  1. It was wonderful to note that we have members who are so up to date and update the others on the forum as soon as these information are posted on the Toyota web site. Osaka Dude on the other hand with all his inside information from Japan it self is 7 weeks late, wakes up from his slumber and opens up useless threads with old information as if it is brand new and discovered only by his genius!

  2. The only 161 available is the Toyota Corolla Axio. The new Corolla for international markets goes as 170. It is significantly larger, has bigger engines and looks better than the 161. 161 is probably more fuel efficient.

  3. Sensors - If you are really keen, you can get the car scanned for faults. In practice, if the the car is running smooth and does not have warning lights flashing on the dash board, I wouldn't bother.

AC - They will clean the cabin air filter at the regular service. Its good practice to have the AC system checked and serviced every couple of years

Brake pads will be inspected during regular service.

Tune up - If the engine runs smoothly without a miss or rough idling, no check engine lights , passes the emission test without a problem and returns good fuel economy it probably doesn't need one. However you may do it annually for peace of mind.

  4. Toyota Lanka or Kl**n Pa*k are quite good. Change engine oil and oil filter at every service (5000 km) and air filter every 20000 km or earlier if signs of damage. Use Toyota oil and Toyota or VIC filters. Best to change CVT oil at 40000 km intervals using only genuine Toyota CVT oil for peace of mind.

For severe conditions Toyota recommends an oil change at 90000km as per the service schedule attached. A service adviser at Toyota recommended inspection and if necessary replacement at 40000km intervals considering the harsher conditions here. It does not need frequent changing and is not even mentioned in the owners manual.

  6. In heavy Colombo traffic it may take an hour to travel 8km and your engine would be running with the AC also switched on for an hour which would consume a lot of fuel though you have not covered much distance. Since traffic is not standard it is very difficult to give kmpl figures in heavy traffic.

  7. The vitz has 2 coolant temperature warning lights, one green (low coolant temp) and one red (high coolant temp) . Both come on when you turn on the ignition key. The red one should go off a second or two after starting but the green one may stay until the engine has warmed up to the normal operating temperature. If the RED comes on while the engine is running you are in trouble. Stop immediately and get expert help.
