There's a Volvo 460 up for sale for 500k. In rough shape but a runner nonetheless. On a duplicate book. Any leads on a good mechanic to get it inspected and handover the restoration job if I decide to buy it?

Hands down the best cars were made in the 90s, they had the ideal amount of creature comforts/electronics. They were comfortable to daily drive but not over filled with electrics to make them boring.

Both headlights of my Vitz 130 were stolen by thieves while parked overnight in car park of a service centre next to my house. Police is suspecting kuddos and shows no hurry to investigate. Got them replaced at my own expense and waiting for the insurance to reimburse. ?

rather than "overengineered", I would say "engineered for different operating conditions". If a car travels most of the time above 200kmph , then the suspension like the bottom picture is mandatory to ensure handling and comfort. About plastics, they are composites not the type you have in the toilet bucket etc,its also part of innovation for cost and weight reduction. Even the Honda civic has a plastic Valve cover now, doesn't it?

Let's hear some stories. Has anyone had their car breakdown in the worst possible way or moment? On the way to hospital, Middle of a jungle, In a junction, etc.

I was on a road trip with some uni friends on a picturesque coastal road in Shikoku island Japan, when suddenly the Fan-belt on the BMW E36 broke. The next garage was about 50km away, which was reached with the car on a Tow truck with 4 travellers inside. That delayed the return trip by half a day. That night was a heavy Typhoon with highest rainfall for Shikoku in 50years, and road to Honshu (Main island) was closed. We had to take refuge during the night in a local police station, who took very good care of us!

Those Chinese head units, including the Android ones. How good are they sound quality wise? Some even have full band equalizer.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Never really understood the appeal for Keis- after driving through a horribly narrow road during the school rush I kinda now get it ?

Thinking of shifting from Honda to Mercedes Benz. Is it a wise decision ?

I recently came across an electrician meddling with a vehicle's side mirrors
When the mirrors were retracted, it failed to stop at the normal position, instead the left side mirror kept moving towards the front of the vehicle.
The electrician mentioned that the mirrors have 'gone out of timing'
Apparently this happens if the mirrors get knocked or bumped into. He folded/unfolded the mirror which had the problem using his hands couple of times and the issue was sorted out

The goal is to change cars every 6 months and go for upgrades every 6 months time. This way I get to drive many cars in my life and upgrading as well whilst the vehicle prices rise up accordingly...

Who likes to volunteer to come with me to inspect a Cefiro this saturday (would be a joy ride to downsouth) as I dont know what to check in a big engine like this

So a chap spends like 7mil on a car, with 1litre engine capacity + turbo, still confused about gas mileage and in the end complain!
I mean what are you trying to achieve here?
Impress the neighbor? Feel big?
Why not use half of that on a thirsty SUV, or a tad bit older premium car, and spend a bit more on fuel! and peace of mind

Just checked out a Suzuki Jimny
rear is just tiny! might as well just tear out those seats and use it for luggage.
its like an alto in terms of quality inside
major dissappointment even if one can get around it being 2 door.

How much is Adblue in SL?

sorry I meant the NOx storage catalyst is replaced by the SCR-adblue system. Particulates still need to be taken care of by DPF. It is the only way to fulfill Euro6 emissions norm. But you have an advantage that fewer or no Lambda sensors are needed(also a part which fails prematurely) More information can be found from wikipedia German article https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selektive_katalytische_Reduktion "By a selective catalytic reduction nitrogen oxides are removed from the exhaust gas with a high efficiency. In contrast to the diesel particulate filter (DPF), there is no additional fuel consumption. This advantage also applies to the alternative method of reducing nitrogen oxides by means of a NO x storage catalyst which, like the DPF, requires a temporary avoidance of optimum combustion conditions. The installation of an SCR NOx reduction system makes it possible to operate the engine at more fuel-efficient operating points. Consumption thus drops by between 3 and 8%, depending on the driving style."

Are there any BMW’s, Jaguar’s or Audi Models in Sri Lanka with frameless windows where the manufacture year is between 2000 to 2005? Gotta start deciding what to buy next
