I don't know how you would get the license when you are not here....however, I do know that if you lose your driver's license in a foreign country you need to get the police report from the foreign police station and attested by the nearest Sri Lankan diplomatic mission (i.e. the embassy or high commission). After which you come back here and report the loss to the RMV (one guy I knew had to go to his local police station in SL and relodge the loss whilst another didn't..so no idea what is happening with that).

Can you call your embassy and check what you need ?

    -_-

  2. So folks yo! Been a while eh? :D

So after a night of hard drinking I lost my wallet in Germany. My SL drivers license was also in it. I don't need it as I'm not coming back to SL, but I need the SL driving license to convert into my German driving license as I did not do it when I came here. Now, the question is without coming to SL, how can I get my Sri Lankan driving license again? I would save around 1000 euros and quite a lot of driving lessons if I convert from my SL DL to DE DL. There is no point of me coming to SL and getting it again because then I'm losing out more money anyway.

@fiat fan Haha Every seems a good option but not the most teen friendly look, Im not actually looking for a family vehicle coz Im the only child and buying this from my hard earned internet dollars, thought of converting my dollars to spend on something cool coz of the dollar crisis in the country, thought doing my part to get this mess at least a bit cleared.

If my parents could afford a normal car I would definitely waste my money in a Honda S660 or a Daihatzu Coupen. HaHa (wild teenage dreams) I can't do that coz I should be able to take my parents in a nice ride right?

For now Im staying with three options

    1. Civic FD4

    2. Lancer CS3

    3. Aqua 2013

Civic is like 1.5mil expensive than latter 2 but lets see whats actually good with your thoughts, Im a completely idiot noob to this subject haha

@PreseaLover Seems like an uncommon vehicle, how is the parts availability sir?

you havent seen a Mark II GX100 in your life before? Plenty of Mark II's and Parts available. Its a luxury vehicle. None of what you specified are luxury cars. Go check the FB group Toyota Mark II sri lanka

Well...depends on whether he is at a point in his life where he is willing to admit to it...sort of ready to come out of the closet or not...He has been outward about his frameless desires..but deep inside he has been luting over SRs...so might not be ready to admit he is in to BEAMS.

BEAMS VVTI Engine :D I like beams better than the SR's now :D

  6. Does anyone have an old ipod/mp3 player that has this socket? Asking because there is cable connected to the setup in my car and the owner told me to plug an ipod like this to play music from it. So if anyone has one you are not using, and willing to sell, please let me know. I dont want the cable just the ipod with this socket.

    Talk about it!

The Sri Lankan version of car ownership summarized:

    1. Find the car that would make the neighbors' jealous, ticks all the boxes as per your drinking buddies and allows the wife to brag to her friends.

    2. Pay unnecessarily high amount for afore mentioned car. But do NOT transfer it to your name.

    3. Find out the previous owner has sold you a lemon at the first service - hate the service guy for mentioning that the car has met with a massive accident never go to that service station again.

    4. Dress it up - but give zero sh*ts about it's drive train. Do the cheap stuff like waxing and washing so much so it looks like Cher with all the make up in the world.  Skip services, use the cheapest replacement parts but make sure you have a cover for your remote key so that it does not have a single scratch. Invest in the most nasally devastating air freshener. Keep rolling back your odo at each service.

    5. Brag about fuel figures - make your co workers jealous. Brag how you went from Malabe to Kataragama and your car did 34 KMPL over a bottle of Gal Arrack. Make sure your conversation precedes any discussions about Kusal Mendis's batting average.

    6. When the car starts giving the first signs of trouble - get it shown to a makabass ideally someone who is recommended by Roshan who is in the tuk-stand closest to your house.

    7. Ask the makabass to patch it up. No expensive fixes. 'Malli just make the error go away'. Malli will reset the errors. Patch up any existing issues. Thank god you did not transfer the car to your name.

    8. Do a nice wax up job - post an ad : tell them the previous owner is your brother in law and you never bothered to transfer. Wait for Jayantha who is a buy-and-sell-guy from Kohuwala to haggle for  a few hours and buy it from you and make the problem someone else's.

    The process repeats.

For reference..if this is a 1998...then we are looking at a facelift V20 series Windom. The prefacelift had slightly different lights and grill garnish. Most of the updates were for the frame and suspension.

Engine wise it would have the 2MZ-FE with an A54x series transmission. Both of which come in the V6 Camry (Camry Garcia) MCV21. As far as I kno most of the Camries imported to SL were 2.2L variants.

in the ad it said 1998 but I dont know if he meant the registered here. I havent seen the book yet.

  10. Bumping an old thread because I'm about to buy a 98 Windom. 2.4lre V6 Automatic. Does the camry or any other car come with the same engine? Where do all the Windom owners source parts from?
