  1. Davy, That's not the engine number. I have attached a photo of it. It says GI-S4FF. Good news ! Found the engine number! Didn't want to remove the exhaust mainfold heat shield. Basically the engine number is located on the right side of the engine. You have to keep your eye just above the radiator cap and look into the mid section of the engine just off the right side mid section of the exhaust mainfold heat shield. There is a window you need to see through it. Herewith I have attached some photos, forgive me for the bad lighting, and the engine # is in a very tight space for you to see
  2. My vehicle has sort of a problem; that it got duplicate vehicle registration book since the time I bought the vehicle, apparently the previous owner also had duplicate registration book. But so far no troubles from the RMV. If there were to be any funny business with the vehicle previously, I should have known by now already since the vehicle is registered for 5 years under my name. Could it be that this vehicles' engine was replaced previously and it doesn't have an engine number or was scratched off?? Or could it be I can't simply see the engine number?? Does the manifacturer hide the engine number from the view , so that special effort should be paid to obtain the engine number
  3. Just now I removed that exhaust cover, but I couldn't see a number behind that cover, then again the exhaust unit is blocking from view some areas of the engine. Seems like I have to take the vehicle to a garage to remove the exhaust unit first and see it. My vehicle
  4. Is the exhaust mainfold the one attached to the engine with a don't touch (hand with a cross sign) on it? I between the engine block and the radiator?
  5. Hi all, I was unable to locate the engine number physically on the engine body. Does anyone know where to look for? The vehicle is for sale, but when a potential buyer comes, he/she looks for the engine number on the engine and can't locate anything and leave without a result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Ah my bad! Yes, in Akarawita. I did try Jayasinha auto one time, but they couldn't find the problem. Good idea to check the tire size. my problem is I work abroad and whenever I go home, I have lots of previous commitments to attend to. Anyway, thanks for suggestions.
  7. Hi all, My wife is nagging me about buying her a small hatch back type car. My budget is 1.2 million. Below are the requirements; 1. Transmission must be Auto 2. 1999 or later According to my research I found only Nissan march K11 (1998 - 2001) model, which fits my budget and requirements. I have a normal size car (Mitsubishi Cedia 1300CC GQ number). I work abroad and don't do much driving in Sri Lanka, though I have plans to return in another two years. What do you guys suggest; should I sell my Mitsubishi and get my wife nissan march? or else should I keep both? Her intention is to get use to handle the nissan march and finally sell it before the end of the year and use my Mitsubishi. Although my friends suggest that I sell/trade my Mitsubishi and get her a Nissan and buy me something later on once I settle in Sri Lanka. Do you guys know any other decent hatchback type cars with auto transmission within my budget except nissan march?
  8. Good electrical mechanic in Gampaha: Indika - Kirindivita (Just 150 m from the Kirindivita cemetry, when you drive from Gampaha (Gampa - Jaela road) Anyway, does anybody know a good mechanic for mechanical troubleshooting of vehicles in Gampaha? I have a mitsubishi Cedia 1.3L and it drives fine, But when you take a 90 degree corner to the right there is a creeking noise just above the front left tire. when you drive straight or take slight turns there is no problem. When you look between the front left tire and the body above there is a gap, yet you see some scrataches mark just above the tire. Showed to several mechanics, with no result.
