  1. Just curious on the headlight fracture. What did the previous owner claim on how that happened ?
  2. Anyone know a place in Colombo/Suburbs I can buy a dome light assembly for a Camry XV20 ?

Dome light as in the light in the middle of the roof and not the reading/map lights that are by the rear view mirror ?

If it is the one in the middle of the roof..I am 99% certain Toyota used a standard part. So you will be able to use one from any other Toyota (of the period). You might need to do some hunting to match the trim color though.

Yes its the one in the middle of the roof irage.

  3. Interesting topic indeed. What you have got there is a one in a million opportunity mate. Just think, people die trying to make that move in boats. But that being said, in the end its all about finding contentment right. I'd say to make life interesting, try to find at least few good things you enjoy there. May be its the eerie silence in the winter, May be its the good coffee or new hobby, some volunteering ? Try to focus on those things rather than the negatives. There must be few good aspects there... it cant be all gloom. And if your main objective of moving there is savings, doubt you can achieve anything lucrative when living with the family with a single source of income. In that case, have you considered moving there by your self first and bringing the family after like 1-2 years may be ? By then you are settled in and have savings built up. Agreeing with @noddy, never know what will happen to SL its too volatile and no one can predict. If you held up to that job by your self given the family can manage alone here in SL without you I think that would be the best option. They can always join you in case things get too bad here. Would love to hear others have to say, as I might be in the same boat in a few months time
  4. Agreed, It IS if not the prettiest of them all. Specially in white. Do you have a history of Pugs in the family ? Usually people who buy them have a family history of Pugs for generations. If not when you think of buying a new ride, I dont think a 508 just comes to your mind. Partly because its not something you see often on our roads. Anyways, waiting for the next chapter with specs ?
  5. Been using NWBs for few years now. Last pair lasted over 2 years. Can recommend. Got them from Gree**Mon*** paid 10,000+ for the new pair 1 month back. 2 Years ago same pair was 6000 😪
  6. I ordered a set of wiper blades on end of March, but had no issues. I got them in like 2 weeks. (Still it was bit late, and had to pay almost the double I payed 2 years back for the same set) But they did deliver. But things might have changed now, 1 month is more than enough to go out of business the way things are happening now. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Did anyone renew the driving license recently, heard that they are no longer issuing the plastic cards ? But a temporary license on paper. Is it true ?
  8. Second what Mats suggested, I used a Perodua Kelisa from 2011-2015. 2007 Manufactured, Manual. KF plates. Used to travel up and down from Kandy to Gampaha every weekend. Amazing car, didn't give me any issues, that 1L 3 pot is rev friendly and has some good low end torque. I could easily overtake anything in Kadugannawa with that little thing. I guess it ticks all your boxes too. @matroskawould you believe I bought that for 11.5 lacks back in the day with just 11,000 kms on the clock. God I really miss that car. 😔
  9. Day by day the 'Hit' automative quote in SL is making sense is'nt it.  "සබ්බං පහාය ගමනීයන්" - Must leave everything behind.

Anybody else, contemplating on leaving SL ? I know its not the forum for this classic debate. And it has been argued back and forth. But are there any rational to stay. Because I can'nt find any, apart from parents. :(

p.s. I have been very firm on staying here in SL until these recent developments. But even if these issues in the country gets temporary solved by some loan, will there be any assurance things will get better and remain better in future.

Leaving parents, your assets here to start from 0 in an unknown setup with lot of risks. Is it still worth, the way things are going right now ?

Things are declining super fast... guess it is just going to be a matter of time for a total collapse. :(

@GK_007hate to say it but it does seem like a matter of when it ill collapse rather than if it will collapse

I think it has already at least partially collapsed

  10. Thanks a lot @Gummybr and @iRage 🤗 Just what I was looking for.
  11. + bump up, anyone with experience on the vitara or santa fe ?
  12. Sorry for bringing up an old thread. I am contemplating of buying a Vitara for some time now. The model I am looking for is the 1994-1995ish manufactured Vitara JLX, the LWB version. Registration number 18- , 19- or 301- I know its not be best time to buy vehicles here 😕 but will it ever be normal again, and how long to wait.. Main reason I am looking for one is tackling bad mountainous roads like once or twice a month with 2 adults, 3 kids and luggage. Wont be using it for serious off-roading. I know these comes with a 1.6 engine, not sure if these can handle that too now after these years. These are old, and changed hands numerous times, undergone engine rebuilds most are not in good shape etc. Anyone can shed some light of this model, how they cope up with the age. I am willing to spend some on repairs if needed, and any potential modifications. And anything specific to look for when buying for one. Any better alternatives for the price range of 2.5 mn- 3mn with 4wd ? All I seek is good ground clearance, 4WD, and 'some' reliability that It does not breakdown middle of nowhere fuel is not a concern. All your opinions and ideas are most welcome.
