Any safety concerns of using Hydrogen ?

Fuel cell = Hydrogen ?? please elaborate.

Daily I am driving up and down to Colpetty though Kandy road, Kelani Bridge and Baseline road for work. I the evenings I see lot prime movers ( container carriers) passing around Grandpass, Baseline road creating long waits for office traffic moving out Colombo. If anyone here happened to observe that ? I think it is ridiculous that SLPA is not using its dedicated railway line for transporting these containers in/out to some transfer station away from the congested roads. This move could save lot of time , money and reduce air pollution by many time.

Hi Folks, Any updates on the changes to the vehicle import duties in coming budget ? Specially the small and medium cars. It seems government is no longer promoting electric cars. At least government should encourage more environmentally friendly transport options. High volumes of slow moving office/ school traffic incur heavy loss to the country's economy in each day. I wonder why this simple maths can not be understood by policymakers ? Last year government claimed that there are too many cars on road, so it should come down. But they didn't come up with anything effective on upgrading public transport, increasing capacities of roads reaching Colombo ( kandy road, highlevel road, galle road) or finding alternative routes. Please share your information Thank You

According to your answer , prius is using its electrical motor for compensating the power loss due to lower compression . How about if there is no charge in hybrid battery ?

well.. u mean original Atkinson Cycle engine design was a failure due to more moving parts ? correct ? Modified Atkinson Cycle engine => VVTi in toyotas ? correct ? It is not clear to me what you meant by "so energy is saved in moving the piston compared to a normal otto cycle due to the smaller distance it has to travel"

This is a country which has nor long term vision neither long term planning. Heading with abrupt planning, PM doesn't know what FM doing, President doesn't know what PM and FM doing. At the end everyone of us have to pay the bill who ever comes to the power. It is the high time SL needs a well planned sustainable solution for this ever growing transport problem. For an example,road network connecting the greater Colombo was built more than four decades ago. This system has been over loaded long time ago. Current average speed in Colombo city limits is 12 Km/h. Regardless of type of vehicle you are taking, more time is spent on lagging on the road. I hope you can imagine the loss to the country's economy and damage to the environment due to longer idling times and frequent accelerations. Top on this it is ridiculous why government is still discouraging more economical and environmental friendly options such as hybrid and electric vehicles, why policies are not updated to encourage the heavy vehicles run by LNG. It is pretty clear government is running out the foreign reserves. But its not the right option to fix it by passing the burden on general public.

I used to by Toyota spares from MM few years back, since I personally know one of the owners. But he is no longer there now. Most of the consumable type parts are not directly coming from plants in Toyota. Once I went to buy the cabin air filter, they said they get both. But Japanese make one is almost twice the price of the genuine one (genuine parts can be made some other party under the inspection of Toyota)

All small Indian Suzuki cars are fuel efficient due to its low power and torque. In my personnel experience, Maruti 800 CC does 18-20 km/litre in long distance with two passengers and A/C . Alto K10 - 1000 CC does 16-17 in long distance with two passengers and A/C. But you may have to switch off your A/C in a quick overtake with full load. Few tips are, I always fuel Euro 3 in long distance driving ( more power over normal 92 Octane), change the air filters in every 5000 km ( may use for higher mileage but it depends on which part of the country you are driving) and use low friction high end engine oils ( lot of people use cheap mineral oils, but it has a huge effect on the fuel efficiency) Make sure clutch is in good shape
