  1. One more thing, I don't like to hijack your thread,, I was planning to post this once i am finished with the project, But your enthusiasm leaves me no choice, See some pictures of the custom dash.. may be poor taste.. but this is how when ideas were converted to real life things. (6 months ago actually) Pls dnt comment about the momo horn on nardi steering.
  2. Yes machan, the weave does not show up until i sand it with the Finest Grit 2500 paper. And to mention, i had to sand from 320 Grit to 1500 after each layer of resin. Painful excercise. Theres lot more refinements to do to get smooth edges on the quarter bumpers.
  3. Thanks man, Encouraging words indeed..
  4. Got some pics MMSed by the mechanic, The rear disk conversion is almost complete, Brake piping yet to be done, These are 121Luxel Brakes if i correctly remember, Its not much..yeah.. its not much
  5. Dude, There's a place at Papiliyana (USS Fibreglass services) that supplies Epoxy resin (the crystal clear type+ hardner). Its 5k a litre. Google for their site. They also have CF fabric but bit too pricy. So my advice, get CF down from Ebay. Talk to the CEO of USS, he is really a nice guy. You can do a sample first, then master the method. This is my CF wrapped quarter bumper before polishing. You see the weave pattern is barely visible as the surfece needs some polishng. Applying epoxy is a messy job, believe me! I wasted approx. 2 squaremeters of CF for DIYing. See the pics.. http://imageshack.com/a/img577/5526/k2qh.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img9/7602/v9bo.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img43/6021/7yj9.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img822/1461/ylkf.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img9/732/37uk.jpg
  6. WOW dude, I am sure those will look awsome once they are installed. Nice to see your progress. Guess what? My engine has arrived at the ports, bt might take sum time to clear as these are chiristmas/new year days. I read your post in fordcapriforum and amazed to see that some of those guys actually liked that hideous yellow bodykit that Uncle Lakshman's son made.
  7. Would i suggest this..?? May not be the perfect match, but a damn good deal (askn only 4.3mil), Its the facelifted Dualis http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=138875
  8. Ok.. That is eye opennig.. Did not give a much thought as i have been using my 1st car for the past 12 years, n the clock is still under 150k. I should re-evalute my desicion making paradigm
  9. Not sure the milage is genuine. However i did some research within my means to see the availability of a cvt box just in case.. Is this car familiar to u vvti ?
  10. Hi Experts, I was lookin for a P11 CVT.M6 type for a while and finally found one in Seeduwa @ ikxxn site, GM plates, with 127k on the clock, in Okhey condition. I am not much of a fuel economy fan, so my only concern is the reliability. The car was eye candy but had an oil leak under the distributor when i went to have a look last week. What do you think guys ? I really really want to buy the car..
  11. Dude u got a pair no..? Triplet right ? Good luck.
  12. oh my!!.. seriously i am jealous
  13. Thanks guys.. your comments help me justify the costs of the project..
  14. Hoonigan, (thought of PMing you, but posting here as others might be interested) when i plotted the actual dimensions of Capri's hub on A-CAD, it seemed impossible to find space to drill 5 studs on a 4 stud hub (I am not that A-CAD literate, but there a genius who helps me do these things) the ford PCD is 108mmx4 and the BBS wheels had 114.3mmx5, there was an overlapping of the holes, but i dint worry filling the existing holes as, ( If you try to fill the holes with High Carbon iron and try to re-drill, you may fail as the iron gets tough after welding) The TRICK is to new make the new holes first and weld later, See the attached CAD drawings, take a printout, but there a high change that you can go millimetrically (Clerkson, Year Unkown) wrong when you paste the paper on the hub. So i will give you the plastic mould. Give me sum time to check with the garage guy (i left those at the garage weeks ago) @ Hoonigan- Check your email, i have sent you the CAD drawings of the hub marker, @ Komi i will contact you.
  15. the engine did not arrive yet.. the dealer had not shipped it on the scheduled date. I am getting the engine sown through a panchikawatte guy, so typically, have to bear with all the BS that he was sellin. now i think he shipped it a week ago. about the 5 stud thing. i drew a pentagon of 114.3mm in autocad. got it laser-cut on a plastic sheet. It made easy for the lathe guy make the holes. A workshop with a manual milling machine can do the job.. BTW i can give you the plastic mould if u want.. As i ve spent all my money on the engine, no plans to do rear coil spring conversion until i drop the engine in. And i see you guys (komi n hoonigan) doing awsome on your projects
  16. Dear Experts, Without hijacking Hoonigan's thread, i thought of attaching sum pics front brake and suspension upgrade of Capri Mk1 The project is going incredibly slow these days. Here are the specs..and the pics.. Suspension.. 1. Tein (used) coilover conversion kit 2. OEM strut 3. OEM Hub (redrilled to fit 5 stud wheel) 4. SKF thrust bearings 5. Cast aluminum and Heavy duty GI pipe 6. Gabriel Shocks Brakes (I have seen this done by a some guy in UK on his capri) 1. Toyota hilux 4 pot calipers 2. Toyota Crown Vented Disks 3. Brackets Next Job: Plasti Dipping, Zink coating.. I will update the progress..
  17. Its possible putting 245XXX to a capri to my knowledge.. But probably with some wheel arches.. Go ahead with your plans on your car machan.. apparantly none of the Capris in SL has your spec..bt in my case, I had to limit certain things in my project de to the cost factor + fear of failing.. The arches are going to be blended to the body panels.. SN
  18. @ Hoonigan, Yes machan, The arches are being done.. I took (the tinker guy honestly) all the effort to keep the main bodywork intact.. (Capri's signature mark)..and.. I was wrong about the tire sizes.. the rear are 215x55 R16.. not 225.. my bad.. You see... the wheel botls not tightened until i am finished with minor adjustments in the wheel arches.. I dint keep any photos of the progress so far.. So i will take everything fresh.. The taillights are from the FACELIFTED 73 Capri and RS3100 too.. Try Ebay US..under Mercury Capri Mk1 despite FORD Capri.. and these lights are made by Hella..So, Search the miscategorized items in ebay under Hella.. made in Germany..etc.. Plus i will PM u some catalogs .. I donno how to attach these to the main thread..
  19. Hoonigan, As promised, i went to the garage this morning,. managed to get sum pics with my phone camera.. I am currently doing the tinkering thing all over again..(failed once because of an imcompetent $#..) I will update you with the brake mods.. It would be my pleasure if these pics help you..
  20. I started this 3 years back.. I was adding slight mods to the car.. currently i am installing big brakes to it..(4 pots to the front and disks to the rear) I will take sum pics this weekend when i visit the garage and post here.. plus i had to put 1" spacers, tightly locked to the hub and some decent wheel arches to accommodate the rear wheels.. i am too cautious not to ruin the bodylines.. SN
