Maybe @PreseaLover is the one spamming the forums with these love spells from Europe 🤣
-
@Gummybr he’s trying to help with the dollar crisis by destroying big pharma 😅

It's been 1.5 years since I have never driven a car yet. Plan is to get my german license and a car in 2026. Will come back then
-
Going to get an Audi 80 Convertible. Going to pull that sri lankan baiya out and ask the owners "dan athey 750$ thiyenawa mokada kiyanne 750$ karamuda, dan arang yanawa" for a 5000$ car.

So far spotted a Nissan March and a Familia 323 here in Germany. Wonder how they source parts for these 1 off cars here. So many lovely looking 90's Mazda convertibles around
-
If anyone wants BMW or MERC parts let me know. I moved to Germany. Rare parts can easily be found here

@PerfMad don't know about the Ssangyongs but Koreans particularly Kias - enjoy a decent run in Europe. 7 year warranty is quite attractive for them.

@PreseaLoverfr tho, how much did you sell it for?
-
I have a pair of OSRAM Nightbreaksers for Sale if anyone wants.
-
Ok Guys.. Bought a Mark 2, 30th Anniversary Edition. If you see a K numbered GX100 on the road, thats me

@PerfMadyeah paid 1 million more and bought the best. The seller told if you are buying a mark 2 I should by the best, otherwise whats the point. I said f**k yeah why not and bought the most expensive one advertised
-
Sold the Birdy.. Now looking for a Presea or a Vista again. Mark 2's are overpriced. I dont believe in spending a single that much over vehicles that are 20 years old.

Ever got the feeling that you will never sell your car but after sometime you really wanna sell it off to buy something else? Yes, im a cold hearted car prick like that

I am convicned that you get your thrill from hunting down cars and negotiating for it followed on by the obsessive compulsiveness <and I mean this in a good way> to get it better than how you found it.
So far..you have not found a car that gives you a kick more than the above (and you probably never will)...
Okay...so..thanks for giving us a heads-up on this..we will start to mentally prepare ourselves to endure the 101 threads/status updates that will be coming up.

Whats the difference between different types of ECU's of the same engine model? For example the SR18DE Bluebird U13 has 2 different ECU types with the lable AT and AL labelled in it, and im trying to figure out does both of these would work in the same car?
-
Where are the other experts that used to be in AL few years back. Even threads are not moving now, Doesnt anyone do any projects anymore?
-
Cars sales are not that active I suppose......so the crowd asking if a 5 year old 8mil Premio is better than a 6 year old 7.5mil 3 series are gone.
I suppose COVID restricted the freedom of movement needed to go to garages and stuff and the economy has put a damper on parts purchasers etc...so projects are sort of on the low down too ?
All we seem to get is the occasional tech question or two.
-
Had about 2 rough years being busy. Always planning I should do a review in the AL, but those were like balloon ideas. Love for cars never faded, and feels lucky that I have returned with more and more experiences.
Just like everyone said, with the situation, highly doubt about changing a vehicle other than just keeping it and doing the maintenance.

After going to find parts I realized how many SR20 engines are available in Sri Lanka. I mean every damn spare part shop has a SR20 engine. I thought that was rare. One day down the line when my engine wears off, I wanna swap it with an SR20. Do you think its a direct fit with the SR18 mounts?
-
Just do it
Yes....I beleive the mounts are a direct fit. If I am not mistaken the main difference (where the body is concerned) between the 18 and 20 is the bore size....so things like mounts should fit. Also, since there was a version of the U13 that came with the SR20, that just confirms it a bit more. Even if not, I am sure you could get something fabricated or get the mounts off of a U13 that came with a SR20 (might have to be brand new as these thigns are pretty rare now).
I am pretty sure there might be others who have done it...especially down under...or at least a Kiwi or two...so check around.

Finally found the damn Idle sensor from Panchi. Man these spare part prices I dont know how can an average man survive buying a 25 year old car with such high maintenance cost. Only 1 place had the part and so bought it for 15k.
-
This is why
1. old cars are quite crap because there comes a point where owners cannot find or afford to buy proper parts so they jimmy rig solutions.
2. standard models of cars like the E90/E100 Corolla, B12/B13 Sunny are so popular. Being global models that were really popular, there are still cars that are available for stripping around the world and cheap parts manufacturers and parts re-furbishers still have a decent market to cater to.

Just realized the only 2 colours that looks good on the ARX is the normal light silver like the one I have and black. Nothing else. so 10 years down the line I'll paint it black.

Taking the car to the 6th mechanic today, hope at least he identified and fixes my car idle issue.

Though my viper blades are good, when it rains and when the vipers brush the water out there is this mistyness on my windscreen. Are there any special cleaning that should be done to the windscreen?
-
Could be that some oily residue is on your windscreen. Sometimes service stations put their glass cleaner on which is not very good and then it is made worst by them using contaminated spray bottles and dirty cloths/paper-wipes/etc...The other thing is that your wiper blades might have some oily residue from a trim/rubber restorer on it. Try using a good glass cleaner and see if it helps. If not, you find windscreen polish/compound (do not use normal compound yourself as you will scratch the glass). Once you use the windscreen polish/compound and are confident that it is all cleared up, you might want to use somethinglike Glaco (a glass coating which technically anyone with arms, a hand and half a brain can do at home but charged an arm and leg by so called "professionals" in Sri Lanka).
Also, give your wiper blades a good clean. When you say your wiper blades are good, I am assuming that they are neither falling apart nor have hardened and dried up

Last night dream: I was kidnapped by SL Buyya's Association. They wanted me to front their party and said I'm a huge asset, so wanted me to join them. Tied me up and beat me and said I really need to join them.

Since I don't know if the low fuel indicator light is working in my car thought of testing this by driving until the car stops if it doesnt indicate. Filled a 1.5litre bottle of fuel and having it in the trunk just in case as the car is supposed to stop on the way tomorrow while driving to a wedding.
-
1. Is 1.5L enough to get you anywhere ? Should have used a small jerry can
2. What kind of a bottle are you using ? Bottles like plastic Coke bottles start melting when you leave petrol in it for a long time ...so you storing petrol in it is essentially spoling the petrol by having plastic dissolve in to it.
