  1. I have somewhat the same issue. Interested in knowing where you found alloys with a different offset setup. Cause the standard places i checked like Amila and J.. only has one offset set up which is slightly on the positive side.
  2. I buy them from Arp*c*. I have seen a guy selling them at the Horton Place Petrol shed near St. Bridget's and at few spare part shops. Anyway try the super markets. Easy to identify, it's a tree shaped regiform like thing and says car freshner along with what the smell is...
  3. Yeah those tree shaped ones does have a great smell, i use the variants Black Ice and Victory Lane. However, they are good for just about 2 weeks and costs you about 250 bucks if i remember correctly.
  4. Well you could try installing google maps on your E71. I have done that on my S60 and it has proved quite useful even though i dont have GPS in mine. It is very very well detailed in Colombo and in places like Kandy. It has almost all roads named in Colombo and i have been able to explore few new routes in and around dehiwala and mount when going around. I think it will automatically start using your GPS once you install it. Install Google Maps for Mobile.
  5. Well, i äm surprised to hear that you could find a 2006 export corolla for 3 mil. If you could find one, then thats probably a 1300cc manual version. If its the 2004 late and above, the face lift model with the reverse lights on the diki lid, 1500 auto, those are generally in the 3.3 and above range. Yes, if you dont mind the manual which i think is a great idea, it should be a good buy considering the current options in that price range. If its a brand new bought from agents, check about ABS, chances are that its missing. Dont expect the same build quality, and comfort of a JDM.
  6. Well to start with G, X and Luxel grades are JDMs and others are export market cars. Generally JDM's have a high demand. These grades in assending order would be X, G and Luxel. Luxel is the highest version with a 1.8L engine and with added options. However, i have seen only a few in SL. Within X and G also you get different grades like X assista, X Ltd and G Ltd. So leaving out Luxel, G Ltd is the highest grade. It comes with all extras in G plus Xenon lamps. There can be many differences to point out between these grades. G Ltd has as mentioned hight adjustable Xenon lamps, climate control air con, EBD, ABS, teak inserts everywhere and little things like the radio antena intergrated in the rear windshield so that there is no antena visible from outside. Export versions found in SL are either bought brand new in SL or imported from Singapore. I'm not sure though, but i think XLi, GLi are ones from Sri Lanka while LXi and the like are from Singapore. However, these cars are clearly with lesser options than the JDMs and i even saw at one time that what was being sold in SL didnt even have ABS. Also they are priced in the market accordingly. JDMs costs more than the export versions even though they have been adjusted to suit export country's conditions. Cars bought brand new here in SL has hard suspension and high ground clearance while X and G's have soft suspension and low ground clearance. There are lot of grades when it comes to corolla's. I hope this has given you some idea.
  7. Thanks man... It did have some usefull info. According to him, it seems like there is a version with a trip computer.... Great...
  8. Yeah I remember that too.. I think that was with the i-DSI engine and his trip computer saying it’s doing about 20 Kmpl or something... CVT should also be having some impact on that as well if it’s really doing that. However, I haven’t seen a City or Aria at car sales which have trip computers with fuel consumption indicators. That is a bit confusing. I hope someone here knows more about this. However, rather than its fuel consumption figures, what I’m interested in knowing is if there are any maintenance issues with the CVT boxes and general reliability of Honda Fit Aria. I have seen a few Honda City's (Export version) going very cheap compared to its rivals like Toyota Vios. A 2003 vios is about 2.4 or 2.5 mil while asking price for a same period City is much less. Even saw one car for 2.1 mil. I know it depends on the condition of a car, but I’m referring to average prices here. So looks like there will be a big drop in resale price, therefore all aspects should be looked at. Wish there was a reviews section in Autolanka. I know the forums are something that could or rather already being used for this. However, it’s not the easiest/quickest place to find out exact details. There are plenty of international sites where this info is present, but it doesn’t give the true picture for cars that are on our shores in local conditions/factors.
  9. Can you guys give some info on Honda Fit Aria (Honda City Japanese domestic version) 2005/2006 model? I have checked couple of threads here in AL, but couldn’t find the info I need. One thread doesnt even have a single reply. http://forum.autolanka.com/index.php?showtopic=4840 http://forum.autolanka.com/index.php?showtopic=5126 Would appreciate if you guys could provide following info. Reliability issues of its CVT gear box. Maintenance cost of CVT gear boxes. Does this car have a variant with a standard auto box (non CVT). Your experiences and any information that one should know before buying this car. However, from current market investigations it seems like there is no or very little price difference between an unreg 2005/2006 Honda Fit Aria and a registered late J series or early K series 2002 Toyota Allion. If the idea is to use the new buy for more than 5 years, what would you guys recommend with your experiences with these cars? Specially the Honda Fit Aria.

    2010 Mazda 3

Saw this in one of our local car magazines (C*rs n G*dg*ts).... according to that, this will be on our shores by March with a price tag of about 6 to 6.5 mil.
  11. Just adding to the good descriptions already given by some.... 2003 G Limited comes with Xenons (only for Low beams). As someone already said they have seperate sections inside the light for the low beam and the high beam. Also G Limited has an illuminated dash. Also you might be intrested to know that the brand new ones bought from Toyota Lanka (XLi and GLi - I think), from 2004 onwards, the face lift ones (With the reverse lights on the boot lid by the side of the number plates, new shell, new head lights etc.) are going for the same or lower price range than the Jap G grades of 2003 (pre face lift). However, you should note that the options and trim level are lower than the Jap ones and they even lack 'ABS' as well.
  12. I drive a 2004 Kelisa manual (1000cc) and it averages about 14 in complete city driving with AC. On long trips it does over 18. Ride is not bad and the driving feel is great. A great car to rip through traffic and its my daily driver. Only recons and used ones are availble now. But still great. We do have a 2003 corolla auto (1500cc) and it averages about 11.5 in complete city driving with AC. On Long trips it has returned in the ranges of 16 and 17. Its a very comfortable and silent car. Sometimes i just switch off the radio, sit back and enjoy the silence when i'm on baseline road.

  14. I drive a 2004 Kelisa GXi. It has close to 30K on the clock. No big worries with it. Well, one worry i have been having with it is limited seat adjustment settings and quite loose number plate lights at the rear end. Also my front discs seems a bit warped, but its barely noticable. From other owners i have heard that the brake pads tend to wear out bit faster than other cars. Mine seems quite Ok though. Interior, i had few probs with a rattling glove box and the board that covers the boot area was quite jumpy therefore producing irritating noice when on bad roads. But managed to fix both the issues with some padding. Apart from that, interior is in great condition even after it had been coping with 15 inch alloys on our roads for some time. I have been in and driven few Indian Alto's. I prefer the Kelisa since it felt much better than the Alto and i think it's interior is a step above than that of the Indian Alto. Fuel wise, i have been getting between 13 to 14 Kmpl on 100% city driving on 13 inch wheels. However, i feel the two tone Kelisa has the best look from all those cars mentioned and has acceptable quality and durability plus good performance for a car of this category. It might lose on the fuel consumption compared to an Alto, but overall, Kelisa would be a little more of a classy choice.
  15. I dont think you are running on run flat tyres. I think you are referring to Low Profile tyres. Low profiles give you a better look because the alloy looks more prominent since there is less tyre to show. Also i think it gives better grip as well. Low profiles are certainly not the best on our road conditions and will help to wear out your suspension a lot faster and give you a very hard ride. But certainly they do look good. If you are not sure if they are low profile's just check the tyre size on your car, the numbers would read something like 195/55/R14. Number in the middle, in this case '55' means the height of the tyre as a percentge of its width, in this case 55% of '195'. So if your tyre has something equal to or below 55 or so, i think its safe to say that you are on Low Profile tyres. The optimal tyre size for your car should be shown on a sticker on the door post on the dirver's side. Those tyres will give you better fuel economy and better comfort but surely it comes at the expense of good looks that low profiles give.
  16. It will be a little cheaper since you wont have to pay for any profit margins of a car sale. But obviously you will not be able to personally examine the car and also there may be issues when doing the paper work at the harbour and you might end up paying more than you would have at a car sale. Well for the VAT issue, i think they issue a temporary VAT number on your PAYE tax or your tax file and then you need to give it to customs. Not sure about how leasing companies deals with that temporary VAT thing.
  17. Yes, I've heard many stories about Kelisa manual version doing around 13.5 or above in Colombo and 16 or above for long distance running. I can confirm that in a few weeks time i suppose. Also it is a credible alternative to Alto, Cherry and Trend. I think it looks and feels better than those cars. Also its 1000cc and not 800cc.
