    Members,

I live in Colombo 03. There was a leading Finance company next to my home for many years, at present they are not in business, although they were one of the oldest company. I had met almost all people who do the seizing. Some are not very honest they never return the car next day to the company they remove what ever removable mostly all tires in very quick time. Mostly they tow the car to the finance company yard.

When new buyer buys he signs papers the car as it is condition.  So after you cannot claim any thing from the finance company. Above what I said happens to mostly to older vehicles, You are buying a vehicle unknown without any guarantee, therefore be prepared to put it to your required stranded with whatever costs comes later.

If the vehicle is few years old and it is a daily runner, first of all try to find who is the previous owner get some information of him, try to find a close associate of him then you will know the condition before. IF the owner is a honorable person , vehicle had been seized due to some difficulty of his financial status, he had been using to the last day then vehicle will be a good selection.

You may get small financial beneficent still the previous owner will curse to the financial company.

I had a friend who used to go to all Bank auctions and bought pawned Gold Jewellery. He later had a miserable life.

oh no im afraid of curses.. I'm staying out of auction vehicles then

if you have any contacts visit the finance company yards. You can find some good deals. Although with present market conditions i would think that even yard-ed vehicles move out at faster pace.

i did.. apparently yard vehicles have higher prices than the normal vehicles advertised... crazy f**ks

Done this about 17 years back.

Guess it is still the same.

You will be buying on an AS-IS basis, with no guarantee or warranty. The company I was dealing, was a small finance company so hardly any competition.

Registered bidders get an opportunity to view the vehicles a few hours before the auction, had no chance to take them for a spin but the company use to say if it is drivable (last)

Once you have placed the winning bid you will be asked to "pay in full" (They gave us some deadlines to collect the goods)

You can't buy the car under an open book, the Leasing company will handle the transfer process for you.

    hope this helps

    regards,

    JC

    ahh great thanks mate.

Since the leasing company has the absolute ownership no such letter is required. They will transfer the vehicle under their name and then sell through tender

thanks @Quietdo you know of any auctions happenning in leasing companies lately where i can go and bid? where do i find those auction information?

These are the documents you should obtain from the company......

MTA 6 signed along with embossed seal and director seal (by two directors). Name & address should be filled as it is mentioned on the CR.

No objection letter address to RMV, signed with embossed seal by two directors in the Letterhead

    Copy of;

    1.  Business Registration

    2. Form 48, Form 20 or Form 1

    3. Form containing the Company Registration Address.

    4. NIC of the two Directors

    Original CR Book

Absolute ownership Deletion letter from the leasing company

First 7 years Luxury/Semi luxury tax receipts. (If applicable)

    Revenue License

    quick question

    1. Business registration - is it a copy needed?

    2. For 48 etc. Does the companies know about these forms?

    3. Form containing the company address - whats the form name?

Also the no objection letter should be signed by JP of that area right? what else does JP has to sign out of these?

machang did you undergo this process before? the no objection letter should be signed by JP? Also what is the director who was in charge back when the car was transferred to them is no more the director there?

  7. Guys does anyone know what are the documents needed when transferring a car owned by a company? what should be the name address etc. put in the transfer papers? and what sorta of other documents we need or any special things we need to consider? I'm talking about a car that was owned by a huge company for 20 years probably that has many directors also. Anyone have experience in doing this before? Also the car was initially leased under Orix leasing so the absolute ownership is in a leasing company. Your help would be highly appreciated.

V30 Vista is a beautiful car, but I haven't seen one in a very long time, they seem to be some what rare. Parts are bit hard to come by including mechanical parts. Last time when I went looking for CV30 parts, some spare parts shops didnt even know the model.

Petrol is either EU13(SR18) or HU13(SR20) and diesel is SU13(CD20)

The CV30 Camry is diesel intercooler turbo, 2C intercooler turbo to be specific. Have driven one and can confirm its pretty quick. A small light on the instrument cluster comes on when the turbo kicks in :D

ahh thanks for that explanation. Didnt know the difference between EU and SU

    Hi Guys,

Continuing my car hunt for a non ridiculously priced car. I'm  looking for a car that is  relatively comfy around 1.2-1.4 Mill. There are early 90s Diesel Barges for this budget. Nissan Bluebird U12 and Camry/Vista CV30.  64- plates. Have a couple of questions for the experts here.

    1. What would be the better choice between Bluebird and Camry/Vista? Parts wise? Engine reliability? Easy to live with? Performance?

    2. SU12 Bluebirds are almost same price or more expensive as CV30 Camry's...given that Toyota's are more expensive usually is there a specific reason for this?

    3. How reliable are these old diesels(Bluebird has the vanette LD engine and Camry has 2C )? Can a one time engine overhaul sort things out for a reasonable time? How would these engines fare at emissions test?

I don't have a specific reason for buying diesel but prices seem relatively ok and you can't find petrol variants of these cars easily.

    Any other suggestions are welcome.

Its funny I'm looking for the same 2 cars as you these days but I'm looking for for the SU13 and SV40 though, and I',m looking for the Petrol ones because I cant stand the noise of Diesels, and diesel engines are not that good compared to petrol's. Specially given that these cars are almost more than 25 years old.

hardtop has frameless doors....sedan normal doors....

slight differences in the lights and body trim and grade levels..

ahhh im looking for the hardtop :) very hard to find petrol vistas in sri lanka noh

S means it has a Toyota S engine.

SV40 -> 1.8L 4S-FE engine. Came in most 1.8L Petrol Toyotas of the period. Carina, Corona/Caldina

    SV41 -> 2.0L 3S-FE. Carina/Corona/Celica/Noah+TwonAce+LiteAce/RAV4,etc....

Are you looking a the hardtop or the sedan ?

ah right. whats the difference between the hardtop and the sedan?

  12. Guys, are there any other cars that use the same engine and suspension parts as the vista sv40? also how much does a 2litre petrol SV41 do on fuel actually? The auto transmission. Will it do at least 7 ? Also whats the difference between the SV40 and the SV41?

Uhh...I don't think you are talkng about a limited edition.

The U13 sedan came in two lineups. EEX, which was the standard non sporty, family oriented version; and the SSS which was the sporty version.

The 2000SSS was first released as 2000SSS-G, 2000SSS-G Attessa and 2000SSS-G Limited Atessa (this would have been in 1991 ish.) Then in mid 1992ish they introduced a 2000SSS-G S.Limited Type I and Type II. These new introductions were pretty luxo with slightly nicer eat materials and sunroof, spoiler, etc... As for the beige and brown interior...it totally depends....Nissan offered quite a few choices of interior color apart fro the default interior color for specific body colors.

why I said limited edition was because I have never seen a U13 in sri lanka that has sunroof and the beidge dashboard. I asked a person who does U13 parts. He said for the sri lankan market only the grey dashboard interior came, unless someone imported a baidge dashboard, which was the case. So I guess my friends' car is the only car in SL that has a sunroof and the beidge dashboard.

We have a U13 Bluebird diesel, mechanical parts are available around Kandy and Kurunegala but body and interior parts are rare. We ripped off a 2.0L SSS in Japan and brought down the parts. The 2.0L SSS has different bigger brakes, slightly lower suspension, different interior with more body hugging seats, wood trim on the dash, more seat driver seat adjustments, rear seat console and brown tinted glasses.

There are 1.8L SSS variants in SL but highly down any of the 2.0L made it to SL.

nice car mate. My friend has a 2.0L SSS Petrol, auto U13.. it has a sunroof too with baidge and brown dashboard. (I havent seen the baidge and brown interior in any U13s in sri lanka and also a sunfroof one) I think thats a limited edition. It was brand new imported to sri lanka in 92. The first owner used it for 27 years and sold it to my friend last year. After seeing that only I also wanted to buy a U13.
