  1. You may right in calling personal vehicle a Life style element. But that does not negate the fact that how important it has become in modern lifestyle. Owning a car is a human right and I say it again that government should not bar common man from having it. Even though public transportation is much convenient and easy it doesn't cancel out human tendency to roam free on his/her own. You should not misunderstand the need for a car and the need for convenient public transport. I don't think anyone would like to sit in bumper to bumper traffic for hours. There should be good public transportation system as well as the freedom to own a good quality car.
  2. There's a place in Nugegoda called D* S*l*a. I don't know whether they have any branch in Kandy.
  3. Sorry to go off topic, But I do believe that a car is a basic human need nowadays. Everyone loves to own a car. It is not necessarily to go from point A to B but as a symbol of social status. Not all developed countries rely on public transports. Public transports are only better in congested cities. People loves to enjoy the freedom personal vehicle can offer. And the thrill of driving. It is a crime to deny the general public that privilege.
  4. indeed mate. Though we can forgive doctors for requesting permits for obvious reasons. There can be no redemption for other civil servants. IMHO owning a motor vehicle has become a basic human need. Government should not bar people from pursuing their dreams. If people living in Sri Lanka could own a newer and better motor vehicles without breaking sweat I don't think many of them would leave this country for better prospects elsewhere.
  5. I don't think they will find every fault with your vehicle specially the under body accident repairs. Therefore it is better that you use a trusted mechanic as well. However, the inspection will give you a fairly good picture of the vehicle if it done correctly. It is better than nothing.
  6. One of my friends has bought a BJ5P with a bad tranny because of this Gear Oil. The idiotic previous owner had use this oil instead of the Mazda recommended one which costs around 10-12k. Now he has to replace the entire gear box. So, I advice you people proceed with caution.
  7. Nice to hear that. But it is better to be cautious.
  8. But people should be wary of imported Mazda 3 models specially if they are from Europe for corrosion.
  9. It is not wise to change CVT gear oil at 40,000 kms. Better do it in every 15,000 km. That is what recommended to me for my Fit Aria. Though the both cars are ages apart I believe that oil will deteriorate faster in Sri Lankan conditions. Better to be safe than sorry.
  10. Vitz comes with the infamous 1KR engine which is a 3 cylinder type. 3 cylinders are notorious for their instability and the vibration is quite common issue in these engines. Similar example is the Kwid. The vibration will get bigger with the time and you should not worry about it IMHO unless of course you would feel excessive vibration out of normal parameters.
  11. If I remember correct what he said was applicable for certain models of cars in our market. Of course engines wear out to a degree when it pass the 100,000 mark. The wearing out depends mostly on the way engine was used. Generally 100,000 is not a serious mileage for cars except for certain models.
  12. There were several advertised by the quick site. 2000-2001 model year vehicles. 100 and 110 yeah. Those are the ones I'm after. I also happened to stumble upon a Jap site called "Amayama" for spares. Would that work for me? Is E-bay an viable alternative? Pre-ordering the parts is also sounding fair. Thanks for the descriptive post mate. Cheers. By the way, I have also heard that there is no fixed prize for these vehicles. Would it possible to knock down several lax from the original offer?
  13. Yeah I do. I am currently researching about Mark 2s. Do you know anything about spare availability? Some say spares are hard to come.
  14. What is the meaning of rugged suspension? I thought Mark II to be quite comfy.
  15. Parts are bit expensive compared to Toyotas but overall not a big issue. However, some parts maybe hard to source and expensive in Badulla area than in Colombo. There are plenty of Honda parts in Delkanda in Colombo. Interior is far better in Fit Aria. Nothing comes close to it in the segment. Fit Aria is a good choice but check whether you can source spares and their prize in your area before buying. Otherwise go with Vios.
  16. There is nothing to talk about fuel efficiency. Fit Aria is the best in it's class. Second only to the hybrids. In Colombo it does around 10 and outstation you can achieve 15 easily. Spares are no problem in Colombo. You better check around Bandarawela area for Fit Aria spares. I have seen many Fit Arias in Bandarawela town. Some even in garages. The only issue with Fit Aria is it's sensitive CVT gear box. You need to take good care of the gear box and you must put Honda CVT gear oil only which cost close to 10,000 rupees at every 15,000 km. Between Vios and Fit Aria, Vios is only good in resale department and maintenance department. However, Vios might be a saner alternative for you if you don't need much hassle with your purchase.
  17. Yeah good luck. Always remember to practice patience. Good cars are rare to find.
  18. Why don't you go for Honda Fit Aria? I have seen many Fit Arias in Bandarawela area. It mainly does better in fuel.
  19. Good to know that. But I don't trust any of these people. Better to be careful after all.
  20. AFAIK macho.. every car sales guy is doing this thing. After all we are at their mercy when we import cars from Japan. However, this won't happen if you purchase a vehicle from the authorized dealer in Sri Lanka. But, then you won't get the JDM version.

It is a major crime not putting a entrance to the Outer circular highway stretch between Kadawatha-Kerawalapitiya from the Negombo road at Welisara.

There were Tendering for subcontract works of the Port Access Elevated Highway back in early 2017. Apparently the project have been handed over to a Japanese firm. However, no development of the works is heard afterwards. Maybe the project is shelved for the time being. As far as the plans are concerned the route was designed to go over the existing New Kelani bridge and bypass the Orugodawatta area towards the Port City entrance near Presidential secretariat.
  23. There is absolutely no use in checking the Odo's in Sri Lankan vehicles. After all the Odos' are preset in Japan before been sent. It is better to check the break pad rather than checking the Odo.
