a common issue. Recommended to get this fixed at the next service since it’s a 2-day affair that shouldn’t be rushed. Estimate is around 100k. 3) Suspension: the links are not snapping back into place after a movement for some reason and there isn’t any visible damage (grease leaking, etc.). The shocks themselves are alright though. Need to book some time to get these removed entirely and checked + replaced. 4) Battery: the report came out bad and was advised to check for a different brand of battery apart from Amaron for longevity. They suggested Yuasa from DSL, but not sure if they have EFB ones. Anyway, my idle stop isn’t working anymore so this needs changing in a little while. Last time I changed it was in 2022. So.. it looks like I need to pace my repairs as they will end up being very expensive.
  8. Not yet. Couldn’t get much time due to work :(. Taking the car for servicing next week so fingers crossed these chaps find what’s wrong. Oh and I had to also top up quite a bit of engine oil after a while. Looks like that oil leaking issue has compounded itself.
  9. Ok there’s something really wrong with the suspension system now. The car tends to fishtail as well as “skid” sideways when encountering small bumps or metal manhole covers on the roads at cruising speed. Happens on both front and rear so it can’t be the tyres. Pretty scary since I seem to lose control of the vehicle in that instant. Going to take it to Hybrid Hub or Stafford at Maradana to check it out. The chaps at Rattanapitiya are beyond useless.
  10. Does anyone know of a good, reliable place to perform suspension checks and repairs? I used to go to Lal Alawatta in the past with my previous cars, but they seem to have closed shop.
  11. Ok folks.. so I’ve had a whole heap of tough luck these past few weeks 😢. 1) One of my Continental MC6’s developed a bulge due to damage from the inside - guessing one of those nasty potholes did it. A single tyre is 109k and hence replaced two on the axle with Yokohama ES32 for 56k each. So I’ve got one MC6 used for a year (under 10,000km for sure) available for sale if anyone wants it. 2) The agent ruined my AC system by mixing r134a with r1234yf. I had to drive with the AC set to like 20C to feel any reasonable cooling at low fan. Used to have it at 23C before. Took it elsewhere and found a leak in the condenser (yes, the second one). Got it replaced and they converted to r134a entirely. Now I need to keep the AC at 19C or it’s warm. Total mess up. This hullabaloo cost me 69k. 3) According to the agent, I’ve sprung a little oil leak that is common for all FK models above 40k km on the clock. Said it’ll cost 120k to fix and will take an entire day or more. Funny enough, I didn’t seem to have this before the service there about 3 weeks ago and they even changed the CVT fluid. 4) My suspension is really weird. It’s got my car wobbling sideways now when I go over bumps or holes. And gosh the ride is soooo stiff. According to the agent, that’s normal and is a signature of Civics. I know it wasn’t this bad before. Funny thing is one of the service advisors called me after the service and said that my shock mounts need replacing. When I went later to get that checked and done, they were like “nobody mentioned anything” and “all the shocks are perfect”. 5) During the service, I had to change my rear brake pads as they were worn off. Didn’t have a choice and it was really late that day plus didn’t want to take a risk so got it done at the agent. 76k for the rear pads alone. 6) Scratched by passenger side mirror on a tree at Tea Avenue thanks to the security chap there and his marvelous directions. Was dark so couldn’t see crap. Supposed to be about 8k to paint it. Yup… learning the meaning of patience.
  12. Hey RWD - yup, it is covered as code 4. I’m dreading the next big service for me with the CVT fluid change 😣 https://www.performancehondastore.com/honda-maintenance-minder-codes/ Not in the near future 😀. Had an issue with the import ban when my AC tech asked me to change the compressor… so he repaired it.. glad he did cos that saved me over 150k at the time 😀. No other issues so far, touch wood!
  13. Hey folks! How’s everyone doing? Ok so an update after 5 years of ownership. 1) Still going fine with 0w20 Motul and following the maintenance minder - 38k km on the clock 2) Continental tyres feel nice and comfy - good thing I got them before the prices shot up! 3) On my 2nd Amaron EFB battery - about 1 year in so far. Idle stop works fine at a max of 45sec. More than 1min with the ac off 4) I scratched my side mirror thanks to this security guard at Tea Avenue guiding me right into a tree. He had the audacity to later lecture me about folding mirrors when reversing - 8k on that paint job upcoming as it has an ugly patch. The panel came off, but managed to fit it back 5) My steering wheel has developed pretty bad scuff marks with the faux leather peeling off. I think it got worse over time thanks to hand sanitizers! Need to get a cover done 6) My ceramic coating from Meguiar’s (M688) seems to have finally given way. Will be going with an Artdeshine one after some paint touch ups 7) The repaired AC compressor is still holding strong! The AC chap was amazed and pretty proud of himself as it’s the first one he did that lasted this long. May need a recharge of R1234yf later Also no more rats!! Apart from car wiring, I also sprayed my whole garage and surroundings with the Marderspray from Liquimoly. Works a charm. Need to get more. Still love the car 😀
  14. Don’t even think about that on the 1L. Trust me.. I’ve had my EX Tech Pack since 2018 and I pumped 92 at our sheds just twice or thrice during the fuel crisis. The engine knocked so badly and my fuel economy was horrible. Never again. There’s a lot of info on this thread over the years btw.
  15. Hi there.. yup, changed all of my wipers.. for the front ones I got the following from Daraz and they work a charm: Bosch 26CA Clear Advantage Wiper Blade -26'' Bosch 18CA Clear Advantage Wiper Blade -18'' For the rear, I managed to get a Wilita frameless wiper blade from Show Car Detailers (they're down Hospital Road, Kalubowila now).
