  1. Hi Friends, I bought a petrol Outlander from the agents last month now the first service is due at 1000km. UM has two service stations in Colombo. Namely, Hyde park corner and Orugodawatta. Almost same distance to both locations from my home. With my experience of A*W, service levels are different at each location though company tries to maintain same standards. I’m trying to pick the best (in terms of quality of service) UM service station out of the two. Can someone who used the services of these two workshops share the experience? Has anyone tried out both and which one you feel better?
  2. Hi Friends, I want to get 3M protective film done for door edges, door cups etc of a Mitsubishi Outlander. Appreciate if you could let me know a reliable place in Colombo to get this done. tks in advance for your help
  3. Hi GQ_Over_MQ, Thanks for your advice. A locksmith suggested the same however he wanted Rs. 4000 for it which seems to be not reasonable. He said extraction of transponder is very time consuming (though it's a few minutes job as per the video). Can anyone suggest a place to get this done at a reasonable rate ?? tks re-posting on the correct place... Hi GQ_Over_MQ, Thanks for your advice. 5. Dear Friends, I’m using a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2006 which has a smart key. As you know, there is a manual key inserted to the key fob and I was using the manual key when the battery was down. Apparently, the plastic holder kind of thing of the manual key was broken while trying to open the door. I took it to a key repairer and they mentioned though it’s a manual key, it has an inbuilt IC unit hence they need about LKR 4000 just to produce a manual key. It was bit hard for me to believe this. I thought the smart key is programmed for keyless entry and the manual key is just an ordinary car key. Can I have your expert knowledge on this? Is there an IC inside the manual key which makes it that much expensive to repair?Dear Friends, I’m using a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2006 which has a smart key. 6. I have spent a lot on suspension but still lot of noise. Anyway it’s boring when you driving the same car for too long
  7. Dear Experts, Currently I’m driving a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2006 and my maintenance cost is increasing since the vehicle is getting old. Hence I’m planning to buy a new SUV for around 5mn. Hot choice for this range is the Vezel but I do not like it since it has become too common on the road. Recently I noticed about the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. Can you all share some thoughts of followings? 1) How good its performance in terms of power, fun to drive etc. I know it’s a Subaru but the hybrid version could be different 2) I have never used a Subaru hence not sure how good the agents here. 3) This is Subaru’s first hybrid. Has anyone heard of technical issues, re-calls? Thanking in advance for your support…
  8. Dear Friends, Do you know a place in Colombo where I can buy genuine spare parts for Susuki GV (2006)? I mean other than agents. Thanks in advance
  9. Thanks for your inputs. In this case, vehicle was bought in brand new and serviced at agents throughout. And the service records supports the odometer reading. I'm particularly interested in knowing about the mechanical and other issues that is common to a Vitara after such a high usage. Also how about your experience about the inspection package available at agents? Do you believe that report is good enough to decide the condition of the vehicle?
  10. Hi Friends, Need your valuable advise on following matter. Recently I came across a 2007 (brand new) Grand Vitara which has done around 110,000 km. body and interior looks good. Actually I was looking for a Vitara that has done around 70,000km. Hence I'm bit worried to by this vehicle since it has done over 110k. But one of my friends told this not a big deal for a 2000cc engine vehicle. Please let me know your views on this. Is this vehicle at a stage where it's starting to give lot of trouble? Has any of you used a Vitara over this mileage if so what is your experience? Pls advise.
  11. Hi Friends, I have been looking for a FD1 and all this time I searched for ones brought brand new to Sri Lanka. Recently I have seen a Japan domestic model fd1 (sports model with paddle shift, w/mirrors etc but no sunroof). Can you kindly answer following questions? 1. Is there any disadvantage compared to ones came brand new (like not suitable for Sri Lankan conditions)? 2. Is the ground clearance less (haven't seen this car physically yet)? 3. Is there any difference in market price?
  12. Thanks for your tips. Axela is fine but resell value is an issue. Axio seems to be highly over priced these days. I like both Premio and Allion, but I don't like to buy a 2006/05 car which means high chances of repairs in next two to three years I'm going to use it. I personally like the Nissan Bluebird Sylphy because of the appearance but don’t know much about it. Appreciate if you can provide some information about it. Couldn’t find much articles when I searched.
  13. Dear Friends, Currently I'm driving a Nissan FB 15. I’m looking for a registered car with more options and comfort. Budget is 3.5 to 4 million. Following are my priorities 01. Easy maintenance (don't want to go to the agents for every repair). 02. Re-sell value 03. Good speed and comfort 04. Fuel is not big deal Following are the options I have looked at. (don't like Hybrids) 01. Corolla 141 LX(2008) 02. Nissan Bluebird Sylphy (2008) 03. Civic FD (2007) Which of these best matches my requirements? Any other cars you suggest
