  1. Well Vitz is just 3 years from becoming a decade old car. I would go with the IST over Vitz but considering the market factors Vitz is the best deal.
  2. It means that in Sri Lanka EK series has more market appeal than the ES series. I'm wondering why. I have heard that Honda ES series has some sensor issue or ECU issue or something. Is it correct or is their any other reason for this particular Civic series to be condemned in our market?
  3. Why Honda Civic ES series (ES1, ES5 and ES8) failed to gain the similar fame as it's older brother the EK series in Sri Lanka? This odd question has baffled my mind for some time. What are you thinking guys?
  4. They told you so because it is the right thing to do. Sri Lanka is not like US where you can buy cars for cheap and parts for cheap.
  5. Your friend is correct indeed mate. Don't loose your head in front of the heart. Though if you have time and money to throw away go get a EG8.
  6. Really? Fuel pump just cost you only 3000 rupees? I thought it would be much pricier due to it's hard to reach location.
  7. What kind of millage you expect from a car?
  8. I'm just browsing through the older cars of the same era. Can an expert tell me what are the engine conditions of 20 year old cars like these. I guessing that these cars have done over 250,000 kms despite the millage. P.S. also like to know about the condition of both manual / auto gear boxes of this much older cars.
  9. Buy FB 15 new shell. It gives the pleasure of both worlds.
  10. Go for 121 (manual probably which will not be very marketable), Passo or a bee shell Carina. Carina may be older and overpriced but it will tick all your boxes.
  11. Exactly the point. Technology matures. Indeed. Then what will happens to the products with obsolete tech?
  12. Well Sri Lanka is not Colombo and it's suburbs.
  13. Well I'm not into the Teutonic machines. I'm perfectly happy with a Aston.
  14. You don't get the point. 1) Hybrid inverters going to fail eventually. 2) Replacing a brand new one will cost around 1.5 mil 3) Replacing a recon one will cost less but they will not be reliable (still the replacement cost will be more than 5 laks) 4) Therefore buying a old hybrid will be like burning away your money 5) So, the demand for the hybrids will fade away and the hybrid market will be crashed Still in Sri Lankan market we haven't experience trouble with hybrids because the majority of the hybrids are imported after 2009 or so. I think many will bear witness to the fact that how hard it is to sell older 2 gen prius hybrids. That fate awaits for the 3rd gen hybrids also when they get old. The issue hear is not about when the hybrid fails. The issue is what our Sri Lankan car buyers will do when hybrids fail.
  15. They will have to be sold to scrap if not change the engine to a IC type.
  16. Hello bro.. I have a GD6. When I visited S****d for a oil change, they recommended 15,000 km. So you better stick with it rather than going for 20,000 km.
  17. Prices will come down eventually. But the reliability of the parts specially the inverters cannot be guaranteed. Even so the tiring process of dismantling the engine compartment to replace even a single part of the system will be there. IMHO no local "Bass unnaha" will be able to handle such daunting task. It will be relegate to more specialist mechanics just like today's Mercs and Bemmers. Needless to say they cost a lot than the local "Bass". Hybrid won't age as smoothly as the ICE cars. Hybrid market is going to crash sooner or later in Sri Lanka.
  18. You know how much it will cost to replace a inverter? Do you know even then on one can be certain whether the replaced invert would go bust sooner or later. There is everything to panic about old hybrids. Problem is not with the knowledge of the hybrid maintenance. The issue is because the intensive costs involved. It's not worth the effort to keep the old hybrid so that you can spare few bucks on the fuel.
  19. Battery is only "a" problem not "the" problem. What about the inverter?
  20. Don't blame the mechanics. It's not there fault that the hybrid tech is getting improved in ever faster rate. Simply they can't catch up. Anyhow there are specialized hybrid mechanics in Sri Lanka people can go look for them if there is any prob with their vehicles. However don't expect every garage bass in the island to acquire the knowledge of the hybrids instantaneously. Some people who think they are wiser than the mechanics think mechanic are fools. But it's clearly evident who has the last laugh.
  21. I base my assumption on the so called second gen hybrid resale-ability in Sri Lanka.
