  1. A 2012+ Viva Elite would tick most of your boxes I'd go for a 2015ish Geely Emgrand if I were you, though it won't be nearly as easy to sell off compared to a Viva Elite. People tend to run away screaming when it's a Chinese-made car with a 1800CC engine 😂
  2. Did you try checking/replacing the PCV valve?

    Insurance premium

Nah they must have changed the sum insured figure of your car.
  4. It's a relative thing; for instance, a car that never sees an engine oil change or even a top-up would usually be less reliable than a car of the same make and model that receives regular oil changes at correct intervals
  5. Well if it's worth it that's all that matters, the most reliable car in the world wouldn't be worth it if it doesn't make you "grin ear to ear" after all 😇
  6. Aight Imma say it: the amount of repairs and the cost you end up having to eat sound quite excessive for a 6-year-old Japanese car in all honesty... is she worth all this trouble and cost? There is also the issue of a potential timing belt failure
  7. Price: $9.92 on Aliexpress (with shipping) Security verification via https://catalog.mann-filter.cn/
  8. TS10 - Pro https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32720737378.html Another plus point of getting one specifically designed for your vehicle model is you don't have to modify the original factory harness - the unit comes with a T-harness which plugs into the original factory adapter so it's plug-and-play, just as if you bought an original Japanese HU
  9. Chinese Android unit with a good sound processor + DSP. I got one for my Lancer which has the factory speaker set, sounds way crispier than a Pioneer HU in a same spec Lancer. Equalizer options are pretty neat too. Plus you can run Spotify/Youtube Music directly through the HU. Mine cost 75k back in 2022 when the $ was like 205-210LKR from Aliexpress Go for one with a ROHM32107 or better sound processor and I'm sure you won't be disappointed
  10. Any idea if the problem existed before the ATF change?
  11. When did you or the previous owner replace the ATF? It sounds like a transmission issue. Check if the ATF level is correct and if the fluid looks burnt
  12. Even if it's a drain and fill?
  13. If it's a permit import there could be special conditions which would be deleted after some time Eg: Cannot be transferred until 3 years / 5 years... so and so... that would be deleted after the stipulated time period
  14. According to my cheap ELM327 scanner there is hardly a difference between 100% 92OCT and 50% 95OCT when it comes to knock sensor readings... Got myself a Launch scanner, will repeat the test and see if there'd be a difference
  15. Yep totally worth the investment
  16. Car scanner pro version. Easily the best app for ELM327 readers out there https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovz.carscanner&hl=en&gl=US I also bought a Launch CRP129-I from the winter sale on Aliexpress for $135 including shipping, quite the bargain if I do say so myself. Still waiting for it to be delivered tho
  17. What does the owner's manual say? If it says 95 Octane is mandatory and any lower would damage the engine I wouldn't pump 92RON. I have a Mitsubishi Lancer, the owners manual recommends 95RON but states gasoline with an octane rating above 90RON is compatible because the car has a knock control system (almost all modern vehicles have this system afaik) and pumping 90RON or above would not damage the engine. If there is no audible knocking sound from the engine after pumping 92 I think it would stand to reason that the knock control system is capable of adapting the engine to 92RON. For example, fellow forum member @misnad tried pumping 92RON to his Civic and had to revert back to 95RON because the engine started audibly knocking despite the knock control system If you have an ELM327 OBD scanner you can see how much your knock control system is retarding the engine timing to compensate for lower octane fuel. Compare the readings between 92RON and 95RON and if there is not much of a difference it would be safe to assume that switching to 92RON wouldn't be an issue long-term
  18. Doesn't the Eclipse come with TPMS from the factory? My $20 Chinese TPMS system monitors the temperature inside tyres, I think it would've triggered an overheating warning if something like this happened
  19. Nope the picture you've posted doesn't indicate an issue
