  4. Hello guys, I ve got a 1992 civic sedan with a vtec-e motor and check engine code indicating 22 which is valve timing oil pressure switch.when finding a cure just got to knw from honda tech forums there is a solution without installing a new switch..which is to remove the blue black wire from the switch and splice it with the wire on the vtec solenoid and grounding the other black wire to chassy .the result was no CEL error code anymore ..but just to clarify have i done this correctly any of u guys have done this??is it ok to do this ? Hope any one could give an advice which is greatly appreciable..
  5. Hello again, Just wanted to give an update about the condition coz hoping it might help some one in future .. Managed to get the car back to good runing condition ..took the car to Randika (kelaniya)..after examing it was found that blocked radiator was the culprit and head gasket gone and also there was some play in the pistons .. Bought complete engine overhaul kit did all the gaskets seal n hoses cleaned all ..changed piston rings..replacedthe radiator with new dual core alluminium radiator (top n bottom tanks brass) cost 15k ..and all spares costed arround 30k and repair cost 16k ..also the whining noise was from the melted n deformed t belt cover.. And feels so relieved now car in good condition and got to mention Randika has done a fine job no issues till now.. And thanks a lot guys for valueble comments.. And lessons learned never underestimate heat issues .... Cheers:)
  6. Hello Harshansenadhir.. Well noted and greately appriciate the detailed advice ..thank you very much.. Yeah i do notice some times my radiater in out hoses are really hard n stiff when the engine is running for a long time may be a block..and at times temp gauage rises suddnly and drops after some time.. The whole water circulation system shoud be thoughrely checked and planingto replace the radiator as well coz its old n rusted ..
  7. Hi GayanR ..timing belt was changed and only done 10,000 kms..may be its loose or something like that..
  8. Thanx a lot Don and H.C ..well noted .will look in to the water pump and oil seals ..
  9. Hi Don,Thanx a lot for the fast reply ..well noted and one more thing, can the t belt cover melt due to excessive heat and it get deformed and touch the t belt? and do i need to dismantle all and check the t belt propelry and also a compression check for any cracks in cylinder liners.. Will these be necessary .please advice..
  10. Hello everyone, Yesterday took my car to a long journey arround warakapola Area in hill roads and was returning home to clmbo ..before starting back checked the coolent and added some water to top it up.. When passing kirllawela i stopped the car to give way to a crossing vehicle and when tried to move ,car stalled and couldnt start again .. And the temp was in the red zone in the gauge .my bad didnt notice it before.. Stepped out and checked the radiator holly crap nothing was in it no coolent all gone ..further investigation found out one rubber hose was burst open n it has drain all the coolent.. Called up a friend and towed the car to home and left it to cool down and fixed the rubber hose and started the car and add water to refill the radiater. car started fine took it a test drive and car runs fine ...onlything bad is can hear a wining noise around t belt area its like tbelt rubbing agaist cover or something like that still no idea and also when started on neutral idle speed slightly fluctuating it was like that before also but it feels like more now.. And no bubbles in the oil cap and raditer as well and no white smoke from the muffler.. Only thing seems faulty is the noice from the t belt area .. Could anyone please advice whattodo .. FYI car is honda civic 1992 sedan Vtec-e..
  11. Hello machan, The mechanic managed to put the timing belt seems he has done it correctly..infact he is a toyota specialist not sure with honda stuff..so taking the car today to get it checked from a honda guy few more things as well cleaning fuel injectors n throttle valves.. And one more thing, scanned the car from auto miraj everything was fine except error code showing IAT (TA) censor circuit low input..anything can be done about or any one has gone through this..please advice...
  12. Thanks a lot for ur highly valueble inputs ..so i am gonna give one more chance to the mechanic he keeps on saying he can fix it but hoping he will do bttr tmrw .if not i will take it to a honda specialist before things go beyond worse.. just one more question guys ..if the guy sets the timing belt wrong will it ruin the timing belt because it was replaced 10,000 km's before..almost new i guess..

  14. Hello everyone, the condition is some how seems critical..need immediate advice from the experts ..please could any one advice.. Took the car to a reputed place in kadawatha and they replaced the gasket and completed the work but after starting the car it seems something wrong faulty start sound and the rythem of engine seems abnormal and can feel the smell of unburned petrol and the engine runing is not steady few misses as well and engine heats up rapidly those are the symptoms ..the garage head mechanic claims that its because the timing belt he installed is faulty have to re adjust it seems this guy is lost.. Could any one advice is this the fault and please advice on immediate correctice action... Thank you.....
