  1. If you are referring to C****na wheel alignment in Katana Negombo, that guy knows his stuff. Two so called alignment centers with modern machines (after trying several times) couldn’t fix the issue in my cab. Guy at C****na did manual alignment and the pulling to one side and uneven tyre wear was solved.
  2. Personally imported vehicles should be registered in the importers name.
  3. Heard A*W is going to start importing Leaf and will be selling them with a solar charging system. Does anyone has any information regarding this?
  4. Got one from them about an year ago and is still working fine after about 200 pellets. They had air rifles ranging from Rs 8K to 250K+. You can get a decent one for about 30K and they do all the registration part. The company is called Th**** Guns. Can’t give directions since I’m not familiar with the area but have the address from the bill if anyone wants
  5. If you are earning a salary, bank will not ask for a security. They will take an undertaking from the employer to get the salary to them to recover the loan instalment. Check these links to get an idea about the rates http://www.combank.net/newweb/rates-tariffs/lending-rates http://web.boc.lk/index.php?route=rates/rates http://www.peoplesbank.lk/depositrates/mainc2 http://www.sampath.lk/sampath_files/iraFTP/advances.pdf http://www.nsb.lk/Lending_rates.php
  6. Even the buyer pays the lease on time, if you go to a bank for a new loan, they will consider the lease rental commitment as a financial obligation of yours and might reject the loan saying too much financial commitments as banks will not usually exceed 40%(or 60% not sure) of income as loan payments
  7. If you take a personal loan from a bank you might not need to mortgage the vehicle to the bank since the loan is given based on the salaried income. Therefore if you want to sell or change the vehicle later it will be easier. You might also be able to take more than 60% of vehicle value (even 100%) since the bank will not be taking the vehicle as security but the bank might ask to send your salary to them and request a undertaking from your employer to continue sending the salary to them.
  8. If you take a lease for a registered vehicle an additional 12% of VAT will be added to the rental. Therefor best option is a loan or a higher purchase.
  9. Totally agree with Supra_Natural Fixing an exhaust fan might also be a good option (if it is practical for the place) if you are trying to lower the room temperature during the night time. I have fixed one to my bed room (DIY)(since I can’t afford a AC ) and can feel a definite temperature drop when I enter the room after about 9.00-9.30 p.m. Cons - During day time I do not notice any difference, tend to become unbearably cold in early mornings during cold days

  11. Forgot this If the vehicle belongs to Luxury or Semi Luxury category see to that the relevant taxes are paid up to date. Otherwise you will have to pay all the pending taxes prior to transfer. If you can go to RMV you can obtain the tax details quite easily. Insurance guys might also be able to check since they are collecting on behalf of RMV
  12. Got these extracted from MOTOR TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT)ACT, NO. 8 OF 2009 http://www.motortraffic.gov.lk/web/images/stories/document/act_no%2008of2009_en.pdf Hope it will help you in your decision (5) Any person who submits an application for registration, which contains a forged signature or is accompanied by forged documents shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not less than ten thousand rupees and not exceeding fifteen thousand rupees. ”. “(2) On the change of possession of a motor vehicle upon a voluntary transfer made by the registered owner — (a) the registered owner shall, within fourteen days after such change of possession — (i) transmit direct to the Commissioner General either by registered post or personal delivery, the duly perfected prescribed Form A ; and (ii) shall deliver to the new owner the duly perfected prescribed Forms B, B1, C and C1, the Certificate of Registration relating to the motor vehicle or a duplicate thereof, and the revenue licence of that motor vehicle, and shall retain the duly perfected prescribed Form A1 as proof of change of possession ; ( such motor vehicle shall not be used at any time after fourteen days of such change of(3) (a) A registered owner who fails to inform the Commissioner-General of the change of possession within fourteen days shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not less than three thousand rupees and not exceeding six thousand rupees. ( The new owner of a motor vehicle who fails to apply within fourteen days after change of possession to be registered as the new owner shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not less than one hundred rupees for each day after the fourteenth day up to the forty fourth day of such failure. © The new owner of a motor vehicle who fails to apply within forty four days after change of possession to be registered as the new owner shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not less than five thousand rupees and not exceeding ten thousand rupees. (d) A registered owner or a new owner who submits any document which is forged or which contains a forged signature shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not less than ten thousand rupees, and not exceeding fifteen thousand rupees. Further note : If I ever sell a vehicle registered in my name I will definitely inform the RMV immediately and see to that it is registered in the new owners name. Reason : if the person possessing the vehicle do some illegal act with it(say hit & run) I will become the first suspect to the act In your case if I were you I would get seller to register the vehicle in his own name before purchasing from him
