  1. He said the plates had worn out.
  2. UPDATE: X-1R trick held up for about three weeks. The slipping rate kept increasing a bit by bit until I decided to take it to Nilwala motors. He gave a fix (Free of charge since he had done some work earlier on this) and now its as good as new. Conclusion : Agreeing with The Stig, X-1R works for a limited time.
  3. Ok. I dumped a bottle of the oil yesterday night and let it settle overnight. Not sure what kind of a sorcery this is, the problem is 85% gone. Well that is more than enough considering the slipping I had previously. Lets see how long this can hold up. Thanks again The Stig.
  4. I'll give it a shot and update here.
  5. Remembered your thread about transmission slip/jerk when hot. It happens to me when cold now and the car is similar BJ5P.
  6. Yeah Postage is outrageous. Does the Lucas agent bring anything else than batteries?
  7. Thanks Stig. I found it online and very appealing. Only thing is they dont brag about stop slipping as Lucas does. Do you have an experience with this?
  8. Guys, does anyone know a place to buy Lucas Transmission Fix? (in SL)

    MAZDA BJ5P AWD

I think after certain speed or less stressful situation like freely going down a hill, all 4 wheels are not powered. But I'm not quite mechanically sound to confirm this.

Nothing abnormal really. Apart from what I mentioned in the cons. Gearbox is bit bigger and stronger than the normal BJ5P. Stick with it and you may even not like FWD cars anymore.
  11. FInd a good Mazda Axela or 3. Its the bang for the buck.

Power is available at all four wheels almost all the time. Benefits - Better handling, acceleration without rear dunking, better grip, better front rear weight distribution. (And CV joints gets less strain as well) Cons - Heavier, bit higher fuel consumption against 2WD, more parts to maintain, used to be harder to sell because for many fuel consumption is the key factor to buy a car. Fuel figures are pretty good.
  13. A reason to loose fluid within a short time could even be something simple like deteriorated brake washer. Try the repair kit if you don't have any other reason to have the full caliper.
  14. Difficult to find because of its special size. Try shops in WIjerama junction if you haven't tried already. Was able to find a caliper repair kit from there.
  15. I second the overhaul option. Cold slipping happened to me on BJ5P and first it was fixed by ATF replacement with valve body cleaning. Few months later I had to go for overhaul because different gears started slipping. Particularly the 3rd.
  16. Its Familia with AWD. And 75w90 was poured to the rear diff. Im also not sure about OP's ride where standard oil could be too thin. If nobody knows (agents, friends or a reliable source) what oil should be used for his diff, he can use the standard and check regularly to see if the oil burns by overheating. (which I did)
  17. I used 75w90 for a Familia. When I wanted to change oil, found that the previous owner had run it only having gunk in the diff let alone oil. 75w90 worked fine for me with no change in color or viscosity when I checked regularly..
  18. Should be possible with a low volume of transmission oil. It wouldn't function perfectly but not good for the internal parts regarding lubrication and heat dispersing. But yeah, no oil no go.
  19. Yes. The other small percentage is not electrified yet because it's not commercially viable. I.e Two families live in a hill top and it needs 10 electric posts to power up there.
  20. Yes. I'm not sure the new net metering has the capability of that. Maybe someone can explain.
  21. SL is quite self sufficient with electricity compared to other countries in the region and the base demand is from hydro. It is actually advantages to utilize the excess hydro electricity that we generate during non peak hours to charge cars. Most of our hydro plants are unable to dynamically vary the production and car battery is a good way to store some of it. Yes, as a system we are not yet ready because the electricity unit price is the same regardless day or night.
  22. You are underestimating the local talent. They make the structure in plain steel wires and then use cardboard to support. After touching with sand paper and little paint, its almost indistinguishable. Find a good 'wada karaya' if you fail at other options.
  23. It happened to me and the insurance covered the full amount for audio player, broken plastic etc. I think generally they cover the passenger cars.
