    Guys, what is the shelf life of an oil filter?

      For starters it depends on how it was stored....if high moisture didn't get to it along with dust and rats then you are off to a good start. Manufacturers "claim" that with time the internal medium starts decaying and the filter loses its optimal filtration ability. Thus, most manufacturers indicate a 2-3 year shelf life. But to be honest I don't think anyone really knows...

    What if I be a cheapskate and use my leftover car engine oil (10W30, API SN, 6 months lying in the container) for my 125CC Bajaj? (Bajaj recommends 20W40)

      Well its not totally useless. Its so you don't rev the engine and generally drive like a mad man, till the cold engine indicator turns off...not as good as a proper temp gauge of course, but still, better than nothing...

      Yep as Kavvz mentioned its to indicate if the coolant has warmed up

      @Jor-el The Vios does not have a temperature gauge, it only has a blue led to indicate a cool engine, and a red led to indicate an overheating engine.

    Oil Filter for CS3 can be bought from ebay for Rs.1080 while UM charge 2100 for the same part... (pack of 10 tho)
