  1. A little more to the previous update.. This is nothing new but some pictures of the transmission mounts, propeller shaft, and steering rack modification. The1JZ being front sumped, we had to move steering rack mounts back. The front rack mounts of the strut were repositioned as seen in the pics.. The whole undercarriage needs some TLC i.e. smoothing, grinding, undercoating Looks like i will have to re-solder the nuts
  2. To tell you the truth, i DON'T HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA
  3. Guys. there have not been any updates to the project since August. Capri is resting at home waiting for the motor to fire up. I am slowly collecting things like ground wire, fuel lines to get myself prepared for the job. Seems like this particular 1JZ-GTE Vvti came off a Crown athlete/majesta (JDM only). So, wiring diagrams illustrated in English were almost non-existent. However, figured that this crown ECU has the same pin-outs of 2JZ-GTE VVti. Hope to fire her up next week. The pictures were taken soon after she was brought home from the garage following engine installation. Will upload more pics on the firewall and gear box cover/mounts/etc These show the new rear axle, extended wheel arches (for the 2nd time due to the new axle.. i am such an idiot.. i should have decided the axle mods before doing the arches ) brake installation. (Pipes need alignment !!!!) $$$$ SHE IS SITTING ON VVTI's MASTERCRAFTS $$$$$$
  4. Go near Comm_ bank Panchikawatta. The at the entrance to the adjacent "Watta", there's a boy who does that. He will do both under 4k
  5. Well !!! i bought a car which had TEN previous owners with a DUPLICATE book, 2 months ago!! Though she is not exactly Mia..Close enough to be a porn-star or a S_ _ T (she has changed hands at least twice a year )
  6. Why did i miss this ? I really must go and see with my own eyes !! That looks professional as usual. Komi ! tell me ! Has your Mr.Tinker welded nuts to each and every hole made to mount the lights ?
  7. L**K at Jubilee post-NG has Zinc spray cans. They might work
  8. Machan, The Hulux diff is from a Gasoline version. Seemed a good match for the engine.. frankly i am not 100% sure until proper road test. I am hoping that there will be lot of issues once i take her to road test (in terms of wobbling, acceleration etc.etc.) We have not touched reinforcement part as the mounting work is not over. Some careful look at the weight bearing structure made us decide some solutions to reinforce the firewall. Yet subject to change as the thing goes.. Komi am flattered really!!! i really like the attention that i am getting with the new car. Today sending her for few touch-ups. Got a new bumper too (with round fog lights). I want make her look something like this..with black wheels of course !!
  9. Looks like your are going through the same procedure that i ve been through. The re-drilled hubs look accurately done. And what a keen pair of eyes that your tinker guys got man!!! He has nicely detailed the rear n seems made sure to leave an even space around the taillights for future bead.. maybe ??
  10. A small update on the ongoing work. The tinker is going abroad for employment next week. So accelerated his work for both time and money. Another problem!!! Had to change the rear axle to a Hilux to match torquey engine. The motor now nicely sitting in the engine bay, the only problem is guarding the oil-pan
  11. I humbly thank you all (komi, Don, MD, Vvti, Devinda ) showing interest. It appears that criticism is constructive. Especially Komi..who has been helping me do things right. I value your feedback and your comments made me put everything on a hold for a while. Meanwhile i spoke to Sacha n he said that we can talk about it during the course of next week. He was not too serious about a tubular frame, unless i had plans to take the car to race. Anyways, i will be more careful in future work.
  12. Seems going to be very hard work.. They have cut about 1sqft out of firewall. Anyways texted Sacha Pieris in the morning. He said he will help. And thanks guys for opening my eyes !!!
  13. Thanks everyone. And Devinda_z, a tubular frame was in the back of my mind. But these mechs are not the people to do that. the only reason that I am keeping the care at present garage is, I can pay close attention. Thanks for the link machan. It helps a lot..
  14. Reeeeely???? thought it was an SR20DET.. Can't wait to hear about it !!
  15. Guys.. Now it seems that the reinforcement part only helps the nose of the car. It does not do much to strengthen the chassis or the firewall (of which a part was cut a few days back). I wasn't sure about the capacity of those mechanics so did not go to remove accessories much(They are careless with the spares). Its only another few more days to fix the major parts. On a side note.. I agree to what Don said !! Its just a crazy idea to think of a 1JZ. But i am really happy that i pulled this off this far. May be the 1JZ craze in the other parts of the world made me try this. Quite honestly, i did not have the slightest idea if it going to success or not !. I think there could be infinite number possibilities for a project to fail and a very few to success. I wasn't motor-mechanically literate enough even to take a calculated risk . Keeping moderate hopes to finish (most of it) at least by the end of the year it as my wife wants to set fire to it . I would highly value your advice and comments as they keep the project going ...
  16. Two days ago 1JZ barely fitted in the engine bay.. We are still struggling to figure out mounting. I was little sad to see the amount of abuse that the car has to undergo.. I hope it will look decent once finished !!
  17. Komi !. We arnt living there anymore.. But I know all those kuddos and gentlemen living down that lane..
  18. I got bbs_rs caps from Raja..we hav a house in that lane so.. We are neighbours
  19. Rumesh88, I don't know this is true or not. This photo appeared coincidentally on my FB homepage today. Totally agree to the fact that there is a quite a lot of bogus claims made by people to insurance companies. In Chan5's case, its sad that the company doesn't seem being fair and has somewhat breached the trust between itself and the customer !!(If my understanding is Correct !!).. May be you could enlighten us on this topic a little more.. respect !!!
