    Bmw X1 Vs 318D

    Gummybr i agree with you. I think Pre**ige is also misleading people. They are showing the duty calculation as 60% of CIF value. But realistically it should be 60% duty payable - (CIF x 185%) x 60%. 185 % - <2000cc diesel { ref: http://badusure.com/blog/2010/06/sri-lanka-announces-new-tax-structure-for-motor-vehicles/ } therefore duty should be {Rs. 2,750,000 ($25,000 @ 110/$) x 187% } x 60% = Rs. 3,085,500 Total Cost = Rs. 2,750,000 (cif value) + Rs. 3,085,000 (duty) + Rs. 1,000,000 (handling charges) = Rs. 6,835,500
  3. if the vehicle you are going to convert is is presently having english no.'s den you'll retain the same no.. so ne vehicle registered after 2000 will hav a english number plate.u get 325- for pre-2000 registered vehicles (dat is vehicles presently having non english no.'s). once all the conversion documentation is done wit the RMV, you'l get a new plate with the diesel (D) logo in the number plate. doin a conversion for a vehicle such as a montero requires a good mechanic and an excellent electrician. as most of the post 2000 model monteros have advanced computer systems. there are only a few technicians who hav the capability to meddle wit them. convertin the vehicles you are interested in is not worth it, because once converted, it would hav cost you the same amount as buyin an original diesel. also the after sales value of a converted is much lower than an original diesel... i believe the best vehicles for conversions are vans... had a few converted vehicles, the most common problem in all of them was the engine vibration due to the different sizes of the engine mounts, and the electronic glitches.. best option for you i would say is to go for a 2000 model 2.8 diesel fabric seat montero or a 97/98 model diesel (english no.) prado, these ar 2 vehicles i hav always had confidence in.. good luck in ur endeavours.
  4. e*ro car pa*ts in cotta road does jaguar parts... and there is another guy in boralesgamuwa - N*ville, he brings down 2nd hand european car parts from sing (mainly body parts), so occasionally he has jag parts and sometimes if u request he gets parts down...

    Pajero Exceed

its not a european brand. its the model which came after the 2.8 intercooler (97/98 onwards). it was a very reliable model. the avarage market price i think is between 50-55, 60 is way too much.. there is a 2000 model 2.8 montero (leather seats) for sale on AL classified at 7 mill (negotiable as well), i would consider that as a bargain although the leather seats looks worn out. by the way how much is your budget??
  9. CHAROKE?? MERZ or is it a hearse??? dude my sis can spell car names btr dan u and i'm pretty sure she has a better knowledge of cars dan u!! Pajero Exceed

there are three models which came in 92, pajero turbo wagon, the computer model (or police model) and the intercooler shape 2.5 litre (without turbo). the 2.8 litre intercooler came 93 onwards. pajero turbo wagon's are for sale from 28-33! the computer model - 30-37. intercooler 2.5 - 36-42! All these prices vary according to the condition of the vehicle. the brand new, company through 2.5 intercooler shape models nvr came as exceed and they didn't have intercooler turbo. as yours is a exceed and is TDI, it should be a domestic model recondition import. the 2.5's were much better dan the 2.8 intercoolers as their engines gave less trouble and is very economical in fuel terms. for 4.6 i dont think its worth it cos cud you get a intercooler 2.8 65- for that price or 2-3 lacks higher. with intercooler 2.8 models, i wud hav to agree with harshans comments. many 64-'s tend to be hacked. but u shud try to get a 65-, as most 65- in the market ar at present in good condition. many traders charge a slightly higher price if the colour is red or white as wel for some unknown reason. but i wud agree with vwvortex, i wud also opt for a prado box model. we had 2 65-'s and dey were easy to maintain and easy to resell.

i assume your talking about the computer body (known by d traders)! i would agree with harshan's comments, but his latter comment is the most important i think. you better check about it before you buy the vehicle, as many mitsubushi intercooler engines tend to wear out due to under-compression after about 100-150k. the best thing is you better show it to a good mechanic and get their opinion before you buy it, as repairin mitsubishi engines tend to cost a hefty sum.
  12. crystal light tail lamps are available at most places in wijerama or a*t*bhan in wattala (in front of t*y*ta l*nk*). a*t*bhan might have recondition exhausts as well. as an alternative, if you cant find an exhaust, why dont you get a new exhaust done by one of these silencer shops. cos it's ussually very difficult to find reconditon exhausts for prados, spcecially in good condition. also just check wit e*ro-n*pp*n, panadura, dey tend to have a wide variety of prado parts.
  13. Dude where have you been living all these years???? Have you seen the thousands of vehicles going around the roads of Sri Lanka, which are actually not suitable for road use. These vehicles would have failed MOT tests in UK over a decade ago. I think a CTB bus on average has an emission level ten times that of an hummer!! We need to stop importing vehicles like Tata lorries, ashok leylands and stop the road use of old/derelict vehicles before we start complainin abt the impact hummer's cause on the enviroment. Also with regards to your quote 'Gem mudalali type wearing gold bracelets', whats the big deal of gem merchants and wat type of bracelet they wear. They are businessmen who have worked hard to earn their living, so what they spend it on is their business. Also their profession is important to our country as it bring's alot of foreign currency into the country. Let the people who have money buy hummers and let the people like me who like hummers, enjoy the pleasure of seeing such vehicles in our roads.
  14. [quote name='podilamaya' date='Feb 11 2008, 02:59 PM' post='62058' Hi guys I came across Mitsubishi Montero (face lifted Pejero , like Mitsubishi shogun in ), year 2000 brand new, full option 3OOOcc V6 petrol with 302-xxxx number plates, Please tell me what are the things should I consider or have to check before commit on this. (I already know it does only 4.5Km per L) How much would be the usual market price for this Tks I believe the jeep you are referring to was there in the autolanka classified. Anyway I did come across this jeep (white, wit a hilton sticker on the windscreen) few weeks ago at a garage, it was there for the water pump to be replaced. And i recall the mechanic telling me that they were buying a new pump from the company. So if the owner is somebody who buys brandnew spares from the company when there are enough of recondition parts available on the market, I believe he is somebody who maintains the jeep well. Also I did check the jeep and i remember it been in comparatively good condition. The leather seats seemed to be fine, and also i remember seein the mileage abt 105k. But overall i was quite pleased with the condition of the jeep. Also i think the owner was expecting 3.5 million, which i tink is a good price considerin that the diesel (65-) of the same model goes for abt 5 - 5.5 mill.. But i tink if u cud negotiate and buy it for about 3.1/3.2 mill., it wud be a bargain for u. and i'm sure you would be able to sell it for >3.5 mill later on. I believe the only worrying factors are the petrol consumption and maintenance.
