  1. You buy BMWs and Mazdas for handling and road feel. If you don't want them go for a Toyota where road feel is non existent regardless of the brand of tire!!
  2. Toyota Lanka are after all the agents and their work is usually quite good. A bit expensive though.

    Toyota Recalls

It was wonderful to note that we have members who are so up to date and update the others on the forum as soon as these information are posted on the Toyota web site. Osaka Dude on the other hand with all his inside information from Japan it self is 7 weeks late, wakes up from his slumber and opens up useless threads with old information as if it is brand new and discovered only by his genius!

    Toyota Recalls

Stale news. It was posted on Autolanka on the 9th of April by Ruslan and iRage on a Prius recall thread ironically started by you! http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/15973-toyota-prius-honda-fit-vezel-recall-information/page-5#entry259821
  5. The process has been streamlined and is done at customs. What unimo told is correct. However you need not go personally. You can fill the form and fax it to Unimo and they should be able to take care of it.
  6. Found the second smart key hidden in the side trim below the right A pillar. Thanks guys.
  7. Go to Darley Rd. They will cut a mirror (glass) and fix it. No need to replace the whole thing if the other stuff are working.
  8. The only 161 available is the Toyota Corolla Axio. The new Corolla for international markets goes as 170. It is significantly larger, has bigger engines and looks better than the 161. 161 is probably more fuel efficient.
  9. Sensors - If you are really keen, you can get the car scanned for faults. In practice, if the the car is running smooth and does not have warning lights flashing on the dash board, I wouldn't bother. AC - They will clean the cabin air filter at the regular service. Its good practice to have the AC system checked and serviced every couple of years Brake pads will be inspected during regular service. Tune up - If the engine runs smoothly without a miss or rough idling, no check engine lights , passes the emission test without a problem and returns good fuel economy it probably doesn't need one. However you may do it annually for peace of mind.
  10. Toyota Lanka or Kl**n Pa*k are quite good. Change engine oil and oil filter at every service (5000 km) and air filter every 20000 km or earlier if signs of damage. Use Toyota oil and Toyota or VIC filters. Best to change CVT oil at 40000 km intervals using only genuine Toyota CVT oil for peace of mind.
  11. It may be the sound of diesel being injected through the nozzles that you hear ( a kind of a hissing sound). If that is the case it indicates a job well done rather than a fault. It may also be because some one adjusted the pump incorrectly (advance or retard). An experienced mechanic should be able to sort it out without much fuss.
  12. Haven't heard of any major issues with the Aqua so far. However the new Honda fit hybrid was recently recalled for a gear box issue.
  13. Check the mounts and connections of the silencer. Had a similar issue and the problem solved with a bit of grease!
  14. The cooling system is not something to take a chance with. It should be working properly or else may result in severe damage to the engine and related components. Glue in a cooling system will not work for long. Suggest to get it professionally repaired or replaced as it will definitely save a lot of money and trouble in the long run.
  15. For severe conditions Toyota recommends an oil change at 90000km as per the service schedule attached. A service adviser at Toyota recommended inspection and if necessary replacement at 40000km intervals considering the harsher conditions here. It does not need frequent changing and is not even mentioned in the owners manual.
  16. Toyota Lanka recommends CVT oil change at 40000km intervals
  17. Just had a look at the picture. It says 316 not 316i isn't it? In that case (unless the 'i' has fallen off or I'm not seeing it in the picture) it may be a M10 carburetor engine with a timing chain
  18. If it is a M40 engine, better change the timing belt if no records are available
  19. In heavy Colombo traffic it may take an hour to travel 8km and your engine would be running with the AC also switched on for an hour which would consume a lot of fuel though you have not covered much distance. Since traffic is not standard it is very difficult to give kmpl figures in heavy traffic.
  20. Mr. Sylvi Wijesinghe will be able to help you. He repaired a small crack on my car windscreen a couple of years back and did a very good job.
  21. Air bags are marked on the A, B and C pillars as well as on the side of the front seats in addition to the 2 on the dash and steering in the 8 air bag model
  22. Installed a steel mate more than 5 years ago. Its still working fine.
  23. No need to replace sensors. However you CANNOT use normal auto gear oil. Please use Toyota Super CVT oil only. The agents are probably the best place to get it done as changing the oil is a bit tricky.
  24. Use Toyota Super Long Life pink coolant. Available in 2L & 4L packs.
  25. The vitz has 2 coolant temperature warning lights, one green (low coolant temp) and one red (high coolant temp) . Both come on when you turn on the ignition key. The red one should go off a second or two after starting but the green one may stay until the engine has warmed up to the normal operating temperature. If the RED comes on while the engine is running you are in trouble. Stop immediately and get expert help.
