  1. Once the fuel light is on, how long can we travel before it comes to a halt? I mean in general. Asking just for fun and think it's better to have a rough idea. :)

PS: averaging ~14kmpl these days with my Vitz.

Don't wait till low fuel warning lights up to refill if you can help it. You'll prolong the service life of the fuel pump and prevent risk of plugging the fuel filter up prematurely

Before I replaced my half dead fuel pump last year I wanted to try this lol. Car is a 2 liter VW Bora.

Waited till the fuel light came on and drove to a work warehouse from home (About 22km) and the car ran out just as I arrived at the warehouse. Obviously I don't recommend doing this as it hurts your fuel pump more than you think, mine was whining louder than an injured dog afterwards ?

Agree with @Hyaenidae.. never ever let your fuel tank drop to empty. If it does, all the sediments at the bottom of the fuel tank will get sucked into the fuel pump. Over time, it could cause a blockage. Also, this is Sri Lanka and the fuel blends sold here are not the purest you know...

  2. Saw on a popular Q&A website. Just funny or is some truth there? :D

Can't get any more true. Also, I second the "Germans love plastic" sentence.

rather than "overengineered", I would say "engineered for different operating conditions". If a car travels most of the time above 200kmph , then the suspension like the bottom picture is mandatory to ensure handling and comfort. About plastics, they are composites not the type you have in the toilet bucket etc,its also part of innovation for cost and weight reduction. Even the Honda civic has a plastic Valve cover now, doesn't it?

This! Drive an euro at high speed and compare it to a Jap car, they're 2 different leagues!

fully agreed. Once restrictions were eased it took me almost a week of driving to get my defensive driving skills back. I was feeling so dis-orientated and had a couple of close shaves. I'm a lot better now, so give it time.

Oh yes.. I drove for a very short distance on Tuesday, and saw enough fellows who had forgotten how to use their turn signals. I saw one guy come from behind on the outside lane, and cut across in front of me with no prior warning into the inside lane and turned into a byroad.. Luckily i saw him through my figures and figured he would do what he did lol

  4. Getting the plates to match the model :D (not my car)

Better than this are the numbers like 0420 or 0666 which matches the owners personality.

I regularly saw a white Peugeot 508 with the number 508.

@AVANTE what do 420 and 666 have to do with the owners personality? ?

@varotone one's a successful businessman and another is an exorcist.

Both numbers display the respective good qualities of such characters!

  5. Hope his use of cars are not as bad as phrases he use (calling Japanese cars as junks). I am a fan of Bimmers too but shouldn't discredit others this way. Also wondering what he called a 'Beast', The car or the previous owner? ??

I don't know about beasts..but thanks to you sir, today I learned about the existence of a dangerous german feline species called 'gascat'.

What's with these weird ad description by these bimmer guys anyways..saw an E90 3-series for sale a while back with the description: "No major accidents, not even a squirrel".

Also, the description is missing 'changed blinker fluid recently'

These are not TRUE/REAL beemer enthusiasts. These are wanna bes who bought a BMW for the flash of it and they saw cool youtube videos of BMWs doing cool s**t. They either bought old ones...usually the permit hacked ones as the good ones rarely change hands in public...or used their mommies and daddies permits to buy one (technically using mom and dad's car). Check the forum...a few years ago some of us commented how the old Civic rice boys are getting in to BMWs
