  1. OK Nuwan, so you caught us red handed. Yes we are car dealers. (I assume you did not read my second post) Selling existing cars at a higher or may I say at the revised rate won't benefit us in the long run (will be a short win for sure) So can you kindly lend us a helping hand by explaining how we as car dealers can maximize our profit with the sudden change of Tax rate?
  2. Wonder if "Mareena" shock absorber fellows will be able to fill up the gas for your struts.
  3. Schiffer, one of my customer stated he needs a loan to purchase a jeep. Got the process sorted and disbursed the funds. Later he shows up...... Guess what? A Vezzel. He says " meka maru jeep ekak. Kilometre ekakata 25k karanawa. I nodded my head acting as if I don't even process a driving license. One month later bugger says. "Meke 4WD nedda danne nehe ne crishan? Aiyo salli I thought to my self. This is the current state thanks to car dealers.
  4. Are you that stupid to go upto the maximum amount allowed out of your salary just to buy a "hybrid" to show off your neighbours? Pathetic man. You are just like my neighbour who drives a Allion which is more expensive than the house he lives in. Sheesh. Some are trying so hard to make a mark in the society with their ride. You are not saving any thing for a rainy day but for a car? Did you check with the Customs dept? Last time when the rates were increased it did not effect importers who have opened the LC prior budget. Edit: pls don't tell us that you are importing a Vezzel
  5. is it a four door white colour car? Any way I assume you are buying this as a daily driver to work or looking at an option of investing your year end bonus? ?
  6. Crosswind, 800K is a good price for a automatic starlet even with a duplicate CR.
  7. If these said exporters are so cheap to even cheat with the insurance, just imagine the quality of the vehicle you will receive.
  8. That's true Don. Any way it is better to get the fly wheel also checked. Once my insight halted and I had to take it to the agents on a carrier and had to replace the fly wheel. As per the service manager Ajith, fly wheel issue seems to come up in Insight and City models.
  9. How did you get to know about the status of the battery? First get it checked by Stafford and then decide. ramishkad has explained several times on how to check the performance of it. You may refer the following link. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/16461-honda-civic-hybrid-fd3/
  10. Who says there are issues? Did a fit owner him self commented? As ramishkad has said, go the Stafford and get the battery + car checked. Might cost 5K. Call them and find out.
  11. Guess you are referring to the advertisement posted in AL. If so one is 1300cc. Will it have enough pulling power comparing power to weight ratio?
  12. "logistic issue" eh? Does not this give away their intentions? Signing a blank paper. (So many possibilities) 1) You accept to settle if additional/hidden charges incur. 2) You accept what ever the vehcile they will offer you (with lesser options)
  13. You're 100% correct JB. I use this road pretty often to go from Wattala to Kelaniya. I have no words to describe these type of stupid drivers who speed at nearly 60-70 KMPH in this narrow road (as I heard this guy was doing nearly 180) Be careful AL members, you don't have to make a mistake, but a stupid person who was able to get hold of some money recently to purchase a car/any vehicle for that matter can knock you & make your life a miserable one. Better the import tax to be increased to reduce all these new D*MO batta's, 3 wheel's & other stupid people gaining access to the roads. Any way RIP to the girl!
  14. Aren’t they emphasising much on Pod filters?
  15. Sorry for pulling up this old thread as this will be the only way I can clarify this question which was pondering in my mind for some time. MkX, since you have been using a filter for sometime, can you kindly enlighten me on the durability & performance of the K&N Filter when compared to the genuine filters? I'm thinking of getting down a K&N Air Filter for my Honda Insight.
  16. Idle RPM? Also is this a car you bought recently? I too had this prob with my Starlet after the engine tuning guys messed with the acceleration.
  17. Not sure whether this is the the same place I'm referring to, but I hope AL Mods will allow me to post the full name in order to help other fellow AL members to stay away from this shop. Name of the shop : 'Tharaka Auto Windscreen (PVT) LTD' Address : 519, High Level Road, Delkanda, Nugegoda. Date of Visit : 22/11/2010 Time of Visit : 2.00pm Tme left the shop : 7.00pm Reason to visit : To service automatic window winders of all four doors of a Toyota Starlet Bill amount : Rs 7150/= Number of employees attended the job : 5 Initial reception was very fine from the shop owner but the service & the final outcome is totally unsatisfactory. Not worth for the money spent on the work. Stay away from this place.
  18. Look mate, I used to own a 1994 Starlet which was owned by four people before me & I did not even spend the amount you have mentioned for repairs at least once a year. You can buy a well maintained hatchback if you look around well. Changing Auction sheets?? Brother, before this big boom in the local car market (2007), couple of well known Importers were dominating the market. They used to do these for years. Some of them have their own vehicle yards in Japan where they repair so called 'R' grade vehicles & export to Sri Lanka. Close your eyes & buy a Panda or Viva Elite. Non Hybrid & does more than 15kmpl isn't it? You're a fool if you listen to those kind of people who spread different kind of rumors about cars. You like a car.... buy one & just drive it.
  19. Why didn't you approach the agents? (TL) My EK3 met with an accident in 2011. I have been doing the regular mintenance in Staff#$d Motors. My car was insured by Cey@#nco. Went starigt to S Motors & the Insuarnce assesor stated that if I purchase parts (Front bumper,Side panel & one head light) from the agent I will have to pay 40% of the value of those parts. The rest of the charges were paid in full, directly to the Agents. No issue at all with the repair. Why I prefer to aproach the Agent is mainly I can blame them if they do an Incomplete job & compared to other garages, they will at least try to get it sorted out. This does not mean the Agent is or will be the best. I too had several bad experiences in different joints.
  20. True with the comments given with regard to the Dunlop tyres. They wear pretty quickly.
  21. Once in Negombo road during rush hour, a deffender & a Prado was horing and making it a big scene to move just behind my car. I just stopped my car,got down, opened the bonnet & acted as if my car has haulted. Was sucessful in keeping them for nearly 1 minute. In another incident, one security personal (who was wearing a white glove & arms out of the vehicle) shouted at me for slowing down, I just said "Umbala api pinata dena salli walin kala beela thawa baninawa....ane yako...."
  22. Highly appreceiate Komi! Saw an advertisment on the Internet a Datsun for sale. Called the guy & his reply was "mama eka vikunanne neha"
  23. Hoonigan, when I click my Personal Messenger an error message appaers stating "You are not allowed to use the private messaging system." I hope Peri can help me to resolve this issue. To answer your question, I'm not fixed only on a KE20, any make or model would do. (Eg: Nissan, Mitsubishi, Ford, Datsun)
  24. Hoonigan, if it's a 2 door I'm up for it. If the body condition is ok I'm fine (Tin body without much putty all over the car). Only problem is my PM is not functioning.
