  1. if you are considering buying the car with cash, please consider the depreciation on the cars that will occur during the time that you use the car. Also before buying a car, get an inspection report done on the car. Cheers
  2. yes, I contacted the agents, they appear to have no clue about the car or what they are selling. I was curious because of the implications this could have on the prices cars with similar technology such as the i8 and the s500 plug in hybrid. This will certainly affect the market value of similar models and others models that already exist in the market.
  3. does anyone have any solid information regarding this?
  4. im not sure of what you mean by "tempered", i think what u meant was tampered? It is normally extremely difficult to find out if the odometer has been altered. If the car shows a lot of wear and tear on the steering wheel, the seats and other parts of the car with a very low mileage reading, the odometer may have been tampered with. This is definitely not a fool proof way of finding out if the odometer has been tampered with. My recommendation would be to put the car into place like C*R CH*E*KS or the agent of the car, e.g.: if it is a toyota, T*YOTA L*N*A. It will cost around 7000 rupees or so and it may be cheaper or more depending on the agent. They will inspect the car for any damages, accident repairs and other things you should know about the car and provide you with a report, I hope i was of some help to you Cheers
  5. Thanks for the valuable input, it was greatly appreciated. Page
  6. Sorry for bringing up this old thread, i didn't feel the need to spam the forums with a new thread, I would like to know if the law of having tint front driver side and front passenger side windows is still valid as of today, thank you, page
  7. what you really need to consider here is depreciation. According to what i think, I have a feeling that spending for the same model will mean that the more expensive car will depreciate more since i have seen 2011 vitz 3rd generation vehicles going at 2.9 to 3 mil used. If you can preferably go for a 2012 or 2013 for around 3.1 to 3.3, it would be more advisable as the car would depreciate significantly less. However its your money and at the end of the day it comes down to what you exactly want and not what someone on on this forum tells you. Good luck with your decision and i hope that everything works out fine.
  8. having personally owned an e36, its an extremely enjoyable car to drive. It is quite comfortable but considering the age of the car, you will have to set aside some time and money to look after the car. These cars are not considerably costly to maintain, its just that they require a lot of time and dedication to keep it running well. If you are buying one, get it inspected my milord first, if its good buy it, and then use it for a couple of months before making the decision to restore the car, otherwise sell it if u feel that its too much work for you and it is too costly. Good luck with your search Mike
  9. I found an ad on ###### for a two toyota vitz 2013, with a price of 3.1 negotiable, so you should be able to pick it up for around 3. The cars were blue and pink. I think the ad was from Colombo 7. If are considering this, look up the ad on ######. Please insist on an agent inspection which will only cost you 7k which is totally worth it in opinion. A toyota will have a good resale value in sri lanka if you buy it at the correct price and the older vitz models have held up extremely well over the past 5 years. Just sharing some food for thought. Please understand that this is based on my opinion and understanding on the whole car industry. Page Cheers
  10. I saw a couple of toyota aquas (2012) for around a little over 3 million, however they are hybrids and they don't seem to depreciate, as long as u buy it around this price. I think the stingray which is a kei car is around 2.7. Unfortunately, finding a non hybrid that is unregistered at this price point that is of Japanese origin seems to be impossible and i can't seem to think of any vehicle that would fit your budget. My recommendation would be to try and search for a registered car, if your budget is not flexible. As pointed out by other members in this forum on older threads, a used car must be chosen with careful consideration and caution. I hope i was of some help to you, Cheers, Page
  11. I agree with YALA. I am so sorry to hear about your story. I can only imagine the headaches you must have gone through with this. If you don't mind, could you please share the name of the insurance company as I feel it would be beneficial for all of us.
  12. Yes, it will be imported by them by around October, towards the end of the year. It will apparently retail between 3 and 4 mil. They are currently setting up the infrastructure and the facilities required for the cars. Cheers
