1. Did you consider the jetta 2008/09. Its newer and looks more fresh. Got the same 1.9tdi motor. Has a decent reputatuon apart from the dual mass flywheel/clutch. Of course the price is a tad higher..
2. Obviously thats what a forum is for.. there are also sub divisions within a forum called 'threads' where ppl of similar 'interests' flock together and voice out their differing opinions and ideas. In this thread, interests are a world apart..there are guys who are passionate about cars who came to read on bmw 320ds(keep in mind the topic of this thread) and then they have to put up with some 2c molli crap (from ppl who just want an A to B car at minimal cost) And about vezels.. im going to stop making the mistake of feeding more sh*t on this thread;)
3. Okay kavvz.. humble apologies to all those who provided this thread with these invaluable statements..and a special apology to the 'waterboy' Secondly..are u kidding?? No Way the vezel is sh*t..its more Common than that. Lastly the forums a waste of time because our philosophists with their contradictary opinions were never supposed to be in the same forum or anywhere near each other to begin with..
4. Was eager to read this thread thinking its on bmws.. only to be lured into another kalakanni thread like the 'why vezels are sh*t' thread.

Bmw X1 E84 Diesel

Hi guys, Bringing up the bmw x1 sdrive 20d 2011/12 for discussion. It has been around for awhile now but hasnt been discussed since the 'big vote'. (Somehow in spite of the negative vote there seems to be more x1 than e90 on the road;) Anyway would like to know 1) if there are any common issues with this.. 2) how its faring in our conditions..(heard the rides a bit rough) 3) were all the permit imports the 177bhp variant 20d? 3) were there any imports with the x drive (awd).. idrive function..and any manual transmissions by any chance??
6. Theres only a handful of diesels. Facelift diesels are rarer than the petrols..probably because there were no permits issued during that time so people had to settle for the petrols due to high diesel tax. Btw is your one a 'bmw individual'? there were a couple of custom ordered ones..so you might ve got luckier!
7. Congrats on your buy. The true facelift e46 diesel is pretty rare here.. If its a manual tranny u ve got yourself a pretty nice ride there! The extra power and refinement is very welcome compared to the little aging pre-facelift 320d. Since these were not permit cars they came with higher trim levels too. I ve heard of the swirl flap issue..the power drop is not supposed to be that significant.. so i guess the benefit of blanking the swirl flaps outweights the cons. Anyway keep us updated on new improvements and enjoy your ride.

Guys I bought a bmw 320d 2002 facelift with m47n engine which has run around 100k miles on the clock. I wanted to see whether the previous owner did the swirl flap blanking which he has not done yet.
I want to know has any one done that on there cars does it affect the performance or economy..
and where can I get it done and how much will it cost. Thanks in advance

Vw Jetta

Yup wil check with s*nok.. Have u dealt with them or privately? How is their service and rates? Is it a bad idea to continue maintenence privately? these oil changes.. how much did it cost roughly? mobil synthetic is around 10.5k..what about the filters and labor? Ya some oil burning is expected.. But you havent mentioned any suspension, joints or steering rack issues though..thats some pretty watchful driving for 95k! Ok i cant hold it now..what on earth was ur car pls?!?

Ok..thanks alot for ur time mate. How was the vehicle approaching 100000k? Pulling power, burning oil etc? the thing is the vehicles i ve seen are topping 100000k but with regular maintenence. Is that mileage a significant bite off this engine? Ive heard of guys who ve done 300k+ on diesel VWs but thats not in SL.. (Gettin more curious as to what ur vehicle was:)

Nice to hear some positivity;) So your motor is a 1.9tdi non commonrail is it? Whats ur vehicle btw n which year? Any idea if the 2008 jetta im talkin of is powered by the same unit? I thought it was a commonrail. Whats the fuel you ve been using super diesel or regular? Any fuel pump issues to date? This guy says hes servicing at senok every 10000km. He doesn t know the oil used but says its done at senok. Probably hes using some synthetic oil but isnt it a long interval for a dieael? Whats the oil u use and the frequency of oil changes? whats the mileage on urs?

Hi guys, Bringing up this old thread to discuss the volkswagen jetta 2008 1.9 diesel manual permit spec. Ive been looking for a manual compact sedan within the 3.0mil range and came across one of these. I prefer a jap..but would like to get u guys opinion on this. Besides being rare, having poor resale and blah blah.. 1.Want to know if this is a good vehicle overall and the major issues with it? 2.How badly are the fuel pumps and suspension coping in our conditions? 3.is it significantly more troublesome compared to a jap or other euros? I guess sourcing parts is not that a big issue as before..and mechanics are also somewhat competent. In brief, if im prepared to overlook resale value..how good a option is it compared to say a similar condition civic fd4 in terms of Reliability and Running cost? Thanks
13. Yeah.. its too bad manuals are getting extinct in SL. Weirdly even amongst the younger crowd..in spite of being cheaper, fun to drive and easier to maintain. Its not so in the uk.. I agree with u on the fact that i should focus on the maintenence and history. Mechanicals is THE main priority. Actually i dont usually give a damn about vehicle color..its just the reds i find difficult to digest;p anyway i ll rethink it.
14. Oh thats interesting..its a very small number for a civic which is generally a drivers car aint it? Btw hope i didnt offend u on the color;) Ok..so then it might even be having the same engine head. Thats good. U havent tried doing any mods on ur motor? Btw have u driven the 1.8 to compare the dynamics?
