Is it advisable to change just a single rear tyre of a front wheel driving car? (WagonR-MH55S) Does the car need wheel balancing? Should I refrain from putting this new tyre in the front during intervaled tyre rotations? Car is a brand-new purchase and only driven 14,500km on old tyres. Thread difference between the new and the old rear tyres are around 1.5mm. Thanks gdgy

WagonR owners club now recommends/suggests 0w16 Havoline for MH55s(2017 onward ) WagonR. Wonder how it would turn out for those engines.

I have a similar experience with a friend of mine. He bought a "7000km" mint condition WagonR from a VERY popular car importer. Didn't bother with auction sheets as obviously the car has seen more than 7000km for sure. (maybe around 30k) But kept silent about at as the ship has sailed for him.

Yes it's a fully synthetic oil specially made for cars with start stop system (Castrol Magnatec 5w30). But I am not so sure on 10,000km limit. First oil change is after 10,000km/12 months claiming it comes from the factory with high grade fully synthetic 0w16 oil, but then on they tell you to change it every 5,000km or 6 months.

It's the coolent temperature sign and it's normal. Usually it takes a minute or two for coolent to absorb engine heat and reach optimum working temperature. Blue temp sign doesn't mean engine is abnormally cold. It just means that coolent hasn't reached optimum working temperature which is around 95°C .

A*W recommends 5w30 (6 months or 5000km) stating that's what Suzuki Motor Corp JP recommends for Sri Lankan conditions. According to them, SL driving conditions usually falls in to "harsh or severe" catogery. (Dusty congested roads, creeping traffic, overloading) I think this is rather fair considering that wagonR is a Kei car supposed to do "Kei car stuff", but here in SL it's expected to be a all-rounder. But on the other hand third-party warranty providers/approved service stations recommend 0w20. They advice even not to opt for 5w20 which is odd cause 5w is the winter grade which we wouldn't need to worry about here in SL.

This is wrong. What A*W sells is a rebadged version of WagonR FZ. I too was in the same boat as you few months back. Ultimately made the decision to go with the agent imported WagonR. I would like to give my exeperiance in case you opt to go for a WagonR. WagonR is a fast moving car or as our mudalils say "sata gala yanawane, market badune". Therefore you will come across all kinds of shady units dressed up for sale. I have seen a car with only 100km in the odo but has almost 20+hours in idle stop timer? (most probably the guy who reset the odo forgot to reset this timer?). But the one that shocked me most is an unit which was bought by a very close friend of mine from a popular place. It seemed like a proper little car until I stepped on the foot break (hand break) When you press down on WagonR foot break you hear Tak Tak (wheel locking sound) sound which I think is a mechanism designed to keep the paddle from coming up. This is very audible and you could almost feel the tactile feedback when pressing down. But in my friend's car which was sold to him as a brand-new car had no tactile feel and the Tak sound is alomst non existent. You could hear it but it's day and night compared to mine. Think of how many successive operations this particular mechanism had to undergo. And it was a so called zero milage Brand new car. So if you decide to go with WagonR consider this.

Who is your warranty provider? Consult with them first. I don't think the agent (A*W) would have the necessary expertise since they dont import HUD fitted car. Asking around wagonR owners club Facebook page is a good way to get more information about it too.

First you need to understand the WagonR lineup. It goes as follows; WagonR FA (non hybrid) WagonR FX (hybrid, cheapest hybrid model, ugly beige interior) WagonR FZ (hybrid) WagonR Stingray (Hybrid,4WD and turbo variants available) WagonR Premium (WagonR FZ imporeted & rebadged by the agent) WagonR Stingaray is the highest grade WagonR you could buy. Radar Brake and HUD (in other models you have to request it as a add-on package)come as standard and interior gets reletively premium touch. WagonR Premium is the WagonR FZ imporeted by A*W. It comes with 4 year 80,000km manufacturer warranty. According to A*W this car's hybrid management system is fine tuned to match our conditioned. I followed up on this and Suzuki Motor Cooperation Japan indeed has conducted severel months long tests here in Sri Lanka prior to launch. You could verify this via wagonR FB groups. Aprt from interior and exterior differences both cars are built on the same chassis and engine/gearbox configuration. You cannot get Radar break add on package on the premium model as manufacturer hasn't tested its practically and suitability (or so they say) on our traffic and road conditions. Instead they they have thrown in a pioneer player with four speaker setup, parking sensors, fog lights, genuine car mats, interior illumination (you know how important these are for our car people? To sum it up; If you need the top of the line, all the bells & whistles go for the Stingray. If you need a safe option and not worry about JAAI බායි සෙටිපිකැට්ටු go for the agent imporeted brandnew model.

0w16 is a recommended oil for WagonR. (0w16, 0w20 and 5w30)

It depends; If you bought yours from the authorized agent you will get bellow schedule; 1,000km or 1 month inspection 5,000km or 6 months inspection 10,000km or 1 year full service Then on 5,000km or 6 months service intervals. If you bought grey market it's really hard to give exact schedule as different places give different schedules. However many are falling in line with agent schedule which is mentioned above. This is what it used to be. 1,000km full service 5,000km or 3 months, 6 months or 1 year service intervals.

These people go nuts whenever I say "machang I get 12 - 14kmpl in city traffic and 19 - 22 kmpl on long distance trips". They cliam I should be able to do more and there must be something wrong with my car. inb4 "ah oka kompani ne. Ape ewa (insert car mudalali name) gena orijinal japan" These are the same guys who keep RPM below 2,000 and say "dukayi Machan ita wada ress karanna". Oh and another thing. They say we should opt to 0w16 to get maximum fuel efficiency.?

What's the reason for this? Why shouldn't one run it on the same 20 weight oil it used to run in Japan. What are the reasons and benefits we could gain from moving to a higher viscosity oil?

Turn off Press service break > shift to neutral > apply parking break > release service break > reapply service break > shift to P > switch off Turn on Gear in P > Start car > apply service break > release parking break > shift to R or D

Same thing crossed my mind. But I thought "what do I know, these guys have been maintaining cars for lot longer than me. Also I went through both Castrol Magnatec 5w20, 5w30 and Edge 0w20 product data sheets and saw that there are only rather very small differences between the oil properties. I would much appreciate if anybody can further elucidate us on this matter. Suzuki Wagon R manual clearly specify 0w16,0w20 or 5w30 fully synthetic (IIRC on "full synthetic" part) and "only" 5w30 & 5,000km service interval for turbo variant.

This is a common issue in the WagonR (yet to confirm on A*W import being free of it) . By common I mean its caused by improper servicing and new model lacking an under-guard. I'm sorry but think you got ripped off by Wasana Garage because Laugfs would service the said part and rectify the issue for just under 10k. Best practice is not to wash undercarriage aggressively.

Glad to hear it. Fuel figures might drop but it wont be noticeable I guess? At the end of the day if you can afford a 3 mil car you certainly can afford to lose a few kmpl if the outcome is better engine lubrication. But the WagonR crowd, specially the Facebook page members are adamant on using 0w20 and are planning on finding selller/importer for 0w16 oil . Please update this thread with your findings regarding magnatec 5w30

***Update*** Good news everybody, A*W now allows customers to bring in engine oil for their Wagon R Premium (FZ non safety) under following conditions and terms. Must be a Fully Synthetic oil. Oil grade should be 0w16, 0w20 or 5w30. Apart from this A*W now carries following oils for Waggon R.(not quite sure, you might wanna check with them to confirm) Castrol Edge Extended Performance 5w20, 5w30. Castrol Magnatec 5w20, 5w30.
