IMO great car with good handling ,comfort and smooth performance BUT sourcing spares- even a fuse- in SL will be a nightmare. Not to discourage you but my own experience. -
MG, Chery, Proton vehicles to be assembled in Sri Lanka
wolseley replied to Skyonline's topic in General Automotive
There are number of assembly plants coming up. Mostly for motor cycles and scooters. The govt policy is to encourage the value addition in Sri Lanka so that to set off excise duty proportionate to the value addition. Tyres, battery, seats etc. are locally sourced and in some light trucks bucket and silencer are also manufactured here. There are plans to get down bare body to paint here. So hope this policy stay for a while to establish an industry. -

It was a brougham actually but the badge was 'Cedigham' imported by agent for a minister. -

I really agree with Magnum. Y33 was the most comfortable car I have ever used. It does not matter how long the journey when you are in it. But to mention ground clearance is quite low so that you hardly can go out of tarmac. The following was taken near Kotmale Area about 7 years back. Isn't she a beauty? -

KIA Sportage 2011 vs Toyota RAV4 2009
wolseley replied to malith piyumal's topic in General Automotive
No experience about KIA but as an user of 2009 RAV4 it is a very reliable machine for me and comfort of course OK. Fuel economy is about 8- 11 depending on the traffic but for an engine of 2.4 it's fair enough as to my opinion. Great pulling but not very fancy interior though. This is purely my views -
Here we go. In this model car I got my driving test on Ratnapura New Town. Examined by great classic car enthusiast late Mr. Tilney L Peiris.😊

When it comes to genuine parts I can recommend AISIN and SEIKEN brake components from the two famous importers from Panchikawatte since I've seen the original shipping docs coming from Japan. sorry if I am violating any forum rules here.

@matroska and other friends Thank you for all your comments. The location was actually in front of the food court at Madiwela before you turn to Pamunuwa road. The colour is Mazda 35Y It was originally as of Matroska's but facelifted.

Hey Matroska. It’s nice to see another EP71 user in the forum. I’ve been using one since 2007. Though I have used one EP82 and couple of EP91s the Boxy was the one fascinated me most so I was eyeing for a one for some time. Since my preference was a two door car with reasonable body shape finally settled for an EP76 van for 475000. Sadly cars of those kinds are now in the hands of people who couldn’t afford for the required maintenance. So mine was of the same. Bringing in it to a standard of my choice was actually a painful and time and consuming job but I enjoyed every step of that. So I hope we can share the experiences in restoration. Happy motoring in a nippy starlet Cheers

2008 Daihatsu Mira Engine Oil Reducing
wolseley replied to Lasantha R.M.'s question in Mechanical problems
Check for blue/white smoke at acceleration. It might be due to worn valve seals. -
AFAIK there is no solution other than replacing, if it is an issue for you. There are enough mirrors available at used parts dealers for common jap vehicles.

What is the different between published value and the CIF(Rs)
wolseley replied to Osal T's question in Car Buying Information
Duty is no longer based on the value. It is now basically levied upon the engine capacity but there are complications though. Best thing to ask from Customs car branch giving exact info such as model and year.
