  1. You're now stimulating the soft spot I had towards 508 but the premature engine wear and tear still keeping me away from that gen of Peugeots. Big mistake by reducing the pot capacity and trying to yank out more power. Also this reminded me of a 607 which only had 16k on odo sometimes back and a guy had jumped in thinking it's a minter since low mileage. ended up fixing almost all the car due to various issues. Personally I don't prefer low mileage cars rather will go for decently driven yet well maintained specimens.
  2. Audi 100 LS. This particular one must be from US coz of the additional side markets on all 4 corners was a must according to US regulations.
  3. Either Gummybr or matroska can proceed giving the next trivia. It's Isuzu Aska first gen, also known as Chevrolet JJ, Chevrolet Aska, Holden Aska.
  4. quite reasonable considering cost of living these days. never looked at dealer except when getting some minor accident repairs for 407 and buying small bits and pieces (engine cover retainer clips and door window guide for 406 which was nowhere to be found). Test drove 508 back then but didn't move into, rather walked away from the brand.
  5. Not checking forums on daily basis as opposed to those days where I used to be in the forum literally always. Good old days here you go. Must be a piece of cake for classic lovers.
  6. Congrats with your purchase. As long as your better half is happy
  7. What's the mileage ? Hissing sound is normal for this brake system. If you don't have any errors there's nothing to panic. Accumulator running is the standard operation to re-pressurise the system (which gets de-pressurise after few minutes from switching off the vehicle) If you can replace brake fluid every 10-15k, that will help longevity of the ABS modulator. As for accumulator and the pump, the pump obviously will wear out over a period of time and will need replacing when it doesn't generate enough pressure or takes prolonged period to pressurise the system.
  8. Not too bad. What was the labor and was it from the main dealer ?
  9. This number plate system is a mess to begin with. FZ - Re-registered diplomat vehicles bearing DP-XXXX plates. Not quite sure whether 98-XXXX ones were given FZ plates EA - onwards - This was opened for motor cars in 18/19/300/301/302 and 32/64 categories to re-register under new English number system. This was opened for 325 - ones as well. 325 was originally given for converted re-registrations and some ex-military vehicle re-registrations.
  10. I've had a March AK12 with KE- plates for a little while recently. contrary to the popular believe, it returned 13-14 kmpl during city running. sold around 2.8mil last year. I'd say add that into your list and evaluate. if you can stretch the budget a bit, Viva Elite will be a good choice as well. Watch out for lemons changed hands frequently with tampered mileage though.
  11. Let me also add Lancer C11/12 into the equation. Highly underrated yet FWD modern car in affordable price range.
  12. May I suggest a bit of a practical fuel efficient daily drive but not a Jap still it's reliable and a decent car. Perodua Viva Elite. If you get hold of a premium version then it has ABS plus few other bells and whistles than the ordinary version. Price wise it'll be slightly above 3.0 mil mark
  13. What's the vehicle, model. Hardly anything can cause a humming noise from alternator when only ignition is switched on. in order to isolate the problem, can you disconnect the 12v+ wire from the alternator and switch on the ignition to see whether the humming noise is still there or not.
  14. for AE/CE 1XX series wagons / vans, you can easily distinguish by the chassis code. Van would start with AE/CE 106 or 108 where as original L touring and G touring chassis number will start from AE/CE 100.
  15. Apart from what iRage emphasised you can be mindful of following. Even if the chassis number is matching with what's in the book, you still need to validate whether it's engraved by someone or the original chassis number (unless re-engraved by government workshop legally). Best is to take the finalised one to a reputed valuation agent where they spot such tampered / locally illegally engraved chassis numbers. make sure all particulars are updated in the book especially engine number, engine capacity, wheel base (there are some short wheel to long wheel swaps), body colour and number of passengers. For a long wheel base, number of passengers should be 7. There are ones registered with mini coach category (61-) which has 9 passengers if i'm not mistaken. These ones have relatively less market value as the driver requires to have heavy vehicle license to drive one. Further, check throughly for corrosions, cracks in the chassis especially under front passenger area starting from the firewall. Check for body corrosions especially on the floor boards, body mounts, firewall around where wiper motor is fitted), A pillar as those are difficult to tinker. some parts are bit hard or expensive to find such as the master window switch on the driver's door, nickel covers on the roof gutters, interior plastic bits (if something is missing most probably you'll have to buy a whole interior set as importers are reluctant to sell pieces separately). good luck in hunting. Though it's 30 plus year old workhorse, it can outsmart many new vehicles on the road as well as off road.
  16. This should be a straight forward fix as I did the same for my 2012 Aqua hybrid (Axio hybrid and Aqua hybrid shares the same drivetrain and most electronics). Conversion took about 2 hours altogether and it's handy when cruising on expressway at 100. I don't think I'm allowed to post the details of the place as it might be advertising. It's a place near Kadawatha interchange and if you search in Toyota Aqua Owners page in FB, you'll get enough posts about this place and many others.
  17. If you don't have any issue with going for a diesel variant, Toyota RegiusAce and GrandHiace / Granvia are two viable options if you get hold of the original passenger version with lots of bells and whistles including independent suspension. Enjoying one for last year or so as the comfy family vehicle. No this isn't for sale
  18. Not a mini user myself but from what I know, you'll be better off with a one there's 1275cc metro engine in it.
  19. Hybrid system failure. It can happen for simple reasons such as over heated battery pack to errors like replace the HV battery pack. Best is to get it scanned for error codes to begin with
  20. Both are good and proven models over here. There are couple of other places you can get both repaired at. I used to work with Berline Automobile. As far as E46 is concerned, the diesel model has an inherited issue of damper pulley giving up prematurely and frequently unless otherwise you stick to genuine damper pulley. Apart from that it's a great driving machine in terms of driver pleasure and fuel economy. Also, you don't feel like you're driving a stick shifter
  21. mostly these are mound related, get the engine and gearbox mounts checked for broken mounts. Do this while the hood is popped and someone watching (make sure the parking brake is applied and keep the brake pedal pressed). Then you'll see engine tilts from side to side. This is a definite sign of bad mounts. Hope this helps
  22. That's a decent looking car mate. This was once my dream buy. Honestly the reason was Euro spec features this car has. However, Never happened as I moved with 407 and so on (Euro biased)
  23. what happened with your issue? did you get the charging checked. It's always good to leave a feedback as to what was the cause and remedy as someone will learn a thing
